Try to take money from my card twice despite the fact that my subscription was cancelled ages. The Police should look into this company. Especially in terms of its payments systems.

I cancelled my subscription 11/2024 and even got a subscription confirmation. However, they still debit the monthly amount from my account and do not respond to my mails. I don't know what to do. (From Germany)

Cancelled before free trial ended, they still charged me! Then it took many back and forth emails to get refund and confirmation of cancellation. Then they charged again the next month, did the same back and forth emails asking for same information to stall refund. I got so fed up I contacted my bank, filed a dispute and permanently blocked them from charging my credit card. Avoid these scammers!

BEWARE. Don't know how I got "subscribed" and it was impossible to figure out how the charges were started on my account. Had to ask for a merchant block on my credit card to assure recurring charges would stop.

The site seems to be populated with documents which are usually downloadable for free elsewhere. They have a weirdly aggressive approach to monetising a supposedly ‘free trial’ period. I couldn’t find much of any use. I requested a refund for the monthly subscription I felt conned into, minutes after I realised I had been scammed. Not convinced it will be refunded.
Re. Scribd reply - I did pay for a subscription in order to view a document. However, the 2 page document was not something that was worth a subscription. I understood from the site that I had a 1 month free trial. I felt scribd use a misleading and aggressive approach to monetising typical approach of scamming.

Got charged $12.80 today July 31st (07/31) for the end of the free trial. When I first subscribed I got a confirmation email saying my free trial was started July 1st (07/01). Additionally, the email said they would email me when my trail was about to end. I then got an email on July 15th (07/15) titled "We hope You're enjoying Scribd!" which has a line at the bottom of the email reminding me about my subscription 16 days before i was charged.
This company is very sneaky and will dance around reminding you about your subscription and then not allow a refund to be issued for your money back.

this kind of people just need to stop breathing. waste of air and food.
I am a technician. I need to look up alot of manuals so I can HELP people who are in serious trouble.
scribd has made sure I can NOT find those manuals anymore or I need to pay scribd. thi sis sooo discusting. this is not why Tim Berners-Lee has invented the internet. so that lazy people can make money out of me.
They do not send aan email if the free trial is ending and they do charge your card!

I never subscribed to scribd not even knew them before I got charged yesterday out of nowhere. I checked if I had an account there, maybe I just didn’t remembered but no, I don’t have one and never tried their free trial. I got charged through my PayPal which I barely use. Contacted their customer service yesterday, they said they would get back to me within 24hours and I’m still waiting. I hope to get refunded as soon as possible.

Downloaded a technical manual. Of the 480 page PDF only got 8 pages yet was charged for the full manual.
The entire sight is a scam.

My case is almost EXACTLY like Carlos' !! I didn't even know scribd existed until only recently I noticed a weird name in my bank account. I thought it was from my groceries or something at first... But I realized they've been charging me silently for... the last 21 months ?!
I regularly check my emails and other notifications - nothing ! Only about the free trial YEARS ago, after I wanted to consult a few scientific papers... Those same texts currently available on the same website for free/behind ad... WTF? Yes, they gave me my activity history after I asked so there's no doubt.
I'm now certain that I've got this random website totally out of my memory, precisely because I WAS SURE at the time that I did successfully attempt the cancellation process. Scribd is definitely not only deceptive but a literal scam company acting against the law despite their efforts to drown the fish. So I don't want 3 months back, or even 13. They owe me €230 and I'm gonna get them back. Because that's half my student savings.
I also have proofs that they're not just deceptive but reportedly removing most content from users who cancel their next payment even after they've paid for the current month ! After a single complain they also make sure to fully delete our account to discourage us from coming back and investigating more...

Trying to access a so-called "free" PDF document actually means giving them your credit card details. No thanks.

They sent me an email saying that they would remind me when my trial ends. I received an email a week or so later, saying we hope you are enjoying your free trial. Nothing after that. No end of trial reminder no further communication. Yesterday, I noticed they have been charging me monthly for over two years. They will refund 3 months.

Most frustraiting and useless customer service ever invented. Stay away or be prepared to just throw away your money.

Impossible to log in to cancel subscription, thank God for Pay Pal to block future payments
Costs $14.95 AUS a month and $29 US to cancel (according to another review)
Stay well away

Scribed offers a free trial. What they don't mention is that it costs $29 (US?) to unsubscribe. So glad I had the foresight to check the process before subscribing. This is misleading and dishonest and a shameful way to draw people into paying for what is offered as free. Shame on you, Scribd!

They are using my books without my permission.
