Review of Living DNA
Accurate. I had my maternal DNA tested (and patental DNA tested through my father years ago) with another company.
Over a decade later I researched who was the best for getting a more comprehensive haplogroup subclade and found Living DNA (knowing, providing the sample myself, I would get mtDNA and Autosomal).
So I knew what Haplogroup I would be, if Living DNA were accurate. Previously I'd been given just one letter by the other company, but Living DNA were able to breakdown this further. For example just a plain haplogroup 'A' with the old company turned into A1b2b3 provided by Living DNA. Not my real haplogroup, but just to demonstrate.
Autosomal DNA provided no real surprises, so I would say was also pretty accurate.
I also have 400+ matches who are 3rd, 4th, 5th etc cousins genetically. Looking at the website it is getting updated all the time and will be adding maps in common with these matches.
We are going to get other family members tested and I have bought kits as gifts for others which they have been satisfied with.

Review of American Express Global
I like them, never had any problems with Amex to date (touch wood) and they have some useful perks with the card.
Always get notification in advance as to when the direct debit will occur. The App is easy to use.
I wish other credit cards had the perks that Amex does.
Review of Halifax
I've been with Halifax for almost 40 years and had several different accounts and products.
I find their App easy to use. One or two issues have caused inconvenience (like when I wanted a cheque book they made me visit a branch during the pandemic) but generally, and compared to other banks I've had accounts with, they are very good.
Review of Wickes
Don't bother ordering online. Trying to order some goods for delivery. Entered my credit card details, got payment verified then at the top of the screen Wickes say problem with card provider! Yet it was still listed on my bank account as a debit. Rang customer service, no reply, eventually got to chat to someone on the chat function who said it hasn't gone through, the money should go back into my account.
Fast forward a month, I try again, using a different card. Same thing happens all over again.
Forget it Wickes, not chancing it a third time there is obviously something wrong with your system that needs looking at urgently.
A total waste of time spent browsing items, going through checkout only for there to be glitches with the system. Sort it out!
Incidentally there isn't a problem with my cards, never had any issues with other shops or indeed B&Q who I shopped with online straight after this episode.

Review of NS&I
Interest rates now 0.01%. After luring people in they callously cut the interest rates to more or less zero.
We have transferred 90% of the money away from NS&I. Also premium bonds prize payment has been reduced, we usually get a few £25 each a month in total between members of our household usually adding up to £250 or similar, but some months now get absolutely zilch between us, how does that happen!
Trying to transfer money out also takes days. Frustrating online logging in system, often having to call to confirm rather than just a text etc.
Review of Coventry Building Society
**Edit: Customer Service below has not answered my query. My child has never received a NHS medical card, so we can't apply. Not only do Coventry make things impossible, they don't address problems. Never had this child ID problem with other financial institutions!**
Waste of time. Trying to open a Junior ISA for a child who has already had an account with the Coventry, as do I.
Two forms of ID required for a young child, even though a current customer. Firstly photographic. Okay so I don't particularly like sending original passports etc off, even by special delivery and doubt they would send back registered. And, what - a second ID also has to be sent for the child?
My young child does not have, and is not old enough to have: a driving licence, bank statements, home insurance, council tax bill, utility bills, medical card (like the NHS issue them anymore!) in her name confirming her address. From this very narrow list, time limited documents too.
Too onerous, don't bother. Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork in every way. Gone with a different bank whose application process was nothing like this. The Coventry 2 ID requirements is impossible and a waste of time when they can, and probably will, change the interest rates at any time.

Review of Hotel Chocolat
Unlike almost every other company, you do not receive notifications about delivery of the goods to your recipients. No text or email that gifts have arrived safely. I ordered across several different dates and items on the website. When logging into your account is says 'order completed' but that is about it, this seems to be stated when payment has gone through, not delivered. I would like to know that my recipients have safely received my orders, and when, but no it doesn't seem possible as you receive absolutely no notifications. Not satisfactory when many other companies use delivery services where you can track exactly where they are and what time it will arrive. Put me off ordering again as gift deliveries. All I can hope is that everyone received their gifts, I did hear off one person who thanked me, but seems rude to have to ask someone 'did you receive your gift?!' when it's meant to be a nice surprise, should not have to do this.

The incompetence of this bank is beyond belief.
I raised a dispute which they (eventually and with no efficiency) rectified. Only for them to bring it up again months later as if it was never resolved.
Wasting their, mine and everyone's time. Unbelievable.
Review of Secure Trust Bank PLC
Trying to change nominated bank account.
Unlike every other bank, you can't change it online immediately. I have had to call them, upload statements and still they have not changed my nominated bank account.
Wasting time sending messages to and from. This is therefore a neutral review until the issue is sorted. Worrying when you have a lot of savings entrusted to them and they are not changing your nominated bank account with ease. The process is too difficult. I don't want to waste time calling them yet again. They still worryingly have my old bank account listed! Heaven knows where any of my payments would end up - not with me.

Marks and Spencer bank is the only bank I have had trouble with trying to get a refund on my credit card (all of which are Mastercard).
Having had holidays cancelled I had paid deposits and balances with several Mastercards with different banks. All other banks credited my cards within a couple of days. Except M&S who make the process difficult, wanting receipts, invoices, etc and even a month later I am still waiting for some idea of where they are up to.
This is pathetic and I have never known anything like it. I am switching all my accounts with M&S to other banks. You can't even pay a cheque in on their app.
M&S say they need to gain 'evidence' of the dispute. Yet all other Mastercards with my other banks haven't needed anything, and said it's up to the company to dispute it, not the customer (i.e me) once you've been credited.
M&S don't even reply to complaints or letters. There is no incentive to have accounts with them.

After weeks still waiting for S75 refund, whereas other banks have refunded under S75 within days, M&S are incompetent! Time to leave this bank, stick at what you're good at M&S, not banking.
Review of Holiday Extras
Had to cancel 4 bookings which they gave me vouchers for. Ignored requests for a refund and emails, despite stating this option is available.

Review of Virgin Atlantic Holidays
I used my Virgin Credit card to buy a holiday costing over £5000. Virgin holidays cancelled my holiday and had some of my money for over a year. Months later they had still not refunded me. I raised a Section 75 to get the money back with Virgin Credit Card, then to be told it is going to be disputed. A bunch of thieves! The whole Virgin brand.
