wouldn’t recommend for selling

Whilst we had a good experience with Bournemouth branch initially when we brought our property 5 years ago, we didn’t for the selling aspect of Poole branch. It started off good with a viewing and offer, but when the offer fell through after a week, we basically were ghosted from late July - mid October whilst the contract was happening. Any contact that was made was by us through email/call to organise price reductions and other elements to help sell the property. There was no proactive movement from Poole’s side to help sell the property from our point of view. Whilst “the market being bad” is out of people’s control, proactive communication isn’t, and we were not proactively communicated with throughout the entire selling process, which has stuck us into a position where we are now unable to sell and have to look at other options.

Arranged viewing, it was raining, we got early but that’s our problem. Then a minute before the arranged time a young guy got out of the car parked right in front of us. He’s from Fox & Sons. He’s been waiting in his car whole time knowing we were waiting outside the property in the rain. He could’ve said like, sorry we can’t show till the arranged time then we’d walk back to our car and wait.

Fox and Sons Hailsham…

Shannon and Claire at the Hailsham branch were very helpful on the purchase of our house, they even chased the sellers solicitors for us to get a few things moving and always responded to our emails. It wasn’t the easiest purchase, and the transaction wasn’t smooth, through no fault of theirs, and we were happy with the service we received, and finally completed 01/08/25

I recently brought a house with fox and…

I recently brought a house with fox and sons, in the beginning I was really happy with the service but soon realised it was a lot of sales for themselves.

My house was beautiful and sold itself very quickly, I’m under no illusion with that. It was quick due to this and the circumstances of the buyer being a cash buyer. Look out for fixed price, others offer a percentage therefore if the price of the house is negotiated so is the fee from the estate agent. Also, there could have been more push for more money as the house was in demand or asked for more viewings after the one person saw it as we could have had a bidding going on, but I was told we couldn’t have any more viewings, which I don’t think is right considering I had one.

However, Leal Mcelwaine who was new in role was very much on it with supporting me. He picked up the calls, was polite and seemed the information as quickly as he could. He was a happy person to deal with especially when I was feeling frustrated.

Sayde Chowdry was also very polite and happy guy to work with. I would have liked a little more push for more guidance on getting more money for the property if we could and given a % fee instead of fixed but overall he was a lovely person He picked up the calls, was polite and seeked the information as quickly as he could. Terminated Fox and Sons as my agents

I used Fox & Sons (Sequence) to manage my property and I’ve now terminated them after a string of unacceptable failures.

Their only redeeming quality was that they used to find tenants relatively efficiently, but even that fell apart recently. I was told a new tenant had paid a holding deposit and would be moving in. Nearly three weeks later, I chased for an update only to be told, casually, that the tenants had decided not to move in “a few days ago.” No one bothered to inform me.

On top of that, they approved and paid a contractor who only did part of the quoted job—without my consent—and failed to tell me until after the invoice was paid. The job included installing an extractor fan, which they skipped entirely. I later found out the work they did do involved painting a bathroom that’s almost entirely tiled, using a contractor located two hours away. Complete mismanagement.

This wasn’t a one-off. Over the years, I’ve had other issues with both the branch and Sequence’s property management team—ranging from delayed communication to unclear billing and reactive service. I gave them the benefit of the doubt more than once, but this most recent experience made it clear I couldn’t trust them to manage my property professionally.

Fox & Sons’ property management (operated through Sequence) is disorganised, uncommunicative, and lacks basic accountability. They failed to act in my interests, ignored clear responsibilities, and treated major decisions as afterthoughts. After this experience, I wouldn’t recommend their services to any landlord.

Unwanted Cold Call

I have just had a cold call from Fox & Sons Poole where they asked how my property search was going despite the fact that I have never even contacted them, given them my details or asked them to call. I am not even looking for a property!
If I was ever buying a property in the Poole area I would give this lot a wide berth.
I have just checked and see that they are part of Connells group of estate agents. Panorama did a programme about their "activities" on Monday 14 July 2025. Worth a look before you go near this lot.

They just lie, also supported by management, despicable

had a viewing booked, no-one turned up. when i queried; agent stated was gone. They had left 2 messages to cancel, on a phone that doesn't have a messaging system. When i raised a complaint to head office, management just doubled down on this lie. They simply cannot be trusted.
It also appears -in their lying response- that they record your call without consent or informing you.
No wonder estate agents are one of the least trusted professions out there, these are the pinnacle in that respect, respect that you as their customer wont get.

Lack of Communication

The Bitterne branch were very efficient when setting up the property for sale however on receipt of an offer their communication and activity to move the sale to completion was very poor.

Promises from the agent of weekly updates were not kept resulting in the agents at the branch being chased by us and our buyer. Poor attitude from the agents upon learning that we had direct contact with our buyers however this was necessary due to the lack of communication from the Agents.

Comments from our agent of "well, your place is sold" were not helpful owing to the fact that a property is not sold until completion and monies are in the bank. And at the time of the comment the property was under offer however not completed, nor was their a completion date agreed. This led us to feel that effort/activity from our agent to help push the sale to completion was not being done.

After our complaints and an agent admitting that they had dropped the ball on our sale and they did start to make every effort to pick up the pace of the sale and maintain contact with us. However we shouldn't have had to complain to get the service we are paying for.

And no surprise that on day of completion there was no contact from the agent to check-in.

Not the service we would have expected from Fox & Sons and certainly not the service we have received from other agents when selling/buying property. Sadly we would not recommend the Bitterne branch of Fox & Sons

Could I say this is my first time…

Could I say this is my first time selling a property and buying one on my own . My 3 bedroom house was up for sale for over a year . Changed estate agents and can’t believe the difference.Fox and Sons have really gone above and beyond to help me . But I have to say Steven Buchan my mortgage advisor has been absolutely fantastic. I left our first meeting knowing exactly what I had ,what my costs where going to be selling and finding my new home . He has been there , every step of this stressful time. I Highly recommend him . And got sent a lovely email saying he will help me cross this line.
