Terrible customer service and no progress for over a month
I’ve been stuck in a pre-audit process with Irish Life for more than a month, and all my claims are on hold. Every time I contact customer service, they say they’ll investigate or reach out to my therapist, but nothing ever happens. It feels like they just keep delaying things without any real action. Extremely poor communication and follow-up — very disappointing experience overall.

A complete and utter disaster of a company. I have been a member of Irishlifehealth.ie for a number of years since they upgraded or in my opinion downgraded their website I can no longer access my policy or submit claims. For weeks I have been emailing them regarding this issue but all I get is an automated response. Webchat is of no help as they say that they only deal with login problems. Avoid this company at all cost.

Joined irish life health quite recently and needed assistance accessing online account. Was assisted on phone by Christine who was very patient with me, explained stuff in detail and assured me with queries I had re policy. Also, Conor and other's were very helpful. Hence a 5star review.
Login Issues
I have an Approved Retirement Fund (ARF) with Irish Life. It would appear that they have recently outsourced their IT service to Microsoft and the entire system has gone haywire. I have spent the last month trying to login to my account. I have spent hours on the phone and trying to deal with their chatbot and receiving conflicting emails telling me that the problem has been solved. It is the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
awful consumer service
awful consumer service. Its been 2 months i m keep calling and emailing them to provide me my cover letter for the period I had Irish life but ridiculously every time they say we will send you soon and I didn't get it yet so I have no proof for my new health insurance provider to show I already had health insurance. this is ridiculous and i don't recommend Irish life to anybody.
Taken our money but we can not access the policy and they won't helping fixing the problem
If we could give 0 stars we would. We bought health insurance through Irish life health for our son who is attending university in Ireland. After we paid for the policy he could not access the policy on his account, it says he doesn't have a health insurance policy. We have called the company 9 times, we have used the web chat twice and they claim the policy doesn't exist. Customer service has supposedly emailed IT 3 times. He is now in Ireland and can't access his health policy which means he cannot access a doctor or prescriptions. Basically this company has taken our money and is doing nothing to fix their mistake. Don't use this company if you have any other option
Locked out of all services
I cannot log into my account to make a claim or see my accounts and I pay a fair amount for these services through my job. Irish life send many emails and I have been off work for most of this month and not read every email. I spoke with Mary on the phone in customer service who was nice but she has not put the current changes in place and could not help me access my account, and therefore I had to waste more of my time to email for support. The next policy or steps they put in place should of been done online when you login by getting some popup saying to need to do certain steps, instead of just locking paying customers out of there accounts. I am not expecting much from this review either as I see Irishlife have one and a half star review rating which tells me customer service is not something they pride themselves on either. Worse thing for me is I have no say in my provider as it's done through my job otherwise I'd be cancelling my account.

Really bad customer service and the site is buggy with no clear instructions. The customer assistant just hung up the call when i was providing feedback over my claim

I retired from the HSE last august and have endeavoured to reclaim my AVC fund since.Almost a year since I started the process and the final part of the fund minus tax arrived in my account earlier this week.Endless emails and phone calls did NOT speed up the process.I was given 4 separate payment due dates….none of which Irish life achieved. The absolute final insult was when Irish Life sent my fund to Revenue for taxing, they (Irish life)amalgamated another pension of mine which I get monthly, and according to Revenue should not have been done.Hence my remaining AVCS and my monthly pension were fleeced in tax and I received NONE of my monthly pension (€1700)and now have to claim back the excess tax I was subjected to,via my accountant on my tax return.Needless to say they are not responding to my emails, requesting an explanation and an apology for the disgraceful and distressing mess Irish Life made of my funds/pension.How can a large financial service provide such poor service?Does any financial body audit their practices/performances?
Is Irish Life Health a scam
Is Irish Life Health a scam. At time of writing they have a 81% one star review rate and my experience with them would reinforce that evaluation. I can't even sign into my account and either they are incapable or unwilling to fix the problem. They start by saying that you must wait a week for a reply to your email and then send a rubbish reply so another week goes by to wait for a another reply. Unfortunately you won't find out how bad they are until you have reason to interact with them and then it's too late. Your money was thrown away.
Moderate
Like in life impossible to get appointments, when you do it's a referral to a doctor or hospital to far away ! How can they expect to send you for a 15 minutes appointment when it's like 3/4 hours away ?
Need more facilities over the country, not excluding the rural areas !
We pay enough as it is
Ongoing Issues with Irish Life Health Website – Extremely Poor User Experience
The website is consistently slow, unresponsive, and nearly unusable. Basic tasks — such as uploading receipts, checking my policy cover, or viewing claim history — are extremely difficult due to long loading times, broken pages, and poor navigation. I have attempted to access the site using multiple browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge) with the same disappointing results.
The absence of a dedicated mobile app only adds to the frustration. In 2025, this should be a standard offering from any major insurer. Without it, Irish Life Health is falling significantly behind competitors in terms of customer accessibility and convenience.
stay away horrible customer service
did a pension top up and the customer service team does not know how to send me the statement of that top up. They will keep you on hold and then say will that they will email it, i have been calling them daily for the last 2 weeks and it is the same answer. I am now thinking of transferring the pension fund to another provider.
Absolutely disgusting
Absolutely disgusting! They’ve upgraded their website (joke) which could not get in to with my apple devices when I was badly sick and needed help over the weekend they’ve disabled their app so that wasn’t working either. After surviving the weekend I’ve called them and then gave me all the above information then, I’ve tried again and no luck again, when I’ve got in touch with Kerry on web chat she’s told me try different browser our new website bit funny with safari browser and that was it, TERRIBLE!
🔴 Shocking service from Irish Life.
🔴 Shocking service from Irish Life.
15+ months waiting for a simple pension transfer to a Personal Retirement Bond.
4 phone calls in the last 4 months — nothing but false promises, zero progress. 📞❌
I’ve spoken to multiple staff: Oísin, Kanwal, Niall — yet still no resolution.
For a company entrusted with people's life savings, this is completely unacceptable. 😡
How long must a customer chase you before you take action?

Really appalling customer service
Really appalling customer service. Extremely slow to settle claims and they rejected a claim for a procedure without referring to me, when all they needed was proof of my previous health insurance. An unreturned phone call adds to frustration with this company. I will not be renewing with them but will definitely go back to Vhi who were exemplary.
Terrible Experience
Terrible Experience – Constantly Denied Claims for No Valid Reason
I’ve been paying over €3,500 a year for health insurance with Irish Life to cover my entire family, and yet every time we file a claim for a legitimate issue clearly covered in the policy, it’s denied. The reasons given are often vague, inconsistent, or completely made up. It feels like they go out of their way to find excuses not to pay, regardless of the documentation or the medical necessity.
This is not what I expected from a company that presents itself as a reliable insurer. The frustration and stress they’ve caused during already difficult times are unacceptable. If you’re looking for peace of mind and fair treatment, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
Change of address
I wanted to change my address online. Proof of adress, signed request etc. scan and upload, error, try again later. I tried and tried, then gave up and send it by post. That's still not good enoug for them, they have to call me, ask all my details, another call to my wife as well. OK, I don't think it's normal, but whatever. The part that shocked me came when I reported the bug. They asked me my personal data again "for security and data protection". And then they just plainly told me that thanks, but they know that it's still not working. The first time I tried that was more than a week ago. So in a week, they were not able to remove the form for the change of address and replace with a message that currently the only way to do that is by post. I don't know what to expect from a company like that. Their only way to stay in business is the lack of real concurency, like so many other Irish financial institutions.
