I question the quality of the products and customer service. I bought a pair of leather trainers for my husband, but after approx. 10 wears the stitching has started to come undone on the front of the shoe. The company were not interested, and called this wear and tear.

Absolutely terrible refunds process. Been over 3 weeks since my returned items were received by them. When I contacted customer service, they said my refund was requested and I should receive a refund confirmation once my refund has been processed - this should’ve happened within 24 hours as I paid via paypal. It’s now been 1 week and still not received any refund confirmation. Customer service reply times are appalling and incredibly unhelpful. Avoid at all costs.

Casually wondered in and was very surprised by the warm and professional staff. I was served by a young man named Vincent and he was genuine, sincere and most importantly he listened to my needs and gave me options to match. Keep up the good work.
The sales guy called Leroy in the Stratford branch was excellent in helping my son choose the right wedding trousers nothing was to much trouble was so experienced with the alterations would most definitely shop there again. And thank you Leroy for making a stressful time go with ease .
Fantastic
Hawes & Curtis is a long-established and distinguished British fashion brand, founded in 1913 by Ralph Hawes and George Frederick Curtis. Known for its heritage in shirtmaking, the brand has served royalty and celebrities alike over the decades.
Today, Hawes & Curtis operates stores in the UK, Germany, and the UAE, and maintains a strong online presence with dedicated websites for the UK, Germany, and Australia.
While they’re a respectable brand overall, they’re not my personal favourite when it comes to shopping. TM Lewin, once a major player in the same space, unfortunately went bust—likely due to poor management, despite their popularity.
By comparison, my go-to for smart-casual wear is Charles Tyrwhitt. Founded in 1986 by Nick Wheeler OBE, the brand was named after his middle names. You’ll often find Charles Tyrwhitt and Hawes & Curtis side by side on Jermyn Street, competing like the McDonald’s and Burger King of menswear. If you find one, you find the other usually not so far away. I’m not sure who opened first on these high streets but one is certainly copying the other. Brent X shopping center has both opposite one another by way of example. In my experience, Charles Tyrwhitt offers better quality and customer service. Their 6-month product guarantee and generous new customer discounts are great perks.
In contrast, I’ve had less-than-stellar experiences with Hawes & Curtis staff. For instance, at their Central London branch, a staff member refused to process a refund—despite my valid receipt—because the "item wasn’t in stock". Made no sense to me because I requested a refund and not an exchange. I had to wait around 16 minutes while he debated the issue with his manager, only to eventually approve the refund without so much as an apology. It felt unprofessional and showed a lack of common sense. That same staff member later transferred to the Brent Cross store near me, which I’ve since avoided for a while.
It only takes one bad experience to tarnish a brand’s reputation, and unfortunately, that was mine with Hawes & Curtis. So far nothing like this with Charles Tyrwhitt but they seem to be a very well run company and they know what they are doing.

I have purchased H&C shirts in the past. I currently have 11 shirts in my closet in various styles (satin fitted, satin pussybow, stretch cotton fitted and cotton fitted) and I'm usually very impressed with the cut, quality and fit. However, this time around, I purchased two stretch cotton fitted shirts (in floral styles) and the quality is very poor. The fabric is very thin compared to my older shirts and feel more like a polyester blend than cotton. The cut is nice but the fact that fabric is so thin it almost looks cheap. Very disappointed and I don't think I will be purchasing in the near future since I can get similar quality for less. At this point, I think customers are just paying for the brand name.

I had a terrible experience with the service from start to finish. I ordered shirts in extra slim fit, but they fit differently from one another. I returned them to exchange for fitted slim options, but it took over a week for you to register the delivery. Then, it took an additional week for you to inform me that you didn't have two of the shirts available, so you would be refunding me. You also claimed that a shirt was missing from the box, which is simply not true, and I strongly suggest you check your CCTV for proof.
I called customer service twice, and both times, the representative was short and uninterested, stating, "We can do this; it's in our terms and conditions." Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.
After their reply, still didn't follow up on my issues. Terrible customer services. If anything my experience has got worse.
Have seen the reply. You are missing the main issues which was you very slow service and the attitude of your staff. Stop replying to make the review seem less valid. Terrible

I visited the store today to purchase a wool suit from the 1913 collection, I asked SAL to assist me, this was to be my 5th suit purchase! I have been a loyal customer to this company since 2010, anyway I tried on a sharkskin coloured suit in the changing room and when I exited SAL had apparently left, I needed a different trouser size to which another store clerk by the name of Massimo came forward and after a brief conversation emerged from the back of the store to state there were no trousers for my suit! Then he disappeared! Me being familiar with the store and the suits decided to do a self service and find the correct size trousers myself as apparently this lot were incapable of serving a loyal customer. I was eventually assisted by the store manager who needed to pin the trousers for adjustment, which she did. She actually came just in time because I was minded to leave and not bother spend my hard earned money after such shocking treatment! The lack of professional service was terrible I informed the manager that I would write a review on here. Truly disappointing experience and not the type of service one would expect from a reputable company! I must say on my visit last year to the smaller store they had at the time I was treated exceptionally well to be honest by professional courteous staff!

Very stressful experience after ordering online. There was an error in the delivery address which I noticed immediately after ordering. I immediately tried to contact the company to correct this and after about an hour trying to get through, I managed to speak to someone who said they couldn't change the address but would cancel the order so I could reorder using the correct address. A few hours later, however, I received an email saying the order had been dispatched to the wrong address.

Very poor quality! I bought four shirts and within six months, three of the shirts had ripped at the seams - two on the cuff and one down the side. I complained to customer service and they replied to say it was outside of their 28 day warranty period and was due to wear. Will never buy from this company again

Terrible service did not deliver my order and it is impossible to to speak to someone for a refund. Avoid

I purchased a pair of shoes on 15th May 2025, by 26th June the heel had fallen off. These were formal shoes marketed as workwear. I complained to customer services who replied that based on images sent that they had 'extended' wear. This is unacceptable since they have only been worn for work during that time and I had a weeks holiday in between! They are clearly not adhering to Consumer Rights Act and I will be doing a section 75 charge back with my bank if they do not offer a refund. Terrible customer service. AVOID

NEVER BUY FROM THIS PLACE! I paid EUR 47 for a return of 2 polo shirts I did not want (they are shipping from UK). Both pieces was slim fit according to their website but is actually a regular fit. I had to spend an hour to fillout a return label as the firm had a bunch of questions to the package. They could instead consider to forward a return label alongside the shirts. Totally waste of time, never buying from here again, both the return system and the products are a joke. Now I will have to wait for my small refund I will receive because the shipping costs will be deducted from the total amount (if I even receive my refund back)

I recently had the pleasure of shopping for a suit at the new Hawes & Curtis store in Birmingham's Bullring, and I cannot speak highly enough of the exceptional service I received from Arjan and Jasmine. From the moment I walked in, both were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and genuinely committed to making the experience smooth and enjoyable.
Arjan’s knowledge of fit, style, and tailoring was outstanding—he took the time to understand what I was looking for and offered thoughtful suggestions that elevated the final choice beyond my expectations. Jasmine complemented the experience perfectly with her warm demeanor and sharp eye for detail, ensuring everything from fabric selection to accessories was perfectly aligned with my needs.
Their teamwork and professionalism made the entire process not only effortless but also enjoyable. It’s rare to find such dedicated staff who clearly take pride in what they do. Thanks to Arjan and Jasmine, I walked away with a suit that fits impeccably and a genuinely memorable shopping experience.
Highly recommended!
Hawes & Curtis is a scam operation; do not place an order with them. I ordered linen shirts that were too big. I requested a return slip, and I was billed $89.35 to return the shirts. When I reached out to Hawes & Curtis, they did not care, but it was them who provided me with the faulty return slip. I am writing this review to warn shoppers that Hawes & Curtis is not a legitimate retailer.

I purchased a pair of shoes online 14/06/2025 and they arrived on a few days later on 17/06/2025. The shoes unfortunately didn’t fit having tried them on and not worn for more than 10 seconds in a clean and carpeted house. The shoes were sent back on 19/06 tracking ref OT074489674GB. On 01/07 I received notification via DPD that the shoes were being delivered to Hawkes and Curtis and on 02/07/2025 I received the following email:

The marketing of H&C is very weird, to say the least. I got on Instagram ads about them and when I checked the website, I found some good offers like 4 shirts at 160€ for Germany. I kept the shirts in the basket for a few days, maybe I find some more items to order then make a bigger purchase. When I got back to order, the offer became 3 for 165€ .. so the cookies did their thing.
I would have given them a chance, but the marketing is too confusing for me.

All my shirts have always been Hawes and Curtis. Reason because they are high quality shirts; durable and value for money. I encouraged my brother in-law to buy 6 shirts from United States of America and he did. He was really happy with the shirts. Their shirts are quality without limit.
I purchased a pair of trousers from the company which was small.and I needed to exchange fir a bigger size. The courier delivered while I was not at home and left it outside and cannot be found. I spoke to the customer services, they are now telling me its the company policy not refund any item since the GPS data has confirmed the delivery meanwhile I did not request to leave it outside or to a neighbour. They want me to report to the police if I think someone has stolen it. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICES AND BAD COMPANY POLICY. Will.never shop with them again

Having shopped at Charles Tyrwhitt for years, I liked the Better Cotton Initiative and thought I’d try H&C shirts.
The shirts are good but the company and communication are awful.
I had no emails during the return/exchange process to confirm what the details of the exchange were, and I’m now stuck where I don’t know what the status is. Live chat won’t respond and the customer service line is clearly not staffed appropriately.
