Having been a loyal customer for 35…
Having been a loyal customer for 35 years I am extremely disappointed with Virgin banking following my one and only claim for credit card fraud during this period. I submitted detailed evidence of fraudulent activity, including evidence that other banks had refunded their customers for the exact same falsely advertised and miss-sold experience, only to receive a generic response which didn’t answer the details of my claim. It was obvious that they hadn’t reviewed any of the evidence I painstakingly put together and Virgin banking’s only interest is in lining their own pockets rather than protecting loyal customers. I am disgusted at the way I have been treated, having waited several months for a response from my initial claim I have now had to spend more time appealing their decision. Other UK banks clearly value their customers more and are dedicated to protecting them, and having received no response to my appeal I will be closing all of my Virgin accounts and moving elsewhere. Do not bank with Virgin if you want to be treated like an individual human being.
Excellent job for the customer
Excellent job for the customer, responded and decided immediately and everything is organised and clear.I am contented and happy.
Awful bank for businesses.
Awful bank, they limit everything you can do and when you try to change it they interrogate you about your business and why you need to access your own money.
We needed to increase our daily BACS and CHAPS limits, have been trying for over a year now and they make it impossible to do. We are essentially running our business with one hand tied behind our back.
If you want decent customer service. DON'T USE THIS BANK
Had the same account for FIFTY years (originating as Yorkshire Bank, that had the strap line 'Friendliness, we built a bank on it) since this shower took over, the customer care and service has declined persistently towards the gutter.
irrelevant 'chat', inept advisors, disgusting wait times are accepted as normal from a distanced, unconcerned, scripted bunch that can't understand the simplest form of the English language.
Losing the will to live after being past from pillar to post EVERYTIME I try to contact anyone.
I want to close my account, but Action Fraud advised otherwise.
Virgin monies reaction, passed the buck, they couldn't care less !!!!!!!
Do not bank your business with Virgin Money
Terrible experience, now closing the account.
A) When we opened the account, Virgin gave my details to a third party who badgered me with calls to sell me credit card services, trying to send people to my home to 'speed things up'. This for a service that I hadn't asked for.
B) Virgin added people to the mandate and gave them credit cards without my permission, despite me calling beforehand to explain that any such actions would need my express written agreement.
C) The slick online opening account process does not match the 'we need a wet signature for other instructions' post opening account.
In conclusion, Virgin Money is a fine way to lose hours of time and credibility. If you want to open a business account, even Metrobank is better than this.
Great Customer Service From Sandra
I’d like to say a big thank you to Sandra from customer services (apologies if I didn’t catch your name properly) who I spoke to yesterday about the problems I was having with an online savings account which was maturing. I wanted to transfer my money to another account but couldn’t find the right steps to complete. Sandra was wonderful. She talked me through the whole process and was very clear and extremely patient. She knew exactly where I’d gone wrong and before long the transfer was completed and a new account set up. Sandra is just the sort of person you’d hope to get at the other end of the telephone - but rarely do - if you’re having problems which you can’t resolve yourself. She turned my very frustrating experience into a good one and all I can say is that Virgin Money is very lucky to have her.
Problems setting up the app

Opened a business saving account as had good interest rate for instant access a few months back, no drama with it.
Needed to withdraw funds & a bit apprehensive with all the negative reviews about attitude of staff etc.
I had a ten minute call in all about an issue i was having, staff very polite, had to be transferred to another member, polite & had a laugh as i thought he was AI & money in my nominated account, no bother.
No issues so got to give credit when due hence the five stars at this present time.
Maybe i got lucky but im a happy customer

Excellent Customer Service
Virgin Money’s customer service is excellent. Every interaction I’ve had has been handled swiftly, efficiently, and with a friendly, professional approach. It’s reassuring to deal with a team that listens and resolves matters promptly. Truly great service from start to finish.
Rude "Customer Services" & No Reply to Complaints
After being hung up on by a rude, unhelpful member of Virgin Money's staff, I have complained via email twice since 5th October and had zero replies / help - in what is a very simple matter. I simply want to create an online account.
He asked me for the usual ID - which I gave him (name, address, sort code, account number, 4 digits & expiry date) - he then asked me to give him recent transactions - I GAVE HIM 7 (various debits and credits).
He asked if I could call into a branch - told him I am not able to (not least due to branches being closed left, right & centre across the UK).
I asked him for my customer number so I could proceed my end - he just ignored me! No answer. No number.
I informed him I DO NOT have a customer number to proceed with setting up internet banking (never have had one) and even when I try to create by "clicking forgotten customer number" and entering sort code, account and mobile - you should send a code via text - it NEVER arrives (tried 6 times now).
Following above and me giving all the asked for information he then asked for further debits & credits on my account & to call THEM back. As I started to answer him that I had already given him 7 (seven) transactions - he simply hung up on me.
Very rude!
I SIMPLY want to create an online, internet banking account. NEVER had an issue with any other bank - their processes are simple, require fewer checks & always set up properly.
Maybe you'll reply on here seeing as no one replies to emails or answers your phones.

Very rude and unprofessional experience when trying to open a business account
I recently tried to open a business account with Virgin Money, and I was honestly shocked by how rude and unhelpful their staff were. My business is just over a month old, but they kept demanding a five-year business history, which makes absolutely no sense for a new business. When I explained that it’s a startup, they were dismissive and spoke to me in a rude tone instead of offering any help or understanding.
The whole experience was frustrating and unprofessional. In the end, I decided to withdraw my application completely. I wouldn’t recommend Virgin Money to anyone starting a new business — their attitude and lack of support make the process unnecessarily difficult and unpleasant.

Having been locked out of the app and did not have my card number on me I had no choice but to call. Amy M picked up and help me do everything I needed! All in the space of 7 minutes and 35 seconds. I work for a rival and I’m sure it would have taken longer just to get through to someone. Thank you Amy M
Won’t ever use Virgin again…..
Having recently been in the position to pay off my credit card balance I attempted to log into my app using my credit card number, not a chance.
Three attempts at inputting the correct number from my card I am locked out with the reason being ‘number incorrect’.
When I eventually log in online, after transferring the funds onto my Monzo card, I proceed through the system only to arrive at a message saying that payments can no longer be made from a debit card on the app.
Frustrating doesn’t even come close & I guess they make it so difficult so as to enable them to add interest charges.
Not me sweet cheeks, I’m more patient than that 😊
Application process is non-sensical
When I opened the current account for access to great savings rates all was fine and there's been loads of great rates. Process was slick, easy and quick. Now it's all Pete Tong. I wanted to shift a maturing ISA into another Fix. I had to apply as a new customer. Then half way through it suggests it knows me continue or login. Neither way made sense as it wanted a reregistration of all login details(this seemed like a scam) or if I logged in, it wasn't set up to take my long customer number. I eventually just transferred out to another bank. Until they sort their product applications to be a few click process, I'll not be getting any more. Other than this it would be 5*.
