Sky’s dubious practices!!

Just to update Sky customers - I was cut off from my phone line yesterday!!! I’m registered disabled and my phone is my only means of contacting the outside world!! Sky basically blackmailed me into paying the outstanding amount on my bill ( which I am contesting) before I could call them to complain about their abysmal customer service!! Someone called Nadia is calling me today to update me on the complaint which I am taking to Ofcom for them to investigate Sky’s very dubious practices. They are very plausible on the phone but as a customer of many years I’m hoping to cancel my Sky mobile contract AND my television subscription as I have totally lost confidence in this corrupt organisation!! Why do Sky not comment on ANY of the reviews left con Trustpilot????

Absolutely abysmal customer service…

Absolutely abysmal customer service from Sky! I went on holiday to America recently and paid for 1 day of phone service costing £2 - they have tried to charge me for 7 days!!! I had cruise credit for my phone and did not request any extra from Sky!! I have tried emailing and phoned on Friday 10 October to make a formal complaint was promised a call back with 24/48 hours - naturally I’m still waiting! I have my television and dual room service from Sky and have had many issues over the years!! Shocking customer service from a company who used to pride itself on very quick and reliable customer service. I am making a formal complaint to the regulator. Very very disappointed in Sky!!!!

I wanted to update the situation…DRP update!

I wanted to update the situation regarding the company- Debt Recovery Plus! I responded to their request for further details and gave my reference number and telephone and email address! After TWO weeks I still have not heard from Abigale who is apparently handling my case! I cannot access them by their email address and the phone number given is ringing out! ( I have evidence of the 3 calls I have made to the number from my mobile supplier) I have sought advice from my solicitor and my local Citizens Advice Centre ( please be aware that Scottish Law is different from the law that applies in England and Wales) and I’m very confident that should this bogus claim go to court action the evidence I have will lead to a good outcome! I have read the testimonials from many other affected motorists who have been affected by this organisation and hope that we will support each other against this disreputable organisation! Stay strong folks!!!

Tide - poor service

Hi - we have a Tide business account and pay £14.99 for the privilege!

Recently I had two instances where my card was declined at a petrol station and my local Screwfix store causing me embarrassment and frustration. No reasonable explanation was given to me and we had plenty of money in our account!!

Definitely thinking of moving our business away from Tide as it’s difficult to get an explanation and they are not good at answering queries!!!

I would avoid if you need a reliable business account for your financial needs!

We appreciate you sharing this with us, Iain. We get how frustrating card declines can be, especially when there’s money in the account. That’s not the kind of experience we want for our members.

Just to clarify, we do offer a ‘pay at pump’ feature, but it’s only supported at certain petrol stations. You can find more details about how it works here: https://www.tide.co/support/features/pay-at-pump/how-does-pay-at-pump-work/ , and the list of supported stations here: https://www.tide.co/support/features/pay-at-pump/which-fuel-stations-can-i-use-pay-at-pump-at/

We’ve also just sent you an email via Trustpilot titled “Request for information about your experience.” Once you reply, we’ll look into what went wrong and help get this resolved.

Update: Thank you for providing us with the details we requested, Iain, we're on it.

I parked my car in the car park at Palace Grounds Retail park in Hamilton on Sunday 8 June 2025 at approximately 10.40 in a clearly marked disabled space and displayed my appropriate disc. I left the car park after approximately 1.5 hours. I returned there approximately 3 hours later to pick up my grandson and one of his friends after competing in a football competition at the adjacent football pitches. My wife (Christina) accompanied me. We left after visiting the McDonalds restaurant again after approximately an hour in the car park. I received a letter dated 28 August stating that I had failed to answer previous correspondence advising me that I overstayed the” maximum time period allowed”! This was the first notice I received! I tried to call the company on their phone line but there was no answer after waiting for over 20 minutes ( I have evidence of this from my mobile provider) I then tried the website but it appears that it is not a recognised address! I’m sure my experience is resonating for many previous victims of this unscrupulous organisation! I then received a further letter dated 11 September which arrived yesterday (22 September 2025) again stating that I owe £170! This is a pattern from DRP which obviously intends to intimidate victims to pay the inflated charge after no previous correspondence or giving the victims an opportunity to raise a challenge to the charge! I have been in contact with my local Citizens Advice centre locally and also contacted a local solicitor for advice on this. I should state that Scottish law is different to the laws of England and Wales. However, I am NOT intending to pay this unlawful charge and have signed testimonies from several witnesses who were in the car park and who are willing to state that I left when I stated earlier and returned later on that day. This dreadful organisation do not seem to care about the rules that apply and are simply making money by being deceptive and playing on innocent motorists worst fears! The latest correspondence mentioned that Abigale is looking after my case but as explained earlier I simply CANNOT contact DRP because they do NOT answer their phones or their the website! I look forward to my day in court! I notice that DRP do not give a name when they say that “ we are continuing to strive to answer queries “ when they answer questions after being blasted by victims on Trustpilot! I hope Abigale will reach out to me following this honest testimonial?

The Magnificent Mile hotel is part of…

The Magnificent Mile hotel is part of the Chicago Hotel collection and is undoubtedly the WORST hotel we have ever stayed in!

We arrived on Saturday 23 August 2025 and were immediately hit with a “tourist tax of over 432 dollars!!” It is the biggest rip off ever! We are in room 2804 and it’s very very poor! The curtains don’t close and there is a massive stain on the ceiling where there has obviously been a leak from upstairs! Now you would think that after being fleeced for all that money that the room would be at least cleaned daily? Not a chance! Same towels for 3 days and we had to provide our own toilet paper!

What do you get for all this money? Not a lot! It really is the pits of a hotel and by writing this review I am hoping to warn anyone thinking of staying here- DONT!!!!!

We have warned off a group of friends who are part of a choir and have moved their booking to another hotel who will not rip them off! The staff look embarrassed by the fact that guests have lined up to complain about the charge which is totally unacceptable and unjustified!!

Please think twice if you are thinking of booking a stay here - there are many hotels in this area which will not charge anything like the price which we had to pay! After saving up for so long to enjoy this wonderful city it is sad that we feel so very upset by this poor excuse for a hotel!!

Scottish Power - the worst!

Hi - this is an update on the disaster that is Scottish Power.

We are pensioners who have SP as our energy suppliers. We had cause to complain about their shoddy and unprofessional behaviour and have raised a formal complaint which they have done their best to ignore, demean and generally avoid dealing with!

I have been corresponding with Declan McGarvey at the company and have requested on at least FOUR separate occasions to send me a hard copy of their deadlock letter because we do not have access to a printer and have several health issues to contend with.

He has totally ignored my requests and following my last review I received a message from a Cassie at SP who asked me to contact SP on Facebook!

I’m not on social media and contacted SP to request an email instead - after 10 days I’m still waiting!

I have been contacting friends and neighbours regarding my dealings with Scottish Power and I’m delighted to say that many former and existing customers of SP are now thinking of leaving them or indeed have decided to remove this toxic company from their home.

I have now joined Octopus Energy and received £50 of free fuel and my sponsor also received the same👍

I would urge anyone to read the reviews of SP on Trustpilot and if they are thinking of leaving SP or are contemplating joining them for their energy to think very very carefully as this company are among the very worst organisations to ever be reviewed on a national scale.

I will NOT be silenced and will contact SP again to ask them to send me what I have requested! I don’t think it is remotely difficult to send a copy of a letter to a vulnerable pensioner?

For your information the Chief Executive of SP is Keith Anderson and my next letter of complaint will be addressed to him - please join me in advising this gentleman how badly his organisation is treating customers!!

Scottish Power - stay away!

Hi - I’m a very disappointed and disgusted customer of Scottish Power!

I’ve raised a complaint against them and they have tried every trick they have to make it almost impossible to resolve. The main culprit is a gentleman by the name of Declan McGarvey! I’ve requested on at least 4 different occasions to ask him to send me a hard copy of my deadlock letter as I do not have access to a printer.

Not an unreasonable request you may think? He’s completely and utterly ignored my requests! I’ve been to the Citizens Advice Bureau and their representative advised me that Scottish Power are the MOST complained about company they have!!

The representative there urged me to write a review and encourage every single person who has had a complaint against this organisation to formally complain about their practices AND to write to their CEO Keith Anderson outlining their grievance. We are pensioners and I’ve never experienced an organisation like SP! The most unprofessional and lazy organisation who don’t give a damn about their customers. I hope that this review will be read and shared to other people who may wish to use SP as their energy provider and hopefully they will steer well clear of this organisation!!!

I have written previously about the…

I have written previously about the actions (and non actions) of Scottish Power. We are pensioners and trusted Scottish Power to treat us with dignity and respect regarding our utility. We have had many many problems and issues ranging from not returning calls and emails to sending correspondence to my wife when they had AGREED not to. This caused great upset and anxiety along with stress. I raised a formal complaint in April this year and despite many calls, texts and emails to the company I’m STILL waiting on a one line letter from them stating that we are in a deadlock situation. This will enable me to take my evidence to the regulatory body to make a decision on the merits of my complaint. In the meantime I have spent a lot of time spelling out to friends, neighbours and work colleagues exactly how badly we have been treated by Scottish Power. I’m delighted that at least 4 family’s have read all the negative reviews on Trustpilot and moved their energy needs to Octopus Energy and banked £50 worth of free fuel!! Octopus are a relatively small organisation who treat their customers with care and are regarded as a very good customer service provider. I can’t wait to be done with Scottish Power and I would urge any and all customers of this very unprofessional and lazy organisation to read the poor service records detailed in Trustpilot and make the move to Octopus energy NOW! Believe me you won’t regret it!!!

Scottish Power - Abysmal

I’m writing this article after reading many other scathing reviews about Scottish Power. I’ve never dealt with a company who are SO very bad on customer service!!

We have been promised call backs on three different occasions and nothing! We’ve raised a formal complaint regarding their abysmal performance and have had return emails which have not followed procedure and have left us bewildered and confused! To any vulnerable people who may be thinking of joining this joke of an organisation PLEASE think again!!!

I have requested that they send me a deadlock letter to allow me to formally raise a complaint with the energy regulator on several occasions but they keep stalling and using blocking tactics!

I cannot wait to be shot of this dreadful company once and for all - please read all the reviews on Trustpilot if you are in any doubt about their total incompetence and downright dishonest practices!!!

I visited the Burger King outlet in…bad meal at BK

I visited the Burger King outlet in Edinburgh Waverley station on Saturday 24 May 2025 at approx 9.45 pm. I was in a hurry for a train home and quickly ordered a spicy mayo king chicken and paid £8.78. The order arrived and I quickly made my way to my train. On opening the wrapper it was obvious that the meal was cold! I took a bite but it was not edible! I tried to make Burger King aware of my experience on their feedback form but it will not allow me to enter the time of my purchase on the App! This might seem a trivial complaint but I have supported Burger King for many years and never felt so let down!

Why do they make it so difficult to raise concerns on the App? I’ll maybe think twice next time !! Need to do better BK!

Scottish Power - Shame!

I wrote a critical review of Scottish Power a few days ago and they have responded to me by requesting that I contact them by Twitter (I don’t know in the slightest how to do this) or by their Facebook page (again I have no idea how to use this site)! In the meantime they wrote a letter addressed to my wife but the first line of the text says my name!! The letter is dated 6 May 2025 - I have requested that ALL correspondence is addressed to ME as my wife is ill and cannot deal with the stress and worry of this situation!! It is lazy and very unprofessional from Scottish Power. I am a pensioner and do not understand how social media works! What’s wrong with giving me an email address or a phone number I can call to get this sorted?

I’m at my wits end with this organisation and cannot wait to get this sorted so that I can leave them and join a company who will respect us and treat us with empathy and dignity!!!

My wife and I used our life savings to buy a small flat in Gourock to use as an Airbnb. We kept Scottish Power as the supplier of energy as they were already set up there. We tried to arrange a smart meter for electricity and gas but only an electric meter has been installed - we’ve made attempts to upgrade the gas but with no luck!

The flat has been used and we assumed that billing would be done on a regular basis but were astounded when a bill for over £1300 landed in my emails!!!

I called on Tuesday 6 May to try and set up a payment plan but the line was constantly busy - I arranged a call back and it came 25 minutes later. After the representative spoke to me for a few minutes they said that we could sort this but then they hung up on me! I have the details of the call from my mobile supplier and will use this to make a formal complaint to the energy ombudsman. I told several friend and some of them have had similar experience of very poor customer service from Scottish Power!! On looking at previous reviews of this organisation I can see why!!!

When I get the problem sorted I will be moving energy suppliers to a company that treats elderly customers with a bit of respect and dignity.

Please be warned about Scottish power!

Hi my name is Iain Gentles and I have written several reviews regarding Temu.

After my last correspondence Temu asked for my details for them to contact me to ascertain from me exactly what has gone wrong with the last order which they send me on February 5 and 6 this year. I gave them the order number, date of order AND the details of exactly the date and time when my First Direct bank account was debited!

Yet they have still to contact me by email OR telephone - I passed both of these details to them. The way this organisation operates is to bombard customers with texts and emails promising them goods at knockdown prices and to then ignore reasonable requests to return unwanted goods!

I am at my wits end with this company and today have sent back goods totalling £131 but although the package was scanned at my local post office I have very little faith that I will be compensated because they refuse to answer my emails requesting details of my order!

Please be very very wary of ordering goods from this organisation 🙏

They have never shown me a shred of respect or compassion as a vulnerable pensioner and who does not understand how this company carries out its dubious practices.

My wife called Quickdrainclear Ltd on Monday 10 March to request a call-out for our blocked toilet. The representative said that they could send someone that night. They called at 6.45 and the worker immediately pushed a plunger into the toilet and cleared the blockage - he was in our house for less than 30 seconds!! He then charged us £144!!!! We had thought the cost would be £40 plus vat! We were totally duped by this organisation and we wanted to warn other unsuspecting potential customers to be very wary of Quickdrainclear Limited! We are pensioners and we both have mobility issues but feel extremely let down by this company. My wife phoned the owner on Tuesday but he was very unhelpful and dismissive - we are investigating if we can contact Trading Standards or if there is a regulator who could investigate the practices of Quickdrainclear Limited. We both feel very let down and exploited.

Temu - be warned

Hi - I have written several reviews of Temu to warn ANY potential customers to be very very cautious when dealing with this organisation.

I accidentally hit the order button on the Temu App on my phone - this led to me receiving three different packages with goods I did not want ( to be honest the quality of the items is very poor).

Despite advising Temu of the EXACT date, time of purchase AND which bank I used, they claim that they cannot trace my order!!!

I have been trying for almost a month to try and find a resolution to this situation but they keep sending standard emails claiming that my email address “does not exist”!!!

I am urging anyone who wishes to order from Temu to think very carefully and not make the same very costly mistake that I have made. They are an unscrupulous and corrupt company who do not care about any customer service whatsoever and will stop at nothing to get your money!

Please also warn any friends and family too!!

I have written several reviews of Temu and I wanted to update you on the latest response from them. I mistakenly hit the purchase button on my phone on 29 January 2025 and Temu sent me items I did not want. They cleverly add items on to your order without your knowledge and I ended up with a £131 bill! I have contacted them several times to request a refund but although I sent them precise details of the time of purchase, the date of purchase AND the bank which sent the money to them, they claim that they cannot find the order!!

The customer service is shocking and I wanted to warn anyone thinking of buying anything from Temu to be very very careful. I am a pensioner on a limited fixed income and am out of pocket to the tune of £131 and relying on family members to help me in the short term. Please be wary of this company!!!!
