TOTAL SCAM from Total Fitness
I went with my daughters to Total Fitness in Chester. They wanted to join. Somebody explained things in a very basic way, saying we could just decide to leave whenever we wanted, no issues, everything OK there. Now that my daughter is going to live in a different city to study at University, they are putting so many blockers. Now they say that because she's going to a city where they have a gym as well, they can't cancel the suscription. This was a TOTAL MIS-SELL, this is completely illegal. I advise anyone to be careful when they join, it is a nightmare to end the contract. Or their people are not prepared to sell properly or they just scam people keeping them prisoners of a contract they didn't want.
Faulty exercise bikes
The exercise bikes have been steadily failing over a number of months and although the local manager at Prenton has been engaged for several months with head office for replacements none have been forthcoming. We are now down to only 2 possibly 3 fully functioning bikes. I emailed customer services in August and apart from an automatic receipt reply I have heard nothing further to my enquiry about timescales to replace the bikes.
Fantastic fitness club.
Fantastic fitness club.
Really cant fault it.
Johnny in sales was brilliant explaining the membership options.
Liz the lifeguard was fab,
She saw i was being a bit cautious on my trial visit following a really bad accident and starting rehab.
She asked if i was ok and needed any help with anything.
It meant a lot.
She was so amazing.
After my trial i had no hesitation joining for 12 months for £69.00 a month which is very reasonable for what you get.(especially compared to other places)
Really cant fault total
fitness wilmslow.
Give it a try.
They offer no obligation free trial.
Joined total fitness when moved to the…
Joined total fitness when moved to the area but for the price of £50 I am very disappointed. In lincoln it is so over subscribed you can rarely get a class in the evening or aqua during the day despite trying to book within 5 mins of booking opened.
The place is very dirty, mats look and smell like they never cleaned..despite asking time and time again I never got my induction or free 1 2.1.. or shown around.
Many of the helpets are very rude and look at people if my age wirh disgust as though we should not be at a gym..tried to cancel membership after a year but you have to give 6 weeks notice
Distressing experience …
My husband and I joined TF Walkden about 18 months ago. We did lots of swimming Soon after my husband suffered from repeated severe ear infections and I suffered from repeated water infections. My doctor suggested we might be catching these infections from the swimming pool. We stopped swimming and no more infections.
We stopped our standing order when our time was up and as we were sent demands for payment regularly we repeatedly emailed to say we had cancelled the membership.
Now we have received a demand from a debt collector for nearly £300 as apparently you are supposed to cancel in writing.
We are pensioners and after a lot of distressing interaction with TF have reluctantly paid them for peace of mind
Be very wary of this company
HOWEVER after submitting the above I decided to email the chief executive, not really expecting a reply.
Within 2 hours I had a reply, very apologetic, agreeing to refund all the costs except one month cancellation fee!!
What a different approach, recommend everyone take the same approach.
Avoid
Avoid. Not recommended. Men's toilets are absolutely discussing and in the men's shower there is black mold pretty much everywhere. My experience when trying to cancel my membership has been long and drawn out. My payments should have stopped in May but this didn't happen. I contacted them and was told it'd be sorted. It wasn't. They took payment again in June. After more emails and calls I was told a refund of two months had been actioned and my membership cancelled. In July they took payment again. No refund. After another call I got July refunded but am still waiting for May and June. Again I've been told it'll be sorted so let's see. I feel there is no respect for their customers.
No customer focus
Been a long time member at TF but cancelled my membership as I would be away for several months, however, TF continued taking my subscription and that's when the problem started.
Could not get anyone to listen. Sent email after email to customer services who always "experience a high volume of enquiries" so can't answer your enquiry immediately.
Even wrote to the CEO at their HQ.....no reply. What an outfit.
No care for members and no customer focus.
Quick response
Regarding my last experience, total fitness is responding to emails within short time.
Disgusting treatment of worker who’s just retired
A lady retired after 18 year service at the Prenton Merseyside branch, she got absolutely fk all when she left, this company is a disgrace, I am not renewing my membership, I’m not the only one, how the hell she stayed for that long on the pitance she got I don’t know, good luck to her in her retirement, she’s a loverly lady and hand on heart she was the best grafter there
Seen the rest, Shay is the best
Seen the rest, Shay is the best, Ex Manchester United, Newcastle, Marseille’s, Sienna Trainer who could you find better. So knowledgable so considerate a must to keep you in shape or fix most conditions.

The showers are utter grim
The showers are utter grim, filthy, cubicles are slimy to touch and covered in other people's hair
The number of people who jump straight from the sauna into the pool without using the showers to rinse off is utter gross!
The classes are good
Gym equipment is great
Overall, it's so overpriced for the quality of the pool area
Pool is closed so so so often it's a nightmare really
Chester TF
Chester TF. Pool today more rank than usual, verging on health hazard. Shower then cold & reception found it all funny. Is this really what I pay for??
Disgraceful & some customer service training is required
Wish I could give less than 1 star!
I have tried to cancel my membership as I moved away from the Area over 10 months ago now.
terrible customer service, app won't let me log in and on hold for ages without success.
I cannot cancel with my bank as they have set it up in a clever way apparently.
AVOID!
The pool is absolutely filthy
The pool is absolutely filthy. The women’s changing room is actually ok, quite clean. Then the walk though to the pool is filthy by the showers, the floor looks like it is never cleaned with huge build ups of hair on the floor. The baby pool is the worst, I enjoyed swimming in this pool as it is heated however I started to notice it never gets cleaned. Whether there is something wrong with the filter I don’t know? The plasters that are on the bottom of the pool in both the baby pool and the normal pool are left there for literally weeks. To the point where I avoid going for weeks and after 3-4 weeks of avoiding, I go back and the same plasters are still in the pool. There was the same piece of wet tissue on the side of the baby pool for around 3 weeks. People wear swimming shoes from the changing room and walk into the pool and swim with them on, bringing hair and filth into the pool from the floor outside that doesn’t get cleaned. This shouldn’t be allowed. Also the staff wear dirty trainers around the pool that they clearly wear outside and bring dirt into the pool area. There are signs saying no outdoor shoes yet apparently this doesn’t apply to the staff who are constantly walking in and out of the main reception to the pool area.
Expensive & dirty/no soap &the shower sensors are PAIN in the neck
This review is about the male shower in Total fitness in Chester:
The showers are always dirty, if you don't use slippers, you get fungal infection in your toes (alethic foot) within a day.
The Sensors in the showers are PAIN in the neck. they gives you small amount of water then you have to shiver for a minute before it starts again for few sec. and then another minute waiting for water and so on. They can reset the sensor or change to another system but the wont!!!. Having a shower is a real poor experience in this setting
The soap containers are empty most of the time.
The sauna in male shower is off lots of the time.
It needs change of management.
We deserve better gym in Chester
Worst of the worst
Cancelled membership 1 day after signing and they won't refund me even I an within the 14 day cooling off period. Numerous emails ignored, shocking service and staff.
Be prepared to be on hold for an hour …
Trying to call and speak to somebody leaves you on hold for a minimum of an hour
Total Fitness Whitefield
Total Fitness Whitefield - Spin drier in gents showers has been removed "for repair" for over 6 weeks now. Steam room suffers from an acute lack of steam. Showers on the right hand side suffer from alternating hot/cold water supply - clearly faulty thermostatic mixing valve. Walls and cubicle panels in showers are filthy and collecting grime. Same in the shower area near the "steam room". General neglected aspect - poor maintenance / management.
