Worst service & Benefits 👎🏼

I had the worst experience ever with Irish Life Health Insurance. The worst ever customer experience and also their policy.

I suggest you guys to avoid this and take some other insurance. They never respond to you inquiries timely and write things by themselves in your policy that shows up later that you cannot claim any benefits that you require and they will just charge you for nothing.

Poor experience transferring out of Irish Life

I really valued Irish Life as a pension provider when I was a customer. After 14 years I had to move my pension when I left my employer. Irish Life did two disappointing things -

1) They transferred my pension to the new company without ever writing to me - I logged into the Irish Life portal and saw its value was zero and nearly had a heart attack! I wondered if the new company was scamming me. All IL had to do was to email or write to me IN ADVANCE of transferring the money out

2) They shut off access to their portal as soon as my money was moved, so I couldn't even log in to see an audit history of them moving my money to the new company. And I couldn't see the value of my pension when it left IL and compare it with the new company's policy value, to check for things like hidden fees.

These steps sent me a clear message - we don't care that you were our customer for all those years. You're gone now!

I’ve been paying income protection to…

I’ve been paying income protection to Irish Life since 2021. When I became medically unfit to work in September 2024, I submitted all documents and kept them informed by email and phone multiple times — explaining that I was out of work and that my wife is 8 months pregnant.

Despite this, they ignored my situation, gave only generic template responses, delayed payment for over 7 months, and then sent it to a bank account I couldn’t access, even though I had clearly provided my correct details.

They also cancelled my policy when I couldn’t afford payments — despite telling me I wouldn’t need to pay while claiming. Irish Life completely failed us at a time of serious need.

Avoid this company at all costs — their actions were careless, unprofessional, and harmful. No one should be treated like this during one of the most difficult times in their life.

Customer service not professional

The customer support literally copy and paste the answer from the policy and are completely uncapable of explaining their own cover. It's shocking really, when you think that they are professionals that should inform people on such delicate matters.

Terrible company

Terrible company, only interested in taking money from the customer.
Had surgery last October 24. Scheduled second part of operation before Christmas. Got a letter to say payments to hospital paused. Not in the lest bit interested in care for their members. Now I have half surgery completed and hospital calling every week looking to get paid
If you want to feel stressed and disillusioned then go with Irish Life.
Read the trustpilot reviews. Make up your own mind.

Absolutely shocking and stressful…

Absolutely shocking and stressful company to deal with

I have called and emailed over the last few days a simple question before i have my procedure.

Not one person so far can explain do i have to pay or not "Subject to €2000 co-payment on orthopaedic procedures"

There excellent at copy and paste and reading from there own website ,

Customer service is challenging and inexperienced ,
No one available at the weekend

As of today still no Actual answer

Like previously mentioned excess charges are very confusing ,

All i have done is pay out €100's and will be lucky to get a 1/3 back due to complex T&C's

The irony is if i could wait and went public everything would be free

Terrible

Terrible. Digital doctors booked up all the time. Tried to make multiple claims but as there is one still in progress it won’t let me upload more claims I imagine to not truly reflect how long it takes them to process claims, just a con to scew their completion timeframes. Would not recommend.

Horrific company

Horrific company, I was forced to sign up with these COWBOYS due it supplied for by my company, Even though my company is paying my full monthly fees, they have cancelled my membership on 3
occasions in less than 4 months, this leads to me having take time out of my busy day to rectify the issue (which is the same every time). I would advise anyone looking for private health insurance to look at ANY other option than this negligent bunch of amateurs.

Rang Wednesday didn't get appointment till Friday

Rang Digital doctors had to wait ages to get through. Today is Wednesday close to 3pm, next available appointment appointment available is 7am Friday morning. Waste of time for working parents. Will probably have to take day off work to go to our own GP

The worst health insurance that I had…

The worst health insurance that I had in my life I cannot believe how bad is this company, they do not care at all about you.
Everything that I have requested was refused, they do not care about their customers.
Irish life no words for you, just so disappointed.

First Pension payment

First Pension payment - beware. Irish Life will happily use Emergency Tax to remove HALF of your annual pension, without warning you or suggesting you contact Revenue to transfer your tax credits over to your pension. I was told this is the normal process - how utterly incompetent and lazy is that for a pension company. An appalling customer experience - I now need to contact Revenue for a refund.

The worst service in the world...

I've been a customer for more than a year, now I tried to use it with the online doctor and it's not available so I'm paying for nothing, I'm trying to cancel my policy because they don't meet the conditions we have and I have to pay almost 300€ more for cancelling the policy.... for me in my opinion they're no more than scamers and thieves, also to cancel the policy they had me more than one hour on the phone, the worst health care service I've ever had

Health insurance with Irish Life

Re, health insurance with Irish life. Impossible to speak to anyone if any issues, if you do get someone, they can't help. App does not work. Cannot make any claims. No service. Leaving as soon as my contract is up.

Auto renewal/ cancellation dodgy behaviour

Incredibly bad customer service - make it impossible to stop your auto renewal. I rang to cancel my policy due for renewal next month. They accepted the cancellation, however i kept getting emails saying thank you for renewing so i rang again to confirm cancellation. They said ‘oh sorry there has been an error your cancellation is on file ignore the emails.’ More emails came . I rang again today and they informed me that they see i canceled with them but ‘it never went through’ and now i am being charged the direct debit- so essentially taking money illegally out of my account, and they said it’s too late to stop the DD. They noted they will refund me but at the end of the day I suffer as i have to go without said money for a period.

No trust with services that make it that hard to cancel renewals.
I think this is very unfair- especially if i was elderly or short on money. Any service that makes it this hard to cancel a service ( with no contract in place) is shady in my books
