Selling My Car on Motorway – Better Than Expected!

I wasn’t too sure about using Motorway at first, but it turned out to be well worth it! I originally planned to sell my car privately, but it quickly started to feel like a lot of hassle, so I began looking at online quotes instead. Most came back between £10 and £2,300 which was massively undervalued. In the end, I sold through Motorway for £3,100, which felt like a fair dealer price. Sure, I could have got a bit more by selling privately, but for the convenience and speed, it was the right choice for me.

Great in the end!

After some issues with the car that I purchased from this dealership, we resolved most parts and I've been able to get the Motor ombudsmen to help with so additional complaints to Renault themselves (not the dealership).

Jack was great and I'm sure I annoyed the hell out of him but he continued to help with the ongoing issues. He even got a replacement air con unit after that got ruined without charge. One thing to bear in mind is that if you need a new part for a Renault, it does come from France you the wait is a bit long.

Pre-sales and sales are great! After sales could do with some work but in the end it was all good.

Awful! - No real support when things go wrong

UPDATE 5/08/2025:

Do not use Carmoola if you want any after sales support! I really mean it.

In addition to the below, I went to pay off my loan using a different card. The app stopped working. When I went back into the app all of my data was gone, no history or anything. I checked my account and they had taken the full amount from my card. In addition I called Carmoola obviously frustrated as they've just taken £6,900 cash from my account without ANY acknowledgment and I ended up with a rude, patronising sales rep. Seriously do not use them!

I now have 2 pending cases against this company!

Original issue:
I bought a used Renault Zoe through Carmoola in April 2023 and everything seemed fine until the traction motor failed just over 2 years later. I had driven less than 5,000 miles since purchase, with full dealer servicing and MOTs, and the car had only just been serviced when the issue occurred.

Despite having evidence from Renault and the RAC showing a serious insulation fault that made the car undriveable, Carmoola refused to help. They repeatedly quoted the 6-month Consumer Rights rule and insisted I prove the fault was there at the time of purchase which, for complex electrical components in EVs, is nearly impossible without expensive inspections that most consumers can’t afford.

What really disappointed me wasn’t just the refusal to support me it was the tone. Their response was patronising and dismissive, ignoring the fact I’m now left paying off finance on a car that’s been undriveable and in a garage for weeks. Zero effort to act fairly or investigate deeper.

Their customer service is fine when things are going smoothly, but the moment something goes wrong, you're on your own. I’ve now escalated to the Financial Ombudsman and would strongly urge anyone using Carmoola to be cautious. If your car breaks, don’t expect any help.

This is a scam website

This is a scam website! I'm annoyed that I fell for it but it seems legit at the time. I wish check Trustpilot as I would usually do! They are selling totally fake items and advertising on Instagram - took over a month to get an actual Temu item in the end but should have been a top end item. I'm now in the process of getting my money back with legal teams!

So the card holder is great…

Update: after reviewing on here they did email me to say they’d sort it out and have since sent me a new card holder.


So the card holder is great until it breaks…

Firstly, they eventually collected the wallet to fix it. I received the item back as if the box was never opened, only to find the crunching sound was even worse!

The first person said I didn't have enough cards in it (I had 3 cards in it) and the next email is saying I have too many cards in it. So that would mean you can only use it if you have exactly 4 cards in it and no more or no less!!! GREAT!

They say they have a Two-year guarantee and now won't help fix it. It's really shocking. If you're going to offer Two-year guarantee then stay true to it as it's all over the website!

I just want everyone to know what the filler we use is biodegradable. It's a bit like wotsit (although you mustn't eat it!). Put them in your compost and they'll just disappear. if you want to see how they work (although it is messy) put one in water and you'll see.

We've been doing this for nearly 20 years and I'm really proud that from our first to our latest order we have only ever used this filler.

A horrendous experience!

Seriously be careful when selling on this site. They use specific couriers that buyers can choose one of those is InPost. Inpost lost my parcel and asked me to let Vinted know. I emailed Vinted several times and when I finally got a reply they said they need to investigate while InPost were telling me they have already investigated and were waiting on Vinted. Basically a buyer has my item for free and Vinted basically said that they didn’t want to help…seriously should be illegal so now I’m having to take them to the financial ombudsman etc. really really poor! Total disregard for their customers.

Yet another money grabbing company

Yet another money grabbing company. I wish I looked on here to see reviews before buying. These are not cheap devices and you can actually buy the exact same item on TEMU! I had mine for a while but didn’t use it too much. It stopped working. I emailed customer service and they couldn’t care less. Very patronising! Please leave well alone! Do not purchase and if you are, go on TEMU!

I saw this advertised on Instagram and thought I'd give it a go. I have many cards and really wanted to consolidate them into one payment rather than the several that I have. I can't fault the person who I spoke as he was really nice, but the way the company works and the questions they ask get personal. They soft search your credit history and have all of the information in front of them but then go in to detail about the why and what's for each card, at which point it makes you feel like you've hidden something from them. I was honest from the onset with what I had and how much I owe etc. but they then start to interrogate each card on your credit file and it just feels weird when they have the facts in front of them from the soft search. I get they need to confirm how much is on each card but I think maybe less on the whys, you are where you are so I really didn't get the point. I said to the guy, will I get a loan or not, or shall I just chip away at paying the cards back one by one and he said to do the latter which I would prefer after that call! It really wasn't a great experience and there must be a better way to "help" people. Again, the guy was fine, I just think the last thing you need when you're trying to get help is to be interrogated by the very people you've gone to ask for help. The only reason why I could think they do that is to offer a debt relief order or a debt plan which is why I stopped the conversation and ask outright if I could get a loan to help or not.

I have never come across such a con and…

Update: I sent Whoop, their CEO and tweeted them over 20 times with not 1 response. I asked my friend with a large following on instagram to see if they would do message him back. What do you know, they replied to him. Utterly disgusting behaviour. Steer clear of this company! Just read all the other reviews.

I have never come across such a con and I can’t believe that I fell for it! I did the free trial, chased for the returns label as the watch is awful, tracked it back and they have it and now they’ve just taken over £200 from my account. I’m shocked it’s utterly discussing and just before Christmas and I’m having to fight to get money back from something I sent back and never subscribed to!

Please don’t fall for this! It’s a marketing scam! Honestly it really is!

Really positive journey!!

Really positive journey! This is great for people will low credit scores. Amazing customer service and so so simple to use! The dealership hadn’t heard of it before but said they will now tell their customers about it as it was so fast to receive payment vs other credit methods.

I would say just keep up the customer service!!! As soon as you get bigger I could see that would slip if you don’t keep up.

Awful Customer Service

Awful! I sent an old phone for £12 (and so this review is NOT about the money) and they said that it was sent to them a month later than it was. I literally have the tracking information that shows when I sent the item to them on the 13th Feb 2023 and they are saying it says March - it's in black and white I can't explain how deluded the conversation has been. They are telling me that the black and white information on the tracking is not what it says it is. Literally calling the sky black. I've NEVER had such incompetent messages sent. I would NEVER use them again after years of having them as a go to company to recycle my old items. In addition they are asking for a proof of that I sent the item when I did - that is what the tracking number is for!!!! Shocking! Never again. Keep the phone, I couldn't care less about it.

So I had an appointment...

So I had an appointment (today 13/01/22) and was running late by 5-10mins. I called the Golf Course where Bluecrest are based with no one available. I then called the Bluecrest helpline who told me if I wasn't 10mins early then I wouldn't be allowed to have my check-up done. Firstly I waited 3months for this and could have gone to Nuffield. Secondly, I booked a cab to get here and am now out of pocket and Thirdly how dare you offer private healthcare and tell me that I am not allowed to be seen if I'm not early - you are not overwhelmed like the NHS and you 100% did not mention this at the time of booking. Utterly awful - I have asked for my money back ASAP!
