I recieved a notice from DRP that they had been asked to recover a parking charge on behalf of APCOA. This was an error on the part of the company which had issued the charge, and Leon and the DRP tea... See more

These guys sent me an unsolicited…
These guys sent me an unsolicited message claiming I owe £170 with no context whatsoever, just a reference number online. All it does is prompt you to pay, with no location, date, or time information. I suspect it was when I was at a venue when you had to enter your car reg, to which the manager said not to bother at the bar. I asked him to put in the car reg anyway! Never hear back when you request a call back never hear or get hold of anyone when you call, sounds like these low lives do this to everyone. The worst thing is I will be fuming if they say I have not paid and send more threatening messages, I do not pay without the right to reply and a fair hearing of appeal. Can't scare and abuse people into paying, very shady company! I will be reporting them to all of the above, action fraud, financial ombudsman and POLA oh and the police, watchdog and spreading the lies and the cancer that they are on social media!
**update**
I fought back, I asked the owner of the restaurant of which my car was parked in managed by Euro car parks and handed over to DRP, I explained what had happened and DRP had no choice but to refund me! Unlucky crooks - I don’t give up 🤣🤣

Fraudulent Company
They have just tried to take £100 from my credit card. I do not know who these people are, I have no business with them, so I do not have a reference number. I cannot get hold of anyone, so I will need to file a fraud case against them. Very annoying when you have done nothing wrong. I do not know how they got my Credit Card number. But that's been cancelled now!
Updated for reply.
As I have already stated, I do not have a reference number so I cannot get through.

Absolutely appalling
Absolutely appalling, I was on hold for over an hour on more than one occasion. Had a plan set up and they couldn't even get that right. Even tried their live chat but nobody there either.

I received repeated letters from Debt…
I received repeated letters from Debt Recovery Plus (DRP) about a Manchester Airport drop-off parking charge.
When I challenged them, DRP confirmed in writing that:
• The charge was not issued under POFA 2012, meaning they cannot pursue me as the keeper.
• They are not the creditor and have no legal standing to take anyone to court.
• They cannot provide landowner authority or contracts unless a case ever reached court.
Despite these admissions, they still demanded £170, including a £70 “debt recovery” add-on which is not legally enforceable.
⚠️ Advice to motorists: DRP are only debt collectors. They cannot issue court claims, cannot send bailiffs, and cannot affect your credit record. Their business model is based on sending intimidating template letters in the hope people pay without checking their rights.
Always research before paying — don’t be scared into handing over money that isn’t lawfully owed.

Having spent 6 hours in total on hold, I wonder if you could "reach out" and help me resolve my issue?

IMPORTANT: Read this first if you received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus
IMPORTANT: If you have received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus read this so you are fully aware and informed of what to expect. I have documented what happens after dealing with them for you.
Debt Recovery Plus company's house number Company number 06774150.
A) Expect 2-3 hour wait: as many people have mentioned in Trustpilot, don't expect as any other service to wait 10-15 minutes. Prepare yourself to wait up to 3 hours. When they finally pick up, know that they will likely hang up, so allocate another 2-3 hours for more calls. It's one of their tactics.
B) You May NOT HAVE THE OPTION to Pay or Get a Payment Plan. The agent will not necessarily make that an option available for you despite what is stated in the letter. "ROBERT" did not want to discuss payments, he went straight to "I'm going to recommend we take this to court". In fact his exact words: "I'm not going to discuss this I am going to initiate the court process and I will hang up now." If the calls are recorded as they said, they incriminated themselves. If you are Robert's manager, trace this call and listen to it so you know what your agents are doing. You might anticipate an opportunity to appeal or "find out more" during the call, Robert did not entertain that option so don't expect a "human" or reasonable conversation or to follow a payment process.
3) DO NOT EXPECT COMPLIANCE: DRP is an accredited member of the British Parking Association and the International Parking Community. As such they are required to 1) Allow 10-minute grace period before issuing a charge 2) Section 14 says the operator must provide sufficient evidence. 3) Section 17 guarantees the right to a proper appeals process 4) The code caps charges at £100 under normal conditions. Read the reviews, most people are being charged £165-£170. That’s a 65% increase over the legal limit which they are obliged to evidence. REALITY of my case: 1) I was at the car park less than 10 minutes and I did not receive anything proving otherwise 2) They waive the right to evidence, I have received zero evidence, no photographs, nothing, simply one letter with an amount "owed" 3) The amount in the letter was for £165 (well above the legal limit) but ROBERT said in the call the actual amount is £325. No explanation, no evidence, I have no idea what he is talking about another parking incident. That will not stop them from adding fees to your invoice without evidence or any information. 4) Do not expect an opportunity to appeal the process, as Robert demonstrated it appears agents are entitled to "skip" the appeal and threaten court.
D) What You Can Do
If you want to stand your ground (and you should), here are concrete steps:
-Contact the client (Horizon Parking Ltd) clients are include in the top right section of the letters.
Many people in blogs report clients respond more reasonably when approached directly and they are able to reach more favorable settlement terms.
-Ask them for all evidence, appeal rights, and an explanation for the inflated charges.
-Report to Citizens Advice Bureau
They will log complaints against DRP and can escalate systemic abuses.
-Complain to the Financial Ombudsman
Provide the timeline: no evidence, inflated charges, refusal to offer appeal, intimidation.
Escalate to the BPA/IPC
File a complaint against DRP for breach of the Single Code.
Public Forums
Share your experience on Which, Trustpilot, Money Saving Expert, Reddit forums, etc.
The more public documentation exists, the less credible DRP’s tactics become.
You are now informed of who you are dealing with.
You have to wonder what type of people wake up every morning with the aspiration of working for a debt collection shop? And what type of directors have peace leading a company with ZERO ethics or compliance. Well that's the people we are dealing with here, so do not expect the service we are used to from companies that understand service or compliance, be prepared and take action accordingly.

Received a letter saying i owe £170 for an unpaid parking fine (euro car parks). I have paid this fine with euro car parks and have proof! Trying to call Debt Recovery Plus - cut off by the agent 1st time. Calling again but 40 mins so far and no one picks up! Disgusting service from both companies!

Zero customer service
Zero customer service. We stay on hold for hours, but no agent answers any calls. You send falsely accused, threatening letters with no option to appeal or alternative to contact you. You should go to court and be locked up for this scam service.

Awful company
Awful company.
My fine was ages ago, but google showed me my reviews today so I thought “I’ll leave another”
Staff try bully tactics, but looking on glass door I would probably be quite rude to people too.
I paid about £150 I imagine the profit they made was £30-£40 which I would pay again just to irritate the staff…. Which was a lot of fun.
Agent SRI (5*) was very helpful
Agent SRI (5*) was very helpful, polite, efficient when I eventually got through.....but over 2 hrs waiting to get through is diabolical. A cynic would say it's a deliberate deterrent.

I sold my car from Exeter to A Taunton buyer. Instead of checking with the DVLA they send us a debt of £155 for Sainsburys Taunton there is NO proof whatsoever we were there because we were not there we live in Exeter.
Incompetent people.Leave us alone and send to the right person!
((I already contacted you by email 3 times 23rd September and left my contact details))

Terrible service
Terrible service,
Had a parking fine issued in June.
Received 1 letter, which says 4 of 5 been sent. I have absolutely NOT received the other letters prior.
I’ve been on hold for over an hour and half to speak to someone about the ONE letter I have received.
Unacceptable for them to chase me and my money, but when I want to speak to them. They cannot be bothered to answer their phones.
Very unhelpful when you do get through.
Also note they close at 7pm
I rang before 6pm. And as I type this. They have now cut me off the line.

I don't know how these people sleep at night! Lisa Clure, Gareth Brierley, Stewart Clure, Brian William Maynard, Susan Lesley Ring who own this company should be ashamed.
They keep sending me letters saying I owe £165.00, yet I have phoned them countless times and to no avail.
We picked my son up in June at Luton airport. Went through twice at £5 a time. The next day I paid both charges and have bank evidence and carried on with my life.
I then started getting letters saying we never paid. I have evidence!
I have tried contacting Apcoa who said they will look into it (clearly they haven't) and have no way of contacting Debt recovery plus, because they have no email address and don't pick up their phones.
They have caused me stress for no reason. They claim on their website they are - Changing the face of debt resolution. Ethically | Expertly | Efficiently - Yeah right, and pigs fly! You are anything but ethical. You cause stress to everyday people and lack compassion or empathy to how this effects peoples lives.

You would think I didn’t want to pay
You would think I didn’t want to pay, 3 times of being on hold for 45 minutes just today. This is how they make their money and that is not being able to get hold of them so they send more letters and charges

Wrong Address
I have been receiving 2 to 3 letters a day for over a year now, from this company, for someone who doesn't live here. I've loved here for 6 years and never heard of them. Every letter is sent back marked up as Not At This Address but they continue to arrive. I have tried to contact them but as I don't know the case number (not my mail so I won't open it) they won't help. I only know its this company from googling the return address on the envelope.
Surely the amount wasted on postage is more than any fine this person must owe. Please stop sending letters

Terrible company, hostile tactics
Terrible company, hostile tactics. They followed up on a parking fine letter, which they say is the 2nd time they've tried to contact me. Incorrect this is the first so parking fine increased from £60 to £170. A random figure they just plucked out of thin air.
Went to a gym for a day pass and gym didnt even tell me to register my car.
What is this world coming too. How can people who work for companies such as these sleep at night.

Absolute joke
Absolute joke! They send out letters to say we owe money for 2 parking drop off charges in manchester airport. The apcoa system only allows 24hrs to pay on the website. We live in australia. Given travel time the 24hrs surpassed. Then try to call these clowns. No one ever answers the phones. Sat on hold for multiple times for long periods. I refuse to pay the charges as tried to get the initial charge paid as soon as possible as i arrived home.
