From the day after ownership, I tried to get Volvo to repurchase this lemon and was shot down for 3 months. Finally had to trade it for a loss with only 3k miles. STAY AWAY. Drivers seat moves whil... See more

It’s has been the worst car buying…
It’s has been the worst car buying experience I have ever had. When ordering the xc90 in the showroom the order got stuck in the system so had to go home not knowing if I had ordered a car or not. 5 hours later had to finish the order at home. Then a week later got a date to pick the car up. So off we went on the day to pick the car up. Only to get a call when were 10 minutes from the dealer to say the car wasn’t ready and it would be another 2 days. Then the service book said the needs servicing in 12 months time but the car says 8 months time.so got in touch with customer service to find out why. Said they would get back to me in 48 hours that was a week ago. The car is ok but customer support is shocking so this will be my first and last Volvo and will be going back to BMW as soon as possible.
Volvo out of stock of shock absorbers
We had a fault with our Volvo V60. It took 7 days for our usual dealer Bells of Northampton to ring us back and in the meantime we had to take the car elsewhere. Then it turns out that Volvo are completely out of stock of shock absorbers and we have to order them from Europe.
Volvo Tauranga New Zealand r absolutely…
Volvo Tauranga New Zealand are absolutely hopeless.
The sales team might be good however the the maintenance workshop is an absolute joke and I am very disappointed in the workshop manager as well they should close down the service department and only sell cars.
My xc60 2013 was for 6 months in the garage collecting dust previous to that they told me with the standard line we have tried to replicate the issue you experienced but couldn't faulty the car a statement from the front desk lady who did the test driving! Seriously !
Close down the service department from Volvo in Tauranga.
Due to this I purchased now I a Mercedes and will replace my other Volvos too.
I am absolutely guttered that I can't drive Volvo in Tauranga New Zeeland any more due to there level of incompetence.
My Volvo C40 broke down, and I have an appointment in the service in 4 months!
My Volvo C40 broke down, and I have an appointment in the service in 4 months!
I booked an appointment in two weeks (on 9th July) via their website for a service in London. They emailed me saying the website was showing incorrect dates due to a technical issue, so they had an appointment in August. I booked an appointment in August via their app. A few days later, they called and said they were fully booked until mid-October. What? You buy an expensive car and they’re making you wait 4 months for an appointment in the service! It’s a shame for the brand, considering themselves premium.
Avoid the Volvo V60 MK2 version
Be warned: the MK2 Volvo V60 has a known issue with its tailgate struts. On early models, Volvo acknowledged the fault and issued a recall to replace defective components under warranty. However, for later models, they did nothing — despite the same issue clearly persisting.
I own a 5-year-old V60, bought new and with just 61,000 miles. The tailgate struts have now completely failed. The tailgate no longer stays open and drops suddenly — a serious safety hazard. I have to stand back to avoid being hit.
Volvo's response? A repair cost of over £1,200 — and they expect me to pay half. Completely unacceptable for a safety-critical fault that is clearly a manufacturing issue.
Trying to escalate this within Volvo leads nowhere. Any complaint is pushed straight back to the ineffective Customer Relations team. No one takes ownership or accountability. Their final word? "If you don’t agree, take it to the Motoring Ombudsman."
For a brand built on promises of Safety, Quality, and Reliability, this experience has been deeply disappointing. Those values, it seems, have been quietly abandoned.
Volvo - Probably the worst service
Probably the worst service you can expect from Volvo Head Office. Paint work is coming off the front bumper on a 15 month old car. Unfortunately Volvo have classed this us wear and tear and stone chip. Two independent body work garages have confirmed it’s not wear and tear but faulty paint work. As for warranty, once again it only covers 1st owner. Paid over £35,000 for a car and it’s poor showing by Volvo.
VOLVO UK INCOMPETENT TO THE CORE, DECEITFUL, UNTRUSTWORTHY !
We collected our new 2025 Volvo V60 estate in our chosen colour Silver Dawn in April this year. We ordered in Feb & we`re informed it could be up to 6-7 months for delivery. Unexpectedly we received a phone call two weeks later saying our car had arrived & was ready.. Upon collection the car was left outside & had been left running unattended for 30 minutes plus as apparently the battery was flat.. Both sets of keys were also in the car... Not a good start. Now this is where things start going wrong. After further inspection of the vehicle we noticed that the bonnet was twisted & raised on one side which made the gap wider on the off side. Also & very oddly one swage line on the bonnet did not line up with the swage line on the nose cone but one swage line on the opposite side did. The off side headlight stuck out by 1cm further than the nearside headlight. The rear tailgate was twisted & the gaps were bigger on one side also. Luckily for us we spotted these defects before 30 days had expired so the car was swiftly & rightly rejected. After a lot of messing about & discussion the dealership who were now very apologetic had offered to rectify the faults under a Volvo warranty claim. Get this !!!! Volvo UK then refused this claim / offer saying the Volvo dealership repair cost was too much & wanted to inspect the car themselves. (Very odd, it`s as if they had something to hide from everyone.) Volvo UK also asked why the dealership had released the car with these defects & why did the customer (ie us) take the car in the first place. So basically Volvo UK were 100% trying to pass the buck onto the dealership & even hinting that we as the customer were at fault & to blame for the defects. I`d like to say "Why did VOLVO UK ship out a defective car, I`m guessing quality control have very low standards. At no point did either Volvo UK or the dealership offer us a temporary courtesy car as we would now be without a car now as it was rejected through no fault of ours. Who checks the line gaps on a new car as you expect them to be bang on the mark. Used cars you would check the lines / gaps etc looking for previous damage repairs etc but not a brand new Volvo. In the end the local dealership offered us one of their already in stock showroom vehicles as a direct replacement, a way of making things right I guess which I do appreciate. It's a hollow result for us as it's not the colour we had originally ordered plus we also paid for tinted windows but the replacement does not have them. So aftermarket tints will now have to be fitted. Very poor show by Volvo UK who at the end of the day really do not care about the customer. Three new cars we have had from Volvo over the last 11 years, will we buy another ? Who knows but I'll be checking bodylines & gaps on any new car from now on.. Volvo UK hang your heads in shame as you are incompetent to the core. Makes me truly think that you (Volvo UK) were already aware of the defects on this vehicle & did not want the main dealership to find out that a damaged vehicle had been given to them to be sold on to an unsuspecting customer with hopefully poor eyesight.. Well Volvo UK you did well & truly get caught out on this one as my eyes spotted the faults very quickly. Buy a car in haste from VOLVO UK & repent at leisure as they really do not give a damn..
Buy something else
I have a Volvo EX30 which I took delivery of in October 2024. Within the first few days I started having issues with the car. The car wont unlock and it unlocks itself. During the winter months the condensation inside the car was terrible. I had to have the blower on full, all the time whilst driving to keep the windows clear. The stereo often has no sound. To reset the screen, you need to use the buttons on the steering wheel, which don't work.
I have been to three separate dealers regarding these issues but none of them are interested, The car came from Raychapman motors. but they're over 300 miles away from my home, so they told me to contact my local volvo dealer. So I contacted Volvo at Stirling. Who couldn't look at the car for over two months.
After inspecting the car, they said they are aware of all the issues, but they have no solutions for any of them. And said, they hope a future software update would fix the locking/unlocking issues.
So I contacted tusker (the leasing company). They advised to book in to another Volvo dealer. So it was booked in to Newbridge. Another two month wait.
With the exact same outcome. Not interested in fixing the faults.
I wish I had looked at the reviews for Volvo before getting the car.
Do yourself a favor and DO NOT BUY A VOLVO.
I have had this car for 8 months now. A car that you cant get into or unlocks itself in the middle of the night isn't great.
It took me 13 years to purchase a new…
It took me 13 years to purchase a new car, and after extensive research, I decided on Volvo based on the brand’s reputation for safety, reliability, and quality. I was proud to purchase my 2024 S60 on March 12. Unfortunately, just 30 days later, a severe storm caused an old tree to fall on my car, damaging the windshield, dashboard, and steering column.
While the situation was heartbreaking, I understood it was out of anyone’s control. Thankfully, my insurance provided a rental for 30 days. But what I did not expect—and what has been far more frustrating—is the lack of response, accountability, and support from Volvo since then.
My car has now been in the shop for over two months, and the necessary parts still have not arrived. Despite multiple calls and emails to Volvo Corporate Customer Care, I have been told—more than once—that the parts would be expedited within 10–12 days. That promise has been broken repeatedly.
I’ve left voicemails, emailed several times, and even requested a supervisor call me back. I was told I would be contacted within 24–48 hours. That never happened. Instead, I’ve been left with silence or empty reassurances. I am now personally covering the cost of a rental car and making payments on a vehicle I cannot even drive—all while receiving no resolution or meaningful communication from Volvo.
As someone who has worked in customer service for over 25 years, I am truly disheartened. I know what it means to treat customers with respect, empathy, and follow-through. This experience has been the opposite.
I also want to share—though this is deeply personal—that I have been battling a serious illness, and this ongoing situation is creating unnecessary stress that is not healthy for me.
I am writing this publicly not out of anger, but in hopes that Volvo will finally take responsibility and deliver the support and service I expected when I chose to invest in this brand. I hope no one else has to go through what I’m experiencing now.
They have refused to provide a rental even though the part is on back order which is out of my control , and as I stated my insurance only covered a rental for 30 days. I still have no estimated date of completion. I would like Volvo to provide a rental until this is resolved!
Sincerely,
Kesha Settles
We purchased a new car from Volvo
We purchased a new car from Volvo, told there would be a 3-4 mo lead time. We were then told a new car was available in 3 weeks, after someone “pulled out” (no further details) but were assured the car was brand new, so we agreed. Despite buying the car from Volvo directly, the car has shown to have multiple issues, highlighted by Volvo themselves, (independent of us). Yet, Volvo won’t engage with any of the issues they themselves have raised.
Unnecessarily stressful and arduous trying to get any form of assistance. Very unexpected that Volvo would engage in such misconduct. (Also worth mentioning the disappointing conduct from the Sales team at the dealership).
We are raising the conduct formally for investigation but want to forewarn others, so they might avoid a similar situation.
Terrible service and extortionate pricing
Having noticed digital warning indications and problems changing gear, I took my late 2019 Volvo V60 to be the local dealership whom after running their diagnostics advised a complete replacement of the automatic gearbox. This would all come at a cost of shade under £10k..!!! The vehicle has been fully serviced by Volvo, has 45000 on the clock and in otherwise great condition. To be fair, the local dealership seemed surprised at the extent of the work required and approached Volvo UK for a contribution to be to the work required - initially, they advised a nil contribution available which I found amazing given the extent of the work required and the age etc of car. After formally complaining to Volvo UK they eventually contributed 10% (excluding VAT of course) of the repairs costs and the local dealership reduced their labour costs. I was still left with a bill of over £8,600 and given I needed the car back had no option but to pay the ransom, given alternative garages could not assist. I would avoid Volvo like the plague and will never buy another one after this disgusting episode.
Worst customer service EVER!!!
Worst customer service EVER when there is a problem with you car, even when under warranty.
I was advised by the team to drop my car to the Elstree dealership and they should provide a courtesy car. Get there no courtesy car available. Volvo Assistant books a taxi for me and says a courtesy will be sorted in 2-3hrs, 4hrs later I have to call to chase up and suddenly they have no record of this and it is not their policy to do so.
Based on the advice given, I have now no means to pick up my 3yr daughter (unless in a taxi which puts a child at risk) and could potentially lose a non-refundable reservation of £200 due to only giving my car in as I was promised a courtesy car.
Seems like they don't train their staff on what they can provide, contacting customers to provide update and ability to tell customers what their policy is.
I have had to constantly chase and every conversation repeat what has happened, what I was promised. Oh and they obviously don't care about their customers who buy a car from them to provide a cover car which they state they do when purchasing the car!!
Be careful
Be careful! The service subscription is pure robbery. You have no rights. If the car is sold or even not in use (de-registered), you will pay the full amount until the end...

I usually don’t leave reviews, but my experience with Volvo has been so frustrating that I feel obligated to warn others.
Pathetic Service – if you think the car is bad, just wait until you need help. The dealership service department is a joke. Appointments are booked weeks out, and when you finally get your car in, they either "can't replicate the issue" or keep the car for days without giving updates. I’ve had to bring the car in multiple times for the same problem, and it's never properly fixed. Customer service is dismissive and unhelpful – they make you feel like you're the problem for expecting a functioning car.
Even Volvo’s corporate support is useless. I tried escalating my concerns, and all I got were canned responses and empty promises. No accountability, no resolution.
In summary: I spent a small fortune on what I thought was a premium car from a reputable brand. Instead, I got subpar engineering backed by even worse support. I will never buy another Volvo again, and I strongly advise anyone considering it to look elsewhere. Plenty of brands offer better vehicles, better reliability, and way better service.
Roadside assistance. The car xc40 decided not to start on…
The car xc40 decided not to start on Saturday and its a hybrid. I had a baby and they said within 60 min someone will come but It took 5 hours for them to come in central area because its all outsourced to 3 party and no one was working on Saturday until 6 pm. Guys came and could not fix so it was up recovery. I tild there is height limit in the parking still someone came late with vehicle which would not pass (3rd party) and they dont have vehicle which can come inside. In the end I had to release the parking brake somehow and it was pushed till gate and recovered. I told the volvo support to raise the hire car request and he said he is doing and he dint do it. Next day when I called, that nice person did not raise hire car request. Case was raised next day and Enterprise dint have car to provide till 4 pm. Its worst service of all. Most of the The team is not professional and 3rd party they use is not good. Simply pathetic service. And volvo wanted me to contact enterprise even i told him not sure which branch contacted me and i dont know what number. What a shameful service.
C40 twin recharge Volvo a few…
We bought a C40 twin recharge Volvo a few months ago which is still in warranty. In the literature it states it can run over 300 miles on a full charge....this is incorrect in our case we are lucky to get the lower end of 200 or less. We took the car to Sunderland Volvo who checked the battery and said it was ok, however whilst driving a short distance home, it lost considerable mileage( no heaters or any gadgets were used, plus we drive sensibly .) Sunderland dealership weren't interested in our dissatisfaction even though we told them,in the literature it stipulated x amount of miles which we weren't getting . Sunderland Volvo told us to complain to Volvo customer relations which we did, plus Sunderland Volvo said they would also raise the matter with HO. We should of known customer relations and Sunderland Volvo weren't particularly interested. Customer relations didn't even take all of our particulars .Surprisingly, not even 24 hours after logging the complaint,we received an email, refering us to back to the Sunderland Volvo. Guess what ? Yep! They refused to do anything, saying the performance of the car was correct which we know it isn't. Not happy with this, they told us to contact the Ombudsman, who in turn told us to write a letter to the dealer where we purchased the vehicle. COME ON VOLVO IT Shouldn't MATTER where it was purchased it's your NAME on the car, it's still in WARRANTY.
Disappointed is an understatement!! Volvo Customer service is disspicable..do they look into the complaint..I don't think so ,..they just pass you from pillar to post so you just give up. Like everyone on here ,I advise you NOT to purchase VOLVO.
I have an XC90 and XC60

Xc40 one problem after another
We bought our 2020 Volvo last February, warranty expired this Feb. Less than 50k on the clock and so far there’s been an alternator problem (in warranty), the turbo arm has had to be replaced (out of warranty) and now the boot refuses to shut. Apparently the struts have gone and this is to do with a design fault. £500 per strut. Am absolutely disgusted with Volvos customer service - nothing we can do but pay the 500 and as a gesture of goodwill Volvo ‘may’ give us some money back. Am not holding my breath. We deliberately bought a Volvo because of their reputation for reliability but unfortunately it hasn’t lived up to it. Will never buy a Volvo again
Volvo UK has gone down the pan
I had to contact Volvo about a simple issue with servicing and I have to say they couldn't be less bothered to assist but within an hour of me making a complaint they had issued a final outcome letter to me directing me to the motor ombudsman. I asked if the issue could be escalated but they allegedly have no escalation process and their 'executives' decisions are final. Basically avoid because unless you are buying a new vehicle with all the expensive bells and whistles from them they really could not careless about you. They are Chinese owned now so the days of good and friendly Swedish customer care are truly over. Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!!!!
