The marketing of H&C is very weird, to say the least. I got on Instagram ads about them and when I checked the website, I found some good offers like 4 shirts at 160€ for Germany. I kept the shirts... See more

I have tried to return a blouse ( worth £ 20.00) but was 3 days out of the 28day return period due to unexpected travel abroad due to family member being seriously ill. H&C response was it is not possible to return (even for a Gift Card) under any circumstances, quoting their T&C. Sad to know what there is no compassion nor empathy in the world today. On a bright side I was offered 10% off my next full priced order...which will probably never be used.

I’ve always liked the quality and style of the women’s shirts. Sadly the customer service agent I had the misfortune of speaking to yesterday ruined my shopping experience. She was self important and just spoke over me. All I wanted was help with an exchange. Had to call and speak to her twice - both times she was barely polite. Please hire people who actually want to do a good job and not just tick a box.

**I bought 4 ‘formal’ shirts in early February - 3 of which were non iron, the other poplin. I regularly buy smart shirts to wear with suits when I sit in Court as a Magistrate. When I first washed the blue poplin shirt before I wore it the result was disastrous despite carefully following the washing instructions. The shirt was totally creased all over - I put it on a hanger to dry after which it was impossible to iron. I use a steam-generated iron and have always carefully pressed my own clothes. I contacted H&C Customer Service who asked for photos of before & after ironing - I sent these asking for either a refund or exchange to another non-iron shirt instead. The response I received was condescending & patronising - basically referring me to their website about care of the product - and telling me it was my fault, giving me instructions on how to iron a shirt suggesting I should do it whilst it is damp. Everyone knows that by doing this you could risk scalding or even burning the shirt. Despite my conversations with two people in Customer Service (one male & one female) no one has tried to listen or understand my complaint. In fact both people were extremely rude and unhelpful, refusing to assist in any way - even though the male agent stated they had received similar complaints from other customers…
So my advice to other prospective customers is this - if you want good quality shirts and follow up customer service then don’t buy from Hawes & Curtis. My recommendations for alternatives would be Charles Tyrwhitt or TM Lewin or Brook Taverner - all of whom are reliable and reputable shirt makers.

Today I went into the flagship store in Piccadilly to get a dinner suit for my wedding.
Met a lovely gentleman named Chack, who looked after me and put me at ease straight away, talked me through everything and gave me great feedback on some of my ‘out of the box’ questions. Deffo shop in store for the personal touch.
I purchased a pair of corduroy trousers and two quarter-zip sweaters, but unfortunately, all were of poor quality. The fabric and stitching were weak, as both items ripped at the seams with minimal wear. Very disappointing.
I recommend the reader to save yourself some money

Big shout out to the amazing 'Amon' at H&C- Jermyn Street, LDN. The lad is the epitome of first-class service! His attention to detail, product knowledge &genuine passion sets him apart. I found exactly what I was looking for with his assistance.....his professionalism, patience and approach to styling made my shopping experience super easy and nothing short of extraordinary! Thanks buddy, you rock!
Purchased a shirt which I unfortunately had to return as it was too small. This company charge £3 “administration “( not postage, which I had already paid for) just to return! I have never encountered this with any other retailer and certainly did not expect it of a company of this reputation, so be aware! I am not quite sure what the fee is actually for other than to put the product back on the shelf.

Delayed Delivery with an unjustifiable excuses from Royal Mail
This excuses of Royal mail to unable to locate my address is becoming ridiculous and nuisating to say the least. With this same excuse they lost my wife's parcel amd had the gut to ask to contact seller for a possible refund.
They always claim they cannot locate our address. I have given you a neighbour's commercial hair salon which is opened every day within their delivery zone and hours but you are still failing to deliver my product with same excuse.
I am travelling tomorrow 21/02/2025 for a programme and urgently need this suit and cannot afford ro miss it on time tomorrow.
Please ensure Royal Ma delivers to the product to this address:196 Ansty Road, CV2 3EY tomorrow without fail for the items is time bound.
Hawes and Curtis, you must take responsibility for me to have this product delivered on time to me tomorrow before Royal Mail mess up my journey, which will come with consequences.

This is a company which uses the classic excuse of telling you your shirt is not brilliant white due to the ‘STUDIO LIGHTING’. Errrmmm you’ve sold me a shirt which is an off white. Refused to refund.
DON’T buy. CT Shirts better

I bought a pair of suit trousers in the sale. A week later, after prompting by email, I was informed they were out of stock and I would be refunded. I was duly refunded, but without the P&P. Again, another email to prompt a further refund of the P&P, which was later sent. Customer service slow and without explanation. They always seem to need to be prompted. I wouldn’t bother with them again.

I bought a 'Non-Iron Pink & Navy Multi Check Slim Shirt With Contrast Detail' in the Christmas sale for £35 which was my first shirt purchase from H&C. At the same time, I managed to buy a couple of Thomas Pink shirts in a sale for £50 - more expensive, but buying at the same time allows for an interesting comparison.
Overall, I'd say that the H&C shirt is OK:
Pros:
- I like the fabric design and contrasting detail
- It's a good fit
- Washes and irons well (I know it says non-iron, but like all non-iron shirts it still needs to be ironed, TBH)
Cons:
- There was A LOT of unnecessary plastic packaging. In addition to the plastic cover, there were at least 6 other pieces of plastic which are all instantly thrown away. Clearly, no plastic reduction targets at H&C!
- There's strip of crinkly material sown into the shirt underneath the buttons that crinkles when you wear it. Is this normal for H&C shirts? I've never come across this before and it's just plain weird.
- The button holes are tight, certainly on early usage, I guess they'll probably wear in a bit. And the buttons are not very rounded on the edge and feel quite sharp when you have to push them hard through smallish holes, so putting the thing on is actually quite uncomfortable on your fingers. I know this sounds minor, but I've worn hundreds of shirts in my time and this is definitely one of the top 2 or 3 hardest / most uncomfortable ones to button-up. Hopefully it will ease off over time.
All-in-all, this wasn't enough for me to return the shirt because I like the look of it (if not the sound...) when it's on. But how did it compare to the Pink shirts?
Well, they feel more luxurious and have finer detailing - which is to be expected given the price difference (they were over £150 full price - ludicrous but they do feel and look a lot finer). They're not non-iron so are harder to iron, though.
For me, I'd definitely pay a £15 premium over a H&C shirt in future if I could get Pink shirts for the same price, and probably a bit more - they do feel next level.
If I can't buy Pink for a similar discount, would I buy more shirts from H&C? Maybe.
There's nothing inherently wrong with my shirt but the crinkly strip is very odd and the buttons uncomfortable to button up - if these things calm down with use, I may buy more. The shirt I have is OK, it looks nice - but it's not going to become a favourite and isn't one I automatically reach for: it's more squad player than star striker.

I purchased 4 shirts from H&C towards the end end of 2024. 2 of the shirts are now fault after only wearing a couple of times. One shirt has 2 buttons missing and the other has a big tear on the arm near the wrist.
I reported this to H&C on email and their response was "this is an issue of reasonable wear and tear. The issue comes from constant friction between elbow and a table surface"
Absolutely laughable comment, they've firstly assumed that I wear shirts in an office setting and then suggest that it's reasonable for the shirt to tear after 4-5 wear. They didn't comment on the shirt with missing buttons.
I've re-raised the query with the Quality team but wouldn't recommend as have seen a couple of reviews where people have had bad quality/faulty shirts and nothing has been done

I placed my first & last order with Hawes & Curtis. I live in the USA. I ordered a total of 4 shirts. Two for me & two for my sons. For me, I ordered two French cuff shirts. One I ordered with 37” sleeves & thought …fine they’ll be a little bit long as I wear a 34/35 sleeve. Well, lo & behold the 37” sleeve is perfect while the 34” sleeve is short.
Hawes & Curtis does not allow exchanges. Nor do they offer easy returns as do other English shirt companies. One has to return the shirt with a $10 restocking fee AND pay the shipping - $10 via them or your own shipper of choice.
So now I’m stuck with a shirt that doesn’t fit because it will cost me half the cost of the shirt to return it to them in England!
So while the shirt itself is very nice, I can’t purchase from them anymore. They just lost a customer. Back to CT & Brook Traverner where they offer easy exchanges & returns.

I own a number of Hawes and Curtis shirts and have been buying them for ages all in store. For the first time, I decided to do an online purchase and this has been a terrible experience.
8th Jan - bought 3 shirts on the Hawes and Curtis website
11th Jan - Got a mail informing shirts have been dispatched
17th Jan - Yet to receive my items. I send an email to support asking for an investigation
21st Jan - After back and forth email exchanges, I receive a confirmation that a replacement has been dispatched. I review the email and see the wrong items have been dispatched
22nd Jan - I email this to support and I am informed I have to return the items that were incorrectly sent to me before items I paid for will be sent to me. Unacceptable!
What a terrible experience. No show of empathy. No desire to do more for the customer even after messing things up.
I simply want the items I correctly paid for!!!

Do not order from this company. Might be better if you aren’t international. Sent me a damaged product and aren’t responding. Waiting for the refund policy to be up.

I purchased a navy double-breasted jacket and a navy skirt in October 2024. The items look great but on wearing the items, I found that the fabric is poor quality as it forms bobbles and easily snags
The lining on the inside the skirt was ill fitting and always twisted and stuck to the inside of the skirt.
I have been wearing Hawes & Curtis shirts for many years, and was disappointed with the poor quality of the jacket, but the skirt was worse because of the construction.
These items were a waist of money as will not be wearing them anymore as they present a person as scruffy and uncomfortable.

I placed an order with Hawes and Curtis, and after a month, I have still not received it. When communicating with the customer service platform, I have not received any satisfactory response, just the general tracking information that is given through the postal service carrier and automated responses. Horrible customer service.

Once again a lack of stock! I wanted to order a number of shirts in size 8 but they only had 2 in stock and refused to refund me the delivery charge even though they were the ones with lack of stock! Surely that’s the least they could do. Get your house in order Touker!
