Offerup would rather ban than resolve issues
I've been an avid user of Offerup for a decade. I tried to login today and was greeted by the message, "your account is banned." No warning. No emails or notifications. No explanation. I contacted support to figure out what happened and Offerup responded with, "we dont have to tell you." hahaha.
The exact wording "OfferUp reserves the right to remove items or profiles at its own discretion with or without previous warning or education efforts."
So after 10 years of active service and helping to generate revenue, I received no notice, just ban, with no explanation. Perhaps Offerup is trying to downgrade their site and push all of their customers to Facebook Marketplace?
Offerup has been going downhill for a while especially with bots and scammers, but they aren't the brightest in the shed. When the platform, Offerup, is just banning long-standing customers without reason, explanation, or notification on how to resolve whatever issue they are claiming happened, you can expect people will just enjoy other platforms that work with their customers for the mutually beneficial relationship.
Whenever I have an issue on Facebook Marketplace, Facebook support is available and super helpful to correct whatever needs correcting.
We watched as Craigslist turned into a cesspool and now Offerup is following the same path. At least I won't be required to endure the scams and abuse on Offerup any longer.
Good luck to those still stuck using Offerup, but try out FB Marketplace and other platforms. You may be presently surprised.
1 star because the Offerup platform has chosen not to resolve any issues with their customers any more and just ban accounts. Really poor business model.
One star is too much for OfferUp
One star is too much for OfferUp!
I've been using OfferUp for a number of years; listing items for sale on their site has its faults. They never corrected sight problems. If I want to list a bunch of things, I always found other sights more user friendly.
Recently I posted a skirt suit and a pair of shoes. I get a quick response that my skirt suit is sold and they just need me to log in at a sight and give private information.
This is a common scam! I do not respond to these.
I periodically check my listings, for updates, interests etc.
I find OfferUp has deactivated my account. No reason given.
I got in touch with Support and the only so called support was an AI generic and same wording response over and over, no matter what questions I asked.
Finally I was asked if I want to speak to an actual person.
I submitted my Name and Email address per their request.
OfferUp responds, my email, which has been the same for a number of years, is NOT a valid one.
This is OfferUp's NON Support!
No emails following - No trying to get in touch -

I purchased a washer for $325
I purchased a washer for $325, seller (scammer) offers 30 day warranty on all of their listings, they sell apploancess, we made the deal by messages over offer up, seller asked for the payment to be cash only, i didn't see this red flag, I though offer up was a trustfull site like ebay
The washer was delivered to my house and i got a receipt with the 30 day warranty, the first day trying to use the washer didn't work and seller never responded to my messages, I tried to file a claim with offer up, but customer support said they could not do anything about, i was to naive when paying cash, I am a boomer so I do trust people, sadly people turn to evil, can't trust anyone or any site like offer up anymore
PLEASE REED THIS BEFORE MAKING ANY TRANSACTION ON THIS SITE FULL OF SCAMMERS

Absolutely the worst experience I ever…
Absolutely the worst experience I ever had. Sold something for amount smaller than $60 with shipping, and before I had a chance to put accounting info for depositing that money something went wrong with my profile and credentials were expired. Now having nonexistent customer support, no people to talk to, I had no other recourse than to forfeit my $56. They allegedly have moderators but that is more useless, they don’t do anything, there’s no person to get in charge even though they charge you $5-$10 per listing vehicles and take a cut when you ship items. This used to be great popular platform that is now neglected and now not used to generate money, no customer service. And the whole reason my account was taken down is because of one ridiculous complaint from customer, not even legitimate, I had no opportunity to defend my point.

Offerup has been a sinking ship ever…
Offerup has been a sinking ship ever since they merged with Letgo back in 2020.
The app has ZERO customer service. If you are patient enough to leave through the obnoxious self help articles, click back and forth enough, it might open the secret portal to let you send an inquiry to customer service but, even IF someone responds back, it's like they don't even read what you wrote about. Perhaps saying artificial robot sends a generic claim response back to you. They may tell you to clear your cache, for stop, uninstall and reinstall the app, login and log out or to send them a screenshot or video of the problem. Well, even if you tell them up front, hey here's a screenshot, I've also cleared the cache, forced stop, uninstalled and reinstalled the app I logged in and logged out but it still doesn't seem to fix the problem.
I have gone back and forth with them multiple times with various problems with the app and it's like they just don't understand, like maybe they don't speak my language and don't know how to translate it. It's really weird.
This app keeps users accounts open even if they haven't even logged in or checked anything in years.
The same issue with items that are posted for sale. Let's see I'm moving and I post a bunch of things for sale and then I get busy and I forget and I don't delete the ads. Well that's okay, good old OfferUp will leave those ads up for you for years and years and years and constantly rotate them to look like fresh from new merchandise when in fact, you already sold everything or donated it's Goodwill and moved out of town and have a look at the app in years. Not to worry, they'll be there forever.
Good luck getting anybody to respond when you are interested in buying something. There are so many old outdated accounts and so much old merchandise to sift through.
I reached out to them one time and I said hey, would you guys ever consider doing like most online places do and automatically delete an ad after oh I don't know, 6 months of it being there? Or maybe send a reminder to the user to renew the ad or it will be automatically deleted or something I mean come on people, you rely on artificial intelligence to run the whole program, can't you program something in to tell the robot to take an ad down?
before they merged, this app used to be a very active great place to easily buy and sell things and everything was fresh and new and quite busy but, since the merger, OfferUp has just flushed this thing down the toilet.
Now, they have all kinds of job services and automobiles and handyman services and whatever else in the app is so cluttered. When you're scrolling all these little pop-up things block your actual visual window to see items because they're always trying to get you to go to timu or whatever else advertisers they're dealing with. The newest thing now is, if you're scrolling along out of nowhere, the screen locks up and they show you a video adding you have to watch it but luckily for me, I'm smart enough to know that if I close out the app and then open right back up again the ad is gone but, it's still annoying.
I stuck around with this app because I do occasionally get a nice treasure or sell something but it's very very uncommon anymore these days. I'm at the point right now where it's time to say goodbye to OfferUp because it's not doing my blood pressure or my wallet any good.

Don't Bother
I have tried to purchase various items and only 1 in 30 responded! Why do people put items up for sale if the do not want to sell them? I only contacted those who had activity in their account within a week and nothing -- no response. One gentleman responded and he did so right away. He was great but the rest -- wow, loaded with flaks.

Horrible experience selling nationwide
Horrible experience selling nationwide. My purse was returned broken after a weird buyer’s behavior. The person just probably wanted to use it. Offer up don’t have any police protecting the seller on that issue. Don’t recommend

They want you to pay for messages
They want you to pay them to get responses from sellers faster. So if you’re selling something and want to sell it quickly, they might be hiding buyer messages from you for some period of time, making it hard to coordinate. If you’re trying to buy something, they’re likely hiding your messages from sellers and likely making it harder for you to buy. This is not a normal way to handle direct messages, they have deliberately made them slower so you have to pay to make them work as normal.
Some of the drop down messages cover up item details or photos and don’t show a way to minimize them, this is an issue on both the website and app and is likely an easy fix in Java or CSS if they weren’t so concerned with cramming ads in the screen.
Search filters are less than bare minimum, you can’t search TVs for things like size, screen type, or features. So if I use the search term “smart TV”, it will show me everything with that phrase, including TV’s listed at “NOT a smart TV”. Even if you sort by highest to lowest, they’ll still pepper in a bunch of the most expensive items at the top that aren’t even sponsored by the seller.
Finally, how poor of a business decision maker do you have to be to post adds for eBay on your own reselling website?
I’ll be deleting the app again as soon as I find what I’m looking for.
Update: I tried their little 3 day free trial to get my messages simply delivered and it only worked on 2 chats. The other 10 I have open just trying to buy a stationary bike haven’t been read in over 24hrs. I’ve signed out multiple times, tried on desktop, deleted and re-installed the app like 5 times, nothing works to push messages through. Stick to Craig’s List, people actually respond because CL doesn’t hold messages in an attempt to shake you down for $8/mo.

I canceled my subscription within the 3-day trial window and they still charged my card. I waited 1.5 hours on the chat for the promised associate to arrive and they advised that the fine print indicates that the 3-day trial only lasts 48 hours and refused to refund me. Total scam. They're not looking for repeat customers, just gullible ones.

Don't bother, it's a waste of time and energy
I've tried to sell a few things and it's better just to donate your things as most people think everything should be under$20 then try to haggle with you, don't communicate or don't show up to pick up. I tried to sell a lightly used $500 printer for $250 and got complaints that it worked great but had a little dust on it (it was in storage a short whike) and then insisted on returning it (they probably just used it for a print job) Not worth the hassle of listing. I won't be using it again.

Premium plus literally lost me money
I can should have checked here before using it. I got charged not once but twice from these guys. Im sure it was just a "glitch" but yeah not only did its premium trial do nothing but they wanted like 35$. Well they got it because im tired of reaching out to these companys. Id rather help sink them so the legit ones can rise. 100% pass on this. Its not even worth a homeless persons time.

NOT FOR ME. SHITTY SITE!!!
Well now I have six people who I tried doing business with and not one has returned my messages or offers. This company does give a crap who list something and has no interest in being involved in a listing. So, how are they making money? I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SITE....IT'S A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME!!!
I continue to hope that something is done. If a report comes into you, delete the listing. Your not going to make money by leaving these unanswered listers anyway!!!

I had a charge of $19.99 for an offerUp subscription out of the blue charged to my CC. I tried to find a way to get it back but they have no contact information. I cancelled the subscription right away but I still want my money back. I cancelled the card right away to ensure it dosent happen again. I sold tons of stuff on the free application with no problems for many years. But now this scam made me quit the app and cancel. What a scam!!!
