So glad I joined total fitness bolton had my induction by Wayne and he's been my rock and inspiration all the way through my journey so far he has gone above and beyond to support me and continues to encourage me into achieving my goal x

Avoid, £576 debt collection after non-commitment membership cancellation. Scammers

Avoid! I joined this gym on a non-commitment membership for 2 people. After trial sales person said I could cancel anytime. It was Aintree branch. I joined for pool and only attended a few times but the pool was always dirty at the bottom and in disrepair around the edges.
I cancelled via app, but then it disappears, what a surprise. I cancelled my DD as it’s over approx £100 for joint membership.
They have still tried on a number occasions every month to take money out of my bank after cancelled. And now sent a debt collection agency for 4 months membership?! So much for no commitment, cancel anytime. I’m furious, such a scam. Requesting payment £576.00!!!
Absolute disgrace of a company.
Dirty pool, bad hygiene and false sales, mid-selling, don’t show t&c and sign on tablet. Don’t be fooled.
Never had such a bad experience from a gym before and payment problem.

Im stuck in a year contract and they made me walk in with a faulty pass for weeks when they could have just changed it for me. Then dont mention the lifeguard who is a pervert who creates going to the pool an absolute nightmare. He literally turned 180 away from the pool to stare at me. A customer told me he had split up from his wife and is going around the pool to look at womens chests. Disgusting

Avoid at all costs

Honestly I have had an horrendous experience with this gym staff rude unhelpful and they lie. The tell you that you can freeze your membership but fail to mention you can only do it once so if anything happens after that like in my case I broke my knee it's tough staff so at to continue paying for something I couldn't use once they get you signed up the couldn't care less

Zero Customer Service

Unfortunately I have to give it 1 star as I can’t give zero.
Once again I have been over charged even though I have sent numerous emails and phone calls, and been promised the matter had been sorted.
Well after over a year of this I have just cancelled my joint membership.
Please avoid this company, they have zero customer service, the equipment is falling to bits and nearly every week something is closed.
You just have to read all the negative reviews to see what the company is like!

Avoid this gym chain. Zero customer service.

Joined total fitness out of convenience when looking for a gym in my local area, Immediately took £27 extra out of my account just to change direct debit date.

Looked at the facilities and class timetable and cancelled straight away during cooling off period, so glad I did. £50 a months, try to market themselves as a upmarket gym when in reality there far from there hefty price tag. Joined the local council gym for half the price and facilities are just as good.

Worse thing for me was trying to contact anybody, been on hold for over two hours before I give up. Zero customer service

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS GYM!!!

they over charge for what they offer by a lot.
classes are a pain to book. You have to be be up between 8am and 8:30pm the week before or no chance of booking. so any idea of a regular class is out the window.
Changing rooms are unclean and the toilets regularly smell of urine.
No warning when your membership is up even though i was told there would be. so they then charged me a month extra. when i released theyh are trying to take an extra month of me as i was after billing date.
Equipment regularly "reserved" for the squad sessions so most cant be used
facilities close for long periods without any refund or reduced fee.
Staff would rather sit on phones and chat than deal with issues.

all in all a money making scheme that has no intrest in helping you get fit or even being a good gym

No customer service

Before joining I explained that I would be leaving the country a few times a year. They said I could stop and start my membership anytime. When I stopped they still charged me. When I came back I asked to restarted but after two weeks and eight emails, still no confirmation. When I asked - three times - for the Managing Directors email so I could complain NOTHING.

Bolton Total fitness.

This evening during my visit I was disgusted with what i saw. The reason i started to do this review is because talking to the staff members is a waste of time. I informed the staff members that was all sitting round the desks in the foyer about the cleanliness in the mens changing rooms. They all looked at me with blank expressions then a few started to smirk. Later on in the evening as i was ready to leave I witnessed verbal abuse with strong language from a cleaner towards two younger gym member for using the changing room kiosk which he said had been locked. It clearly had not as i saw a member come from this kiosk before the younger members entered. I had to intervene and the cleaner walked away. Gave no reason why all the kiosks was locked.
Even before xmas the changing rooms and toilets was dirty and still are. The toilet bowls are dirty all round the hinges and under the seats. They are full of dust hairs and grime. There is dirt and grime all over cubicle walls ie the shower cubicles, changing rooms cubicles and the toilet cubicles. The backs of the doors have never been wiped. Tops of the tiled skirtings in the family cubicles full of dirt and hair and dust all around the feet of cubicles. Once you notice the dirt you notice everywhere. The tiled floor around the hydro pool had dirt on the floor tiles also. Please note the equipment is good, Pool is good. Just cleanliness is terrible.

I have been a member of this gym for 20…

I have been a member of this gym for 20 years, but over the past year things have been going downhill. It started with Total Fitness selling off a third of the carpark to Starbucks. It s now getting difficult to park at busy times. The repair or replacement of broken equipment is taking longer and longer even small things like the hairdryers and the poolside clocks are left broken for months on end. Maybe it's time to start looking around at other gyms, especially with the recent increase in membership prices.

Terrible service at Walkden

Terrible service at Walkden.
We went for a trial session just before Christmas & explained to the membership girl we'd join between Christmas & Nerw Year. We advised her we'd take a 1 month membership to make sure it was as good as they sold it to be and then, if it was, we'd sign for 12 months.
We've just gone to join & been told theres a joining fee unless we sign up to 12 months.
The girl admitted it was her mistake but they refuse to waive or rduce the fee.
Forget it, we can go elsewhere far cheaper with cleaner facilities & a better service.

Total fitness wilmslow- avoid at all costs!!

The gym is disgusting, dirt and grime throughout the changing rooms and changing room sauna. The main sauna is constantly on then off then on and now as it stands off again for reasons unknown. The place needs to be shut down its a disgrace. The gym is declining, old equipment that's constantly in need of repair. The stair masters are old and not fit for purpose, there's 6 and never all 6 are on at the same time there's always some out of order. They love to put the price up but don't care about the service they provide!

UPDATE: This gym has reached an all time low. The saunas off AGAIN!! That's another 2 weeks of no sauna as they're waiting for a seal to come, baring in mind the sauna was off for weeks literally a few weeks ago because of the same thing. There's poo all up the side of the toilet cubicle this morning and so much hair in one of the shower cubicles that it looks like someone literally shaved their dog in there it's disgusting AND to top it off they've put the prices up and not advised!!! Direct debit cancelled good bye and good ridence!!!!!!

Only care about signing you up then you’re stuck so they don’t care!

Total Fitness is a horrendous company!
They only care about signing you up and will happily lie about anything to get you to sign up for a year. Once your in their contracts only cover their ass and have NOTHING to protect you. If your gym is unsuitable, full or EVEN CLOSED!!! it’s tough luck! Go to one of their others (literally in their contracts!).
Ill, crippled or lost your job… don’t care pay up!

Wrexham is my club and the staff will politely tell you something completely untrue so you’ll leave them alone. If you tell them something is broken “it’ll be fixed right away” then a week later it’s still broken and they “didn’t know” or my favourite “Sorry we can’t repair that it’s contracted out and they have already been this year to fix stuff so won’t be for another 9 months!!”
I signed up for swimming in the mornings and then another club closed 2 months later and because nobody can get out of the contacts they all had to travel 40 mins every day and our pool was now 6 people per lane! Unusable.

Read the contact fully before signing up and what ever you DO NOT sign up for a year! They will remove something you need and you’ll be stuck paying!

Heartless and disgusting treatment of a customer in desperate need

1 star is generous. Found out unexpectedly that I was pregnant after having just paid for a year upfront 2 days before. I requested a refund since I get terrible morning sickness so can’t exercise, I also start a new job next year which means I’m not covered for maturnity pay and need the money to support my family. I was told because I didn’t apply online there is no 2 week cooling off period. They said to provide proof of my change of circumstances, I did and they are still refusing to refund me. The way they are treating a pregnant woman who’s suffering with health issues and potential financial difficulty is disgusting.
