I did a review shortly after moving in and gave 5 stars so wanted to revisit now that we have lived in the property for 3 years. Overall the house has been great and the neighbourhood is lovely. On David Wilson themselves the sales to completion process was great and the on-site aftercare was brilliant too. Since moving to the support of the Customer Care team we have had mixed experiences. Generally they have honoured commitments to fix any issues and the tradespeople used have been generally good. However we have had numerous issues with our en-suite shower and DWH have failed repeatedly to ensure the correct standard of fix has been applied. In Jan 2024 we had to have the whole room ripped out due to escape of water and a full rebuild. Then in July of this year we once again found water streaming through our ceiling below. The tradesman who inspected found numerous issues in how the previous fix had been applied (a recurring pattern) and again we had to have work done to fix. David Wilson will not commit currently to covering the latest fix for more than 12 months even though we have had numerous issues and water flooded through our ceiling 17 months on last time around. We still haven't had 2 years go by without water coming through the ceiling so we have asked to speak to a local area director on the matter but the customer care team generally answer questions like a chat bot and do not seem to really care about the experience we have gone through. I really don't think it is unreasonable for DWH to commit to their customers that they will go two years without water pouring through a ceiling due to their improper workmanship.

Overall my experience was really good from the start. The sales lady Karen was really brilliant, she made me feel like a valuable customer and her communication on big or small issues was really top notch.
The team from the Sales manager, Site Manager and workers on the site were all respectful, helpful and friendly. I cannot thank them enough for their help.

I’ve had a damp patch in my bathroom for nearly two months, and it has now spread significantly and developed mould spores. Customer service sent two people out, but all they did was take photos and dismiss it as “not a big issue.” Meanwhile, your own team has told us not to use the shower until it’s fixed — which makes it clear this is a serious problem.
What we can see on the surface is likely only a fraction of the damage happening behind the wall and tiles. The way this has been handled is completely unacceptable. Customer service has been shocking, and after all this time the problem still hasn’t been resolved.

When we first started looking at David Wilson homes we were selling our house at the time and was asked by beth if we considered part exchange at one of their selling events when we came to look at some of the show homes and thought we'd give it a try.when we arranged to part exchange on a property we really liked had an offer on the value of our house which was very reasonable so we agreed .we used the mortgage advisors and solicitors they were using for the property's on site gledhills and switalskis solicitors to arrange our mortgage and part exchange paper work for approval which went smoothly and once contracts were exchanged we just sat back and waited for our house to be ready to move in and could stay in our other house while moving day .we have moved in to our fantastic house now absolutely beautiful and also had a visit from Matt the site manager and Beth in the sales office to reassure that any problems they are there to help which does put your mind at ease.part exchange from start to finish has been brilliant thanks to everyone involved in our brand new home move to pocklington!!

I am writing this review as a final attempt to have a serious issue resolved before initiating formal legal and regulatory proceedings. I purchased a home from David Wilson Homes (DWH) two years ago, and the property was sold with a garden that is not only in breach of NHBC standards but is also a significant safety hazard.
The core issues are as follows:
* **Non-Compliant Topsoil**: NHBC guidelines mandate a minimum of 4 inches (100mm) of topsoil. My garden has a fraction of this. This is a clear failure to meet the standards your company is bound by.
* **Hazardous Materials**: The ground is contaminated with construction debris, including sharp objects like nails and broken glass. This has already resulted in injury and makes the garden entirely unsafe and unusable, particularly for a family.
* **Failure to Remediate**: Despite numerous communications and site visits where your own team acknowledged these failings, no corrective action has been taken. The promises of resolution have proven to be empty.
This situation constitutes a breach of the **Consumer Rights Act 2015**, as the garden is not of "satisfactory quality" or "fit for purpose." Furthermore, the presence of hazardous materials is a breach of your duty of care.
Let me be clear: this is not a minor cosmetic issue. It is a fundamental failure to provide what was paid for and a shocking disregard for customer safety. I have been a patient and loyal customer, but my patience has run out.
If DWH does not provide a written commitment and a firm date for the complete replacement of the garden soil to NHBC standards within the next 14 days, I will be escalating this matter. This will include a formal grievance filed with the NHBC and seeking legal counsel to pursue damages for breach of contract and for the costs of private remediation.
I expect a public response and a direct contact to resolve this immediately. Future buyers should be aware of this risk.
Today is 15th October and still I am waiting for DWH to start the remedial work. Imagine the wait time and the frustration the customer has to undergo.

My husband and I have settled very well, after 8 weeks into our New David wilson home at Sundial place phase 2,Thornton, this is down to the professionalism of Stephen James, Assistant site manager, Any concerns, snags etc have been dealt with immediately and scheduled around our schedules, nothing is too much of a problem for Stephen to sort which gives you full reassurance that you can contact him anytime and not feel like your receiving lip service. You can always find him upbeat around our estate, on the other end of a call / message to which he will respond quickly. A real Gem for all new homeowners.

From first visiting the property on the 21st of June to moving in on the 28th of August, the entire journey with David Wilson has been nothing short of incredible. The team provided exceptional support throughout – from arranging ongoing visits to offering constant guidance and customer service – ensuring the whole process was smooth and stress-free.
We also hired a professional snagger for peace of mind, and even they felt compelled to post publicly about just how outstanding the build quality was at David Wilson, particularly on the Lapwings estate. That level of independent praise speaks volumes.
A truly first-class experience from start to finish – we couldn’t be happier with our new home!

From Jess and Gail on site to Beverley who somehow managed to get more information on what was happening with our sale as well as out purchase than the estate agents or solicitors , we felt very well supported.
Our second David Wilson home - thank you.

David Wilson homes are very competitively priced, build greener homes as standard, have attractive fixtures and fittings and offer generous incentives. The site has walkways, green spaces and added planting which once matured will help to make the site feel more rural.
The sales staff are helpful and realistic about what customers actually want.

So far our reservation has gone smoothly. We went to view with an intention to look at the show homes. After chatting to Sian and allowing us to go and think it through - one week later we are reserving our first new build home and are very excited. Looking forward to moving on with the sale. Thank you Sian at Whitchurch 👍🏻

We have just reserved a property at Ashlawn Gardens with David Wilson Homes and the whole experience has been brilliant from the start.
Our first contact was with Jade, who was so friendly, approachable and made everything really easy to understand. She took the time to explain everything clearly and answered all of our questions without any rush, which gave us real confidence in taking the next step.
We then dealt with Leanne Poole, who has also been amazing and made the whole reservation process feel smooth and stress-free.
Both Jade and Leanne have been fantastic – professional, supportive and genuinely lovely to deal with.
Would definitely recommend David Wilson Homes at Ashlawn Gardens, especially if you get the chance to work with Jade and Leanne!

I've lived here 8 years. I've reported drainage issues since lockdown. They're still not resolved. David Wilson Homes tried to wash their hands of this. They're still faulty from your build. You palmed me off to NHBC.
Thus I now wish to escalate to an official complaint. NHBC just keep opening new claims which command £1500 excess costs. Costs due to David Wilsons ineptitude with the build. A build I was told had "extra checks" due to being initially shared ownership. This house is an absolute shambles. I've had the pleasure of smelling raw sewage for the best part of half a decade. A house that was NEVER fit for purpose. Still isn't. I don't want to publicise this online but I am at my absolutely wits end living here. I detest this faulty, vile, poorly built house and I now must demand repair before I take it further.
The excess doesn't even remotely cover the costs to destroy my garden- a garden I had to pay out for because your builders placed bottles of urine and breeze blocks into the ground of so no grass could grow (you know this happened as neighbours reported the same and had a heart attack over). Do you want the breakdown of my mental health/worse on your hands? As someone with ADHD, this is not longer livable and I cannot cope.
Would you like to live in a house that you couldn't use your toilet? That stank of raw sewage 24/7?
This needs sorting. Now. No new claims. No excess as it is NOT a new problem.
From the moment we walked into the sales office, the experience was exceptional. Kate, our Sales Advisor, truly listened to what we wanted in a home and found us the perfect plot with warmth and professionalism. The choice of finishes was brilliant, and the site team, especially Ashley, Craig, and George were nothing short of amazing. The quality of our new home is outstanding, and any small issues were resolved quickly and to the highest standard. The whole process was seamless, and we couldn’t be happier. We’re thrilled to be living in our dream home!
