The best move I’ve made in years
The ease of signing up and getting started. The cost was also very affordable. But the big surprise was the amazing therapist I chose. I’m nearly 70 years old and thanks to BetterHelp and my therapist, Elizabeth, I’m still learning about myself and growing and loving life more every day.
STOLE MY MONEY
STOLE MY MONEY - STAY CLEAR. Scam company steals your money. Stole over £1000. Their cancellation scheme makes it difficult to cancel subscription. I thought I had cancelled my subscription only to later find they were stealing one year's payment out of my card, even when I hadn't used the service. They refused to make a full refund despite providing all evidence that I haven't used the service.

They prey off of vulnerable people! Stay away and don't get scammed. Dealing with this company is bad for your mental health.
Exploitative, unethical, and useless
Exploitative and useless.
I signed up with Better Help due to the convincing marketing and I was abroad, it seemed like a good option. The claim of being matched with a therapist for my specific issue was something I really believed and expected. I filled out a very lengthy questionnaire that outlined that I was looking for trauma based counselling.
Instead of acting ethically and telling me they didn’t have any matching therapists, I was matched with a list of ‘Marriage and Family’ specialists. None were qualified to deal with my issue, but due to having already paid, I was left with no options but to accept one.
She was awful. Got my name wrong repeatedly despite being corrected multiple times, then got an attitude with me. She just sent poorly written generic responses that didn’t address my issues at all. I got frustrated with the very lengthy response time, and lack of engagement, and asked specifically for functional tools to deal with what I was struggling with. She refused and tried to drag things past the current subscription date. It was blatant and I got absolutely nothing helpful from her. It was just mindless texting back.
“Oh, that must be difficult. Stay positive.” And things like that. No questions, nothing to work on.
I could get more helpful engagement from ChatGPT than her. I tried another therapist and it was still from the list that didn’t correspond to what I had signed up for. While the option to go to another therapist is good, you have to start at the beginning, which wastes the time you paid for going over the same thing and potentially having to pay more only to not have anything helpful.
Customer services were terrible and didn’t care at all. Despite the woman getting my name wrong repeatedly and me sending them the chats. I cancelled and they confirmed, but still tried to take money from my account for months afterwards. They’d apologise and say nothing else would be taken, but it happened again. I had to contact my bank to dispute charges and they advised me to cancel my card.
They aggressively market and prey upon vulnerable people. The therapists, who as far as I can tell, are not paid very much considering their supposed qualifications, use this as a side hustle to make a little extra money while they’re at home/going about their daily business. The treatment they offered me, which is very common, as is evidenced by REAL reviews available all over the internet, was so low quality that it’s actually dangerous should someone really be struggling. I don’t know how they’re legally allowed to operate because this is wildly unethical.
I suspect many of these positive reviews are fake. Lots of people with glowing things to say and only one review left, all very close together.
Considering the floods of awful and very specifically similar bad reviews on independent platforms, it really makes you think.
Do NOT take the risk with these charlatans.
Amazing platform with …
Amazing platform with individual therapy, and a variety of group sessions and classes.
good therapists, good classes, needs more options outside of subscriptions
While my therapists and the group sessions were at par with a therapeutic session- the ethics behind a subscription model is a bit iffy. Most of people needing therapy are in a state of emotional turmoil and getting caught in another subscription model that just dips from your pocket isn't the greatest idea.
If they had options like an appointment once a month/bimonthly/ and or weekly or by appointment then it would make more sense. But then you also need to know that their therapists are going to show up/not have connection issues as well. And if you miss an appointment - they take the weekly fee AND 20$ extra on top of that. Hardly ethical there. I know therapists usually have a no-show fee but it is not above or beyond the fee already paid for the session. so paying extra isn't something I think a regulated company would participate in.
they did reach out when I complained about one therapist referring to people in the class as trolls and seemed to take it seriously although I'm unsure if the therapist ever got the feed back that that is hardly the way anyone should talk to anyone let alone being the leader in a therapeutic environment. so that was medium hopeful.
It also doesn't make sense if you are living in canada because your benefits will not cover this program. Possibly for some of the aforementioned iffiness around the ethics of the subscription model as well as not being regulated under Canadian colleges or associations. So you need to want to freely spend 85+tax a week = 340$ a month which after a year is 4800 a year.
So again, great therapists, great schedules, but needs more options for people not being able to afford weekly sessions. I was offered a reduced rate for my position but it was still weekly at 72 ish bucks a week. still locked into weekly.
also, I think it would behoove people to move away from subscription styles as the only option because for the most part people are starting to equate it with scam like existences and leaves people feeling uneasy about what they have been partaking in.
Better health made it easy and affordable!
Better health made it really easy for me to find my therapist and match me with somebody who would really help me overcome the things I needed to. And this is exactly what has happened at a very affordable price. I’m very grateful.
I would recommend Better Help to anyone seeking Therapy
I would recommend Better Help to anyone I feel needed assistance therapy of any type. Better Help has so many choices and options for different types of mental health care needs. I have attended group sessions for sex abuse and felt most comfortable. I have never been that way. I have held a bond and trust in my therapist Alana Pope since I begin therapy with Better Help. This is my longest lasting Client/Dr relationship. I am happy with her treatment. I don't want another therapist. I don't know if I would trust another therapist at this point in my life. I have had many therapists that seem like they were using my story for a book or something or just didn't really seem to actually care. I am always comfortable and able to be myself in the sessions I attend and that includes group sessions. Thank you, Better Help, for providing quality care for individuals like me.
Questioning the way you get involved
I did enjoy my therapist’s ability to listen and know who I was session to session. I didn’t enjoy the AI-generated questionnaire at the beginning. If healthcare is being a part of the AI world then I fear we are doomed. How can I MCQ my way through my issues? I wouldn’t be someone to be upset and just leave it at that, I think a solution could be a generalised questionnaire with someone human answer the phone. We know that what you can say in physical words outweighs what can be selected in a box massively. Maybe that sounds ludicrous, given the cost of things these days, like hiring someone with a background in mental health equipped for these phonecalls, it’s not easy by any means but changes other people’s worlds. Something like mental health,I don’t think it should accustom itself to a business model. That’s all I have for now

The screening process connected me to a wonderful therapist who relates and is vulnerable back to me.
Accessible affordable and easy to use
Accessible affordable and easy to use. The safety of my own home and the convenience of one click video chat eliminates the anxiety I had about going to therapy. I’m in my happy place at home. I couldn’t be happier with my therapist and the options I had in finding her.
Unfortunately the most inconvenient convenient app.
I would of liked to have given better help a good review, but unfortunately I can't recommend it due to its lack of consistency and reliability.
On my 4th session I experienced audio technical difficulties where audio from the video call and from the attempted phonecall did not work.
I have been in a chase to regain that lost week from credited weeks where after chasing an avaliable week 3 weeks after, which was cancelled on the day.
I would recommend meeting a therapist and not paying a monthly fee as any inconvenience will lead you in a constant chase to regain it.
I have asked for a partial refund multiple times and am still awaiting a resolution for this incident which happened 3 weeks ago.

We lost $370 using Better Help
We lost $370 using Better Help. My husband only had one therapy session and they continued to charge $72 two more times and then $224! We called and they have yet to reach out to us to solve the problem.

Modern and efficient way to access competent professionals... I recommend Better Help.com to all the people around me who I feel are in need of help with their daily struggles
Excellent therapist!
Really great therapist who has been working with me for most part of this year. I got through many things that had been holding me back and gained confidence in who I am.
Gave me my life back
My therapist gave me all the tools needed to take my life back without the need for medications. Better Help made connecting with my therapist very easy and that was one less thing i had to worry about.
Absolutely wonderful
Absolutely wonderful. I was matched with a therapist who understands my questions and knew how to allow me to analyze my stress and establish boundaries. My therapist and I were a great match for each other.
I like this app
Life changing experience with George Vega :)
George has fundamentally changed my life and over the course of the year of therapy, I’ve gone from having consistent conflicts in my relationship that were mainly attributed to my childhood trauma and insecurities to having the most loving relationship where I’ve learned so much about myself and how to let go of things that no longer serve me.
It’s been a transformational experience and I simply would not be in the place I’m in today without George’s help and support. He listened with empathy, challenges core belief systems and helps you be accountable along the way. My life is forever changed. Thank you so much George Vega!! :)
