If I could rate a "0" I would! Direct TV had a door to door guy trying to sign up people for their service, the man who stopped at my house LIED saying he's from charter and had to check our cable boxes for whatever reason then pushes his way inside my house then stating he's actually from Direct TV, pulled out his little sheets describing the packages. Absolutely fuming how he LIED and PUSHED his way into my house...with my 2 small children!! Completely disgusted with this man AND Direct TV!!!

I needed the dish moved because I was having a new roof installed. The technician was one time and did an excellent a professional job I would recommend this gentleman to anyone I would also like to say that I am very very satisfied with the service of DirecTV.
cancellation issues
I have been a loyal customer of DTV for over 20 years, back when they were "Primestar" as always all other cable companies try to match or upgrade to move to their service, I did not go anywhere I was so pleased and when my health took a turn for the worse and I had financial issues that prevented me from keeping the service they charged me over 200.00 cancellation fee. where is the compassion and ability to work with someone had to cancel in order to put food on the table. I am so upset and again cancellation was due to health not just because I didn't want it. please be careful and don't upgrade any boxes if you don't have to. now they say no one can do anything and I have to write a letter to the main office, by the time someone reads my concern I could be dead...
Direct star lied to me and took my money
I called in just shopping around for internet only. They claimed to have found an amazing internet/tv combo that was as as cheap as buying internet alone. If the deal had went through it would have been.
After 2 credit checks , 2 charges to my debit card I thought I was done after almost 2 hours on the phone. I got transferred to a different person to verify my appointment for the internet installation. She then claimed the order didn't go all the way through and needed another credit check. I asked to be transferred back to the original person , and she sent out me in hold then after 45 mins someone answered and claimed that they had no information about any of my purchases and that I couldn't be found. Now I have tv and the internet company says the internet sold to me isn't available at my house.
Very upset, called in 2 days in a row and nobody has any info on my orders or any record of me even calling in.
Direct TV Sales Practices
Some Direct TV Salespeople practices are deceptive. I had Direct TV for 4.5 years and was told during my last renewal that if I moved, and if I moved to a place where I could not get Direct TV there would be no cancellation charges. Obviously the salesperson who got me to renew made these false claims just to get me to renew, because my wife has been on the phone with them for the past hour and fifty-two minutes trying to resolve this issue. I guess the salesperson got their bonus for our renewal. Hope the deception was worth. I would like Direct TV to go back and listen to the recording of when my order was taken, I am certain they probably maintain these recordings. If you are making a decision for Direct TV please go and read their customer agreements, when you see the potential liability you may reconsider the decision to go with Direct TV. A very unhappy customer after 4.5 years.

Direct TV should not allow Direct Star to manage their customers
When on the phone I asked three times if I could call back after speaking with my fiancé regarding the options being provided. The representative continued to tell me that if i did so i would not be guaranteed the great deal. I should have known from that moment to just hang up and continue shopping. They did not disclose that they were a third party vendor. Once they came to set up (the guy was very nice) but there was an issue with the set up of my house. I attempted to call direct star.. and there were no working phone numbers. Direct TV did everything they could to help but it was very difficult for them to help because "i did not place my order through them." I have considered contacting a lawyer or the media because what Direct Star is doing is totally unacceptable. I am awaiting my first bill to see all the charges and such- if it is not as promised i will reconsider contacting the media.
Customer Service? Genie DVR?
I find it very disappointing that you need to be transferred to a different department and spend another 10 min on hold each time, I just had the pleasure of spending over an hour on the phone due to a know issue that they are having.
After the 3rd transfer and them wanting to transfer me a 4th time I was done. Sure this company will offer you discounts and deals to get you to sign up, but once your in they don't care about you and yes the phone support gets longer unless your buying more things from them.
Lastly the Genie their best DVR and highest device is back in the stone age, the searching and On Demand are terrible. It takes twice as long to go threw to get to anything you want to, and the best of all it will skip your show recordings and when you spend an hour to find out anything all they have to say is its a know issue and they are working on it.
Start caring about retention of your customers Direct TV your service product and prices are out of date and extraordinary high. Don't expect me to be sticking around after being given the circle treatment.
Installation of Direct TV
The technician arrived as scheduled. He saw where the new Direct TV boxes were to go. He did his work, did not make a mess and showed me how to use the remote when he was done. He was polite, efficient and knowledgeable about installing the boxes.
Horrible and dishonest service
At first, everything was great. Overpriced, yes, but it was our best option for what we wanted. We signed a 12 month contract linked with century link for Internet. Our first bill was correct. The next 3/4 bills after were highly incorrect. Directv added services we never asked for or approved for them to do. In fact we specifically said no for those services. Each time we called, direct tv could not give us any type of answer as to why our bill was incorrect, but consistently blamed century link. Which seems impossible since I don't see how century link could go into direct tv's system and add TV servises onto our bill...after about 3 months our bill was finally fixed. Now we are moving, our 12 month contact ends in October. Our only options are to pay $280 to terminate our contract or sign up for another year in order to transfer to our new house. Seems a bit ridiculous, since the package we have is not worth the price. I can't even tell you the last time I turned the tv on to watch cable. Well, we decide to terminate our contract...except all of sudden we now a have a 24 month contract. NO. We did NOT sign a 2 year contract. We signed a 1 year contract. But somehow there's "no record of any 1 year contract" and apparently we didn't even sign our contract with direct tv but an outside retailer...how is that possible? Seems as though they are just trying their best to screw us over since that is literally all that has happened since signing up with direct tv. Apsolutely no issues with century link but somehow it's always century links fault according to direct tv. Wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. And customer service...the only seemingly "nice" or "professional" person we have spoken with is the person who signed us up for our 1 year contract (that is now somehow a 2 year contract, which I guess turns out she was dishonest also). Since then every person we have spoken with has been rude, dishonest, or has no explanation as to why our account or bill is incorrect. Our next step is to find a lawyer and do our best to get this straitened out...but it's difficult and stressful dealing with dishonest people.
Untruthful sales tactic
I almost bought DirectTV through directStar. Fortunately when I received my contract I found out that the sales person was not truthful. One way to stem this abuse is to talk to a lawyer about a class action suit. Lawyers love class action suits, especially against abusive sales persons reprenting companies that do not properly manage them while in the course and scope of employment which brings benefit to the company. The conversations that you had with the sales persons are recorded and a court can subpoena the company to give any all interaction with the customer to the lawyer bringing the class action suit. Customers are owed a duty to be given truthful information when entering into contracts (in contract terms it is called a meeting of the minds). Any court can see through the abuse against the customers when sales pitches given by the employees are meant to deceive the client. Don't despair, just get a lawyer and you will see immediate action. I am certain that the public wants to see how Direct TV misleads their customers and so would the competition. Can you spell L-A-W-Y-E-R? If you were ripped off go see a lawyer, if your lawyer wins he will not charge anything in most instances. Don't be fooled by the other reviews rating directTV as an honorable enterprise when in reality your experience, if like mine, was one of the most untruthful preliminary negotiations that you ever encountered.

horrible experience so far
The whole experience thus far has been terrible. Trying to make this story short for you, during the initial set up of my dish, the tech placed in right in front of a window completely blocking it. When I saw him doing this I went out and asked if he could move it 4 ft to one side he said it was too late because he had poured the concrete. I called after and asked a tech to come out and move it, so I wait the 4 hours on the scheduled day for the tech, and when he showed up he said he couldn't move it because they booked my apt wrong. So I had to make a third appointment waiting another 4 hours for a tech to come and move it. took 15 minutes once he got there, after already wasting 12 hours of my time. Secondly, I am in the military and only had 2 tvs when doing the initial set up. You are allowed 4 receivers free with the initial set up, but you have to have 4 tvs. I explained I was doing a military move and didn't have my other tvs and they said it wouldn't be a problem to get the other 2 later on. My furniture just arrived and I called and they are telling me no one made a note of it and want to charge $100 plus $50 service charge for EACH receiver. My original installation was only a month ago. If this is how a company treats it's customers. does not hold up on what they promised (which is why I signed on with them to begin with) and is not understanding in any way, I want to have no part of.
I would give this company zero stars for customer service
This company has taken away our local ABC station in Iowa City because they cannot come up with an agreement with KCRG. We pay for the station but they do not give it to us. They have done this off and on with local channels forever. So be forewarned if you want your local channels you may not get them and they will not care or resolve it. When you call they say there is nothing they can do. Plus they will not let you out of your 2 year contract even though they are not giving you what you agreed to. Good luck.

The technician went over each step of the way. He helped me make the best decision of locating the best place to ankor the dish. He routed the cable just I asked, and programmed my new remote control to operate not only my dish, but in fact all my stereo components. TV. VCR. DVD. STEREO.
He showed me how to operate the controller in detail. How to watch or order movies on demand!
He made the experience, and I recomended it to a friend. You just installed it a few days ago there.
