Unfortunately I have to confirm everything said below
Scam operation
They advertised a no-deposit service, they then surprisingly took a £350 deposit, never returned and disappeared
Reported to the authorities
This company is a scam and STAY away from it.
I had to pay a deposit of £350. Its been more than 50 days now and I still haven’t received the refund. If you check other reviews here its confirmed that all have had the same issue. I have been sending them email every day for the last 10 days – No response.
I have been calling them for the last 2 weeks – Always goes to the answering machine.
They also sent me a notice of 90£ fine for travelling in non congestion zone in London. I wasn’t aware about this (This was my first time in London) and ideally I should have been informed about this potential charge. They also charged me a 45£ processing fee, total adding up to 135£. I was of the understanding that they will deduct the 135£ from my deposit and refund the rest(Isnt that the reason why they charge a 45£ processing fee?) but they asked me to pay for it!!!.
Since I did not want any additional issues or charges on this fine, I made the payment for 135£ to …
I am still waiting for them to respond t my emails and calls regarding my deposit refund.
It’s a nightmare and a SCAM. I am surprised that there are only about 14 reviews on trustpilot/trip advisor about this!!
Please stay away from this company
I wish I had read the reviews here before I hired a car. The car hire was c.£200 with a deposit of £250. We were told the deposit would be returned within 30 days of the car hire period.
Then? Nothing. We contacted customer service repeatedly to the extent that they then stopped taking our calls. They even said to us that we should claim the deposit back from our credit card company.
They are scammers and should be avoided at all costs. How they are still operational and haven't been shut down by trading standards, is baffling. We have reported them to Trading Standards.
terrible company. impossible to get the deposit back. their phone is never answered and diverts straight to voicemail which then tells you the mailbox is full. complete scam. they assume that you will get the money back from the credit card you used to pay them the deposit. unfortunately there's a problem because technically you have no purchase protection from the card due to it being a deposit payment. utter bastards. do not go near them.
Absolute scam!!!!!
This rubbish scammers never return deposit!!! I’m upset that I didn’t read reviews before I ended up renting a car with them.
AVOID!!!
I got my money back by disputing it through my bank!!!
I am truly feel sorry for people who hired car from this company. This company is awful and customer service is disgusting. Only one person normally answer the phone and she is very rude and arrogant. If you constantly phone they will blacklist your number. I hace been chasing them for few weeks and still can't get any answers regarding my deposite. I have to go through my credit card. This company is setup to money launder as they are not interested in car hire or customers concern. Plus they have second company which probably doesn't exit but you get billed under that company. So when it comes to your refund you will not find any answers. People beware of the scamm. People will drawn into by their price but I would choose some reputable company and pay little more. At least you know you're covered or can raise concerns. Dont fall for it and regret it.
Scam - rented a car in Bulgaria (Sofia Airport) from them - it was shown as a golf, but was offered a 200k mile Kia when I arrived. When I complained was instead given a 194k mile Passat. I returned it with a scratch on the rocket panel, which I flagged and received a charge of GBP 1,600 for this (my full deposit) - despite this being the value of the car and the paperwork showing a paint issue would cost around GBP 132. I got scammed by them.
Awful company. Do not use. The car wasn't where it was stated on initial hire agreement, sent me the location 10 minutes before the pick up time, a mile away. Didn't return my deposit of £350. Kept chasing them weekly. Money taken on 3rd June, 2 days after the hire completed. Had to go through my credit card company. Eventually got the money back on 18th August.
I rented a car in June and they took a £350 deposit which was supposed to be returned after 30 days. The deposit was not returned and I called them multiple times. They kept telling me it would be returned by the end of the week only for this not to happen. I called them today and they told me there is something wrong with their system and I should contact my bank to get the money back. Avoid this company in every way. They are total scammers and not professional at all.
Scammers and poor service - don’t hire from them.
Pre booked it weeks in advance and only got pick up instructions less than 30 mins before my hire was due to start - didn’t know whether I would need to rebook somewhere else or not. They don’t pick up calls or respond to emails.
Then they actually take £350 deposit from your account than have it as hold, and don’t return it for months or reply to any correspondence.
Also got penalty charge notices for blackwall tunnel crossing which all other normal rental companies have included as standard and over £100 in admin fees from them.
These guys are fraudsters, watch out.
Just terrible. I wish I'd done some research before booking, but I used a price comparison site so assumed the vendors were all kosher. Not so, EZ Drive use all kinds of techniques to scam people out of their cash in the hope you cba to get a refund or have forgotten they're holding a large deposit. They have operated under numerous names in the past, so when things get hot, they dissolve the company and start again with a new one, leaving creditors out of pocket. With this in mind avoid the small claims procedure and get your bank to reverse the payment - refer them to posts online about whichever con trick they diddled you with.
They spoke very rudely to me when I asked for the warranty back.
Purchased a car to rent via Carjet which used EZ as a vehicle provider. After my transaction I was called by the company that the car I payed for was unavailable and that there were no other cars available in the Luton Branch. I then requested a refund and they told me that they would send me a cancellation email. I have not received a cancellation email. I had to get my refund through the Carjet website which then charged me an extra (£140+) as a cancellation fee through their website. The customer service was abhorrent and clearly a dodgy south asian company. Please do not use as they are a bunch of scammers.
Had an awful experience with the company and the customer team, especially Karen (assuming she provided the correct name) was utterly disappointed. Screaming and not allowing to speak.
We booked a car through discovercars which used Ez. Unfortunately, the car was not provided. We have tried to contact Ez, but the voice message says the working hours are 8:00am so we waited out side in the parking lot till 6 am, no car was provided. Therefore, we headed back to Luton and rented a car from another company.
In the morning I called them again and the lady other the phone said that she needs to check with Luton, follow that she said that the car unfortunately was not assigned to us and that we should receive a refund.
Now, discovercar is saying that the car was there and that according to the policy we cannot get the refund.
As well, they have received a false statement that EZ car called us at the time and we have not answered until later in the day. Well, there is no call history of you trying to contact us.
Avoid at all cost, I am looking to put a complaint further to BVRLA and others
I paid for a rental with EZ Drive Rentals via a comparison site called Car Jet. Avoid both companies at all costs, unless you want to be very disappointed and ripped off.
I booked the rental on Thursday evening for a 10am pick up on the following Saturday. The rental voucher and EZ website noted that the ''checkin'' needed to be done prior to collection and that they have a grace period of two hours between the booked pick up time and the actual time the vehicle is picked up.
On the saturday morning at around 9.20 I completed the checkin process which was sent through to EZ at around 9.40am. The check in page then remained with a status of ''...your vehicle assignement is pending...''.
This is where the checkin page remained. I hopefully went to the place the voucher directed me to in the hope there might be a kiosk or something there.
I called car jet twice when I couldn't see any sign of the car at around 11.10am. I then called EZ.
They told me that as I had not completed my check in within office hours (which would have been 8am-6pm the day before) that it had caused them an issue. They claimed they had tried to call me on the friday but I have no missed calls from them that day. I said I'd not received any emails telling me to check in within those times. They said they weren't given my email which seemed odd as I'd received everything to my email address and they had my phone number which was completed within the same information.
They said they had also called at 9.35am on the saturday morning, I had a missed call but no voicemail warning me the booking may be cancelled or there was an issue. No text message or anything like that and still no email.
They then told me because I had checked in at 9.30am that they'd decided to cancel my booking and had let Car Jet know. But not me. Instead I went to city airport, looked around for the car and then had to make several phone calls to find out the car I'd paid for, followed the instructions to check in to understand which car it was, and travelled to the airport to collect was no longer available to me and I wouldn't receive a refund.
having followed their instructions and looked at the information on their website which suggests nothing like what i was told, I can only deduct that this entire thing is a scam and the company likely don't have the cars available to be hired so wait until the time of the booking has passed and then cancel the booking.
I missed attending an important appointment hours outside of london and couldn't get an alternative method of transport in time to get there. The whole thing was very upsetting and needless to say I would never use this company or tell anyone else to. Stick to the normal rental companies, they have offices at city airport, they are professional and they may cost more but at least you actually get a car rather than just being ripped off and dissapointed. This company can not be relied upon and has no customer service
Awful company. I rented a car and it absolutely stank of weed. Not only did they not care but they haven’t even had the decency to return my emails disputing the charges. Avoid at all costs.
Extremely disappointed with EZ Drive. We booked a car months ago for our Christmas trip, relying on the price they confirmed. A week before collection, they demanded we pay double the agreed price, citing a "high-season supplement," claiming it was an error on their part. This has left us in an impossible position during peak season with no alternatives available.
To make matters worse, they have completely ignored my emails and phone calls, showing zero regard for resolving their mistake or even communicating with their customers.
Avoid this unscrupulous company at all costs—completely unprofessional and unreliable.
Booked my car last minute, and was very easy to do paperwork and to manage all the details. They have sent a form to sign the contract, checked my details all online, via app/websites, and the next day a gentleman by the name S. Khan, drove me a brand new car straight to the location I requested. We had a bit of confusing communication, as I was super stressed, but the company went above and beyond to accommodate me.
S. Khan, helped me to navigate through their apps, understand how the check in works and how the company works. he was very polite, respectful, jolly to talk to. I had an amazing experience with the drive, the car was super smooth and the communication was on point everytime I needed something or had any issues.
I will definitely recommend this company to anyone I know and can guarantee an amazing and pleasant experience with the company.
Thank you again for the experience, 5 Stars is a no-brainer)
