Ryoko paperweight
Bought an unlimited plan which ran out after 4 days of moderate use leaving me with a paperweight for 3 and a half weeks. Agents at call centre (webchat) (and I'm sure it isn't their fault, they are just being told what to say) lie to you and fob you off constantly. There is no provision to speak to a manager or have them call you or even a complaints service if you have any problems. The device itself is great and does what it says on the tin, and if I had read all of the t's and c's I would've still got it as I don't use the Internet extensively and wouldn't have imagined I'd fall under their fair use policy for streaming 5 episodes of a TV show and downloading a 4gb xbox game. DO NOT take out an unlimited plan, as it is just so you pay more as they do a 10gb option for 4x less and you get the same amount of data presumably.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service, you can't cancel easily. They try to push for pausing which will auto start payments.
Unfortunately they don't allow less…
Unfortunately they don't allow less than a 1 star review...HORRIBLE situation...DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR CRAP!!! Satisfaction guaranteed my fanny. You can only know if you are satisfied with this product IF YOU TRY IT & if you open the package to do so you CANNOT return and get your money back!!! AND...even though everything states "UNLIMITED" and they charge you 6 months in advance the SIM card only allows for so much SO...if you you leave your TV on while you are away and the SIM card runs out they charge you $35.99 WITHOUT your permission to add so many GBs of data for another 7 days which if THEY are used up before you get back from running THEN they ask if you want to add more. AND...you can get NO credit back for the 6 months you paid in advance if you no longer want to use their "service". Oh...AND my debit card was hacked after purchase so BUYER BEWARE!!!
They are cheating! Don’t buy!
They are cheating! Don’t buy from them! On their website it says unlimited data. However, after only 1 day use, it stopped working! They ask you to upgrade and pay more money. They are just scamming! Paid more than £100 and only can use 1 day! Ridiculous!
Auto renewed without authorization as far as I new. After inquiry they said they couldn't deactivate. Totally untrue. Rep-off. Lesson cost me $146.
Auto renewal without authorization. They said they couldn't deactivate the simm card and give me a refund. Sorry but if they can add to the card, they can deactivate it. This company is a rip off.
It didn't work in the places they said…
It didn't work in the places they said it would - NZ and Aus. After wasting time trying to make it work, I threw the device away and got a local SIM card. I hadn't realized I could add a second (data) SIM to my phone, so that's what I do now when I travel. And I discovered months later that they were billing me monthly for more data I didn't need or use. Overall, an expensive and bad experience.
BEWARE - Shockingly bad service
I needed a mobile WiFi to cover loss of my local broadband service. My 3 mobile broadband is OK most of the time, but I wanted a PAYG package for work which could access other networks. The Ryoko package looked perfect...
It took 12 days to receive the Viaota SIM, but the month-long subscription was started from the date it was ordered. I asked that it was altered so I got the full 1 month. I sent the receipt, told that they would "review it".
Secondly, it *automatically debits* when the subscription is due which is not made clear. One can "pause" this renewal in advance, which I asked for.
Unfortunately, the service was paused immediately for 1 month. When I got back to them, I was told that "could not be reversed".
Told them I was cancelling, sent a template back.
Told them again I am cancelling, not responded as I write this.
I don't know if this is a scam or AI or poor comprehension, but I strongly advise against.
I received my Ryoko on Oct 9th
I received my Ryoko on Oct 9th, it stopped working 2 days later, called customer service to be told I capped out, how is that possible if I paid 6 months unlimited. Not impressed at all
Awful
Got a sim card with unlimited data for 6 months.
Omg so bad. No internet service to start then the Ryoko router said 26 days of data (don't buy Ryoko either)
Couldn't access UK websites because the SIM card showed I was in Germany (I wasn't) DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. If I don't get a refund from PayPal good luck
This is who provides Ryoko's Data... DON'T DO IT
This is who provides Ryoko's Data Plans. DON'T DO IT, get a pay as you go cell phone and hotspot it. Trust me it'll be cheaper with far more data.
Ryoko WiFi.
I purchased this super dooper wifi that said it did everything and with 6 months unlimited data. It is a complete scam. The data shut down after 3 days and i was told i had exceeded my data limit. Then no signal at all. It took me weeks of e mails and phone calls to get my money back. Only when threatened with the FOS did they refund me. Do not get sucked into this it is purely a Scam.
Don't waste your money on false advertising.
I bought 6 months of unlimited and after just a few days, it's shut completely off. I am told by customer service that I've exceeded the data allowed, but I'm not streaming movies, reels, video games, anything other than browsing news, checking email, and social media. When I have asked them how much data I'm actually getting for my "unlimited" days, they cannot give me an answer. This product is a scam and uses fraudulent marketing.
Unlimited data means very limited
I bought the package with unlimited data.
I got warnings telling me I'd used 50pct of my data after 4 days. Just browsing on my phone. No streaming.
7 days it has ' run out' because I've used too much data. Just browsing! Less than i use on my standard phone plan of 15gb.
But they can activate my second month allowance meaning my 6 month subscription would last about 6 weeks.
Meant be be getting a refund but we will see.
Shame Viaota, Shame
Hi
My Viaota subscription auto renewal applied even though I was given an extra 7 days. I went to Europe for 6 weeks and it dropped out for approximately 4days. I rang and problem was fixed 30 mins latter. I was told they had a world wide crash and apologised for the inconvenience, the customer service offered me an extra 7 days to compensate. On returning back to Australia on the 17th August I rang to cancel as it was supposed to renew on the 17th. Believing I had a further 7 days meant nothing. They took $135usd out of my account. I have not used or accessed the new month as their records would show. I have sent 4 emails all with the same response, enjoy the month service. Shame on you Viaota from stealing money from your customers Shame.
Company is a scam for your $
I purchased the unlimited plan , what they do not tell you is that it is limited to 10 to 15 g then they turn it off until your next billing cycle. The 100 % customer satisfaction for 60 days is only good if you do not use the unit or open the package. This company's customer service is the worst do not walk away RUN !
Updated was able to talk to a rep today ask " how much data is in the unlimited plan ? She said after asking 6 times she did not nor does her supervisor, it all depends on areas average usage. How do I find our what the average usage is.
Answer, you can't . (it must be a top secret). I'm so done with this company .
This company does not stand by their…
This company does not stand by their unlimited package. It's a farce. Their definition of unlimited is we'll shut you off after two or three days because you're using too much data and violating our "fair use" policy. Any dictionary defines unlimited as no limits/unrestricted access. I really think they need a class action lawsuit brought against them for selling a product they have no intention of supporting.
Unlimited plan is NOT unlimited :(
The unlimited plan is costly and NOT unlimited really. It's capped at 15 GB then they slow it to 3G which doesn't work. Have to top it up extra cost as we need it.
Would not recommend!
This outfit seems to be dishonest
This outfit seems to be dishonest. The Ryoko product appears credible but does not in fact connect to a network. Customer service is non-existent, the telephone is not answered, and "Elizabeth" in Customer Service says one thing and then changes her position. I STRONGLY recommend that you do not buy.
Works but very costly with unlimited really meaning about 15 GB
We use it to travel all over Europe. It works most of the time. However, the unlimited plan is costly and not unlimited really. It's capped at 15 GB then they slow it to 3G which doesn't work. Have to top it up extra cost as we need it. So at the moment stick with it, but next time we travel we look at other options.
I would choose no stars for a review…
I would choose no stars for a review but it will not let me do that.
I ordered the Ryoko in the middle of July and received it in mid August. I turned on the device and it connected to the internet just fine so I turned it off and charged it. I turned it on the next day to test and it would not connect, put the device next to a window and still nothing; waited 45 minutes but it never connected. I opened a ticket and received a reply which they had me check the network settings and these were correct per their instructions.
Left the unit next to the window once again and waited for an hour but still would not connect.
I wrote to support once again asking for a refund but they want pictures of the settings and they want me try some other things but it seems that this will be an ongoing issue. So, at this point, I don't care about diagnosing the issues with the device; I just want my money back and they are giving me the run-around.
Update: I've exchanged several emails with support and they keep telling me, "follow the return policy" which requires an RMA for to fill out but they have not sent me the form. I've asked for it twice and nothing!
One of the emails I received and the person sending it was Linda:
Hi Hervey,
Thank you for your prompt response regarding your inquiry about the RMA form.
I apologize for any confusion regarding the return process. As stated in our policy, we are unable to accept used and opened devices. However, I would be more than happy to assist you with troubleshooting the issue you are experiencing.
and another email I received from Elizabeth:
I understand that you no longer wish to receive the package. I wanted to confirm that I have requested a refund for the order. Please be informed that all refund requests are subject to approval, but I want to assure you that I will personally oversee the process and provide you with an update regardless of the outcome.
but no RMA form :(
Finally,
I was not given an RMA form and Viaota informed me that they did not want the unit back and they refunded the money
