Greenhouse glass replacements

Needed some new "glass" for the greenhouse after last winters storms destroyed much of it.

Decided to go with Plastic as its (hopefully) less likely to smash and safer (especially as we have a young child)

Plastics direct were well priced and delivered quickly, everything fitted perfectly.

Great service from start to finish.

Found a good Fridge-Freezer (Which best buy) with a handy £200 discount at Appliance city.

Phoned to check the specs and ensure door reversible and the call was answered right away by a knowledgeable member of staff - quite rare these days!

Paid the extra to unpcking / packaging removal and the delivery guys were brilliant.

Booking / paying contacting is an abysmal experience

I have to use an Apcoa car park twice a week to get a train to London, nothing wrong with the car park, but the booking system / pay machine are awful.

I often need to book the day before and often it will say the car park is "not available", at first I was worried I would get there and find it closed, but no, its open, and the one I use (Didcot) is typically no more than 50% full, if that, I have never had to even go up above ground floor to find an under cover space, and the outside area is always 90% empty.

This means I have to then use the machines on site, which are appalingly slow to process your payment - not great when you have little time to get your train.

I once forgot to pay on the day and got a £100 fine, its only £7.20 for 24 hours so to get a fine 15 time the actualy parking cost is a joke, if you had only stayed an hour it would be 50 times the cost.

Their wonderful automated computer system that fined me must be able to tell I stay there 2* a week, and have been doing so for over 2 years, paying on time / in advance every other time on 100 occasions.

I once phoned the enquiry line to find out if it is safe to park overnight and they would offer no useful info, I was not after a cast iron gurantee, just an indication if they get many reports of theft / damage and how the car park is secured....

.... They refused to comment in car park safety, and there is no security - only cameras, so if your car gets trashed you can probably get a nice souvenir video of the hoodies trashing it

As it happens I have parked there overnight a few times and not had any issues.

Almost caught me out

Almost caught me out, started filling in info etc. no sign of disclaimer about it being a 3rd party site.

Noticed before payment does not even give an amount to pay - looking here I can see it was gonna be almost 5X what you should pay!

Google should not allow these pages to be promoted to top of the results way above the genuine ESTA site. I guess they get away with it because its a RIP-OFF rather than a SCAM.

And what do they do with all this passport and personal data they gather???

Avoid at all costs!

With 3 Motorcycles and 2 cars...

With 3 Motorcycles and 2 cars in the household this saves a lot of money....


.... and is hopefully better than the insurers own legal protection - which on the one occasion we needed it wanted to go knock-for-knock after being rammed from behind by a drunken driver - who was also prosecuted for "driving without due care" by Police for accident - apparently it was still not possible for our insurers legal team to establish fault at this point!

We ended up having to get a private solicitor involved to recoup costs and ensure we maintained NCB etc.

I have (thankfully) not needed to test the Driver Guardian policy, but they at least do not have a direct conflict of interest and hopefully would give much better service - and even if they don't with up to £30 per vehicle this at least saves us @£100 per year.

A real pleasure to be able to sit down…

A real pleasure to be able to sit down and talk to a real person who can understand your requirments and ensure you get the right policy.
Costs were not far off online prices, and worth the extra to have a local point of contact I can walk into an office and talk to as opposed to talking to someone half way across the planet.

No idea of odds or if I would want some of the houses

Won a £30 giftcard - so knocked a start off as I wanted the house!

Hard to establish the odds of winning and the ticket purchasing offers change a lot, also they seem to like houses that look about to fall in the sea.

But if we like the look of a house we tend to buy some tickets.

Great customer service

I was unsure of what product was best for me and upon sending an email I got a call back the same day.

I have both the "Move" and "Ultimate" base layers, I find the ultimate a little itchy - but I am very sensitive and cannot wear Merino wool so most folk probably will be fine - the Ultimate socks don't bother me at all (and work very well)

The Move base layer seems really good, very comfy and very warm - been used a lot in the recent cold spell.

Review of Bupa UK Insurance

dissapointing

My employer provides the "highest" level of BUPA cover which sounded good.

However in the first instance you have to go to your GP and get a referal, when I did this I was then told I had to do another online GP call with a BUPA doctor - which seemed like a waste of time for me and my GP.

Each time you phone BUPA you have to go through a long menu, put in you membership number and other details and after all that expect at least 30 minutes on hold....

Which I had to do as the BUPA referal letter / email did not have the Authorisation code - I checked my account online and it was not there - which would make life far easier.

My understanding is if I need an operation I would wait a year on the NHS and BUPA may be able to do it faster if they approve it.

Another thing that surprised me is they could not recomend a specialist for my issue, they just send a list of approved doctors with some info and you can research them and choose one yourself, was hoping they might say Mr A and Mr B are excellent in this field.

BUPA offer online GP appoinments as well (video calls) but I think post COVID most GP suregeries do this now - mine does, and I can normally get a face-to-face appointment within 2 working days, and often an online chat is not enough to check things out, especially physical conditions.

Although it is paid for by my employer I pay 40% tax on the benefit value and may not renew next year as I am not sure it offers great value.

Good product, good price and great aftersales support.

I initially bought the door after seeing one a friend had fitted.

The guys who installed it did a great job of installing the new door and removing the old one and all the mess.

Fast forward @6 years and the motor failed, Rollerdor talked me through troubleshooting to be 100% certain it was not something I could fix myself and offered the part or fitting service.

The price was reasonable and I got them to come out and replace the motor, they turned up a bit early and did the work in no time, leaving no mess and made sure it was functioning perfectly before leaving.

My main fear with these things is after sales service and spares / repair backup and Rollerdor have been excellent in this area.

Highly recommended.

Going downhill

Used to be very good, but going downhill rapidly.

Website not clear, renewals online difficult to understand, this year they took my money then emailed to say not covered as I had not accepted terms - so why did it let me proceed and take my money.

I get the feeling they rely on too much automation rather than employing helpful and knowledgeable staff like they used to.

Goods never arrived, refund never given

I ordered some items on the 6th August that should of arrived within a few days, as they had not arrived by the 3rd of September I contacted them.

I was told there was a delay in them receiving the stock and they would be with me the following week - but they never turned up.

They have stopped responding to me emails requesting a refund and I am forced to try and get my money back via my credit card.

I wished I had checked their rating here before ordering, but found them via a search for a product I wanted.

Live and learn!

Terrible customer service

Bennetts came up with a good quote online so I paid for a policy.

Over a week later I have not received any documents and they are not in the online portal despite me receiving confirmation I have paid and the insurance is supposedly setup.

Obviously when Phoning my call is "very important", but not important enough for them to answer it in under 30 minutes!
