AVOID.
I’ve used Ultrasound Direct via Medichecks before without issue, but this recent experience was absolutely appalling.
I called a month ago with no answer and was promised a callback that never happened. When I called again, I was told it was “impossible” not to be called back yet no one did.
Yesterday, I was told to call back with my serial number before the appointment, not necessarily the same day. When I called today, I was met with an extremely rude and arrogant staff member who spoke to me with zero respect. She even told me she “didn’t like my attitude” and cancelled my appointment on the spot!
Completely unacceptable behaviour and no understanding of customer service. I’ve already reported this to Medichecks. I will never use Ultrasound Direct again and would strongly advise others to avoid them.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Ultrasound Direct.
When booking my test, I was clearly informed that results would be available within three weeks. It has now been five weeks, and I have had to chase multiple times for updates. To make matters worse, the information I was later given directly contradicted what I was told at booking, I was suddenly informed that results take “at least three weeks” with no clear timeframe provided.
This lack of transparency and consistency has had very real consequences. I had scheduled my IVF treatment based on the original timeframe I was assured, and the delay has now disrupted my treatment plan. For something as time-sensitive and emotionally challenging as fertility treatment, clear communication and reliability are absolutely essential, and unfortunately, this has not been my experience.
I paid £499 for this test and expected a professional standard of care and communication. Instead, I’ve been left with uncertainty, unnecessary stress, and no confidence in the process. I had intended to continue using Ultrasound Direct for further scans as part of my journey, but based on this experience, I do not feel comfortable doing so.
I would urge anyone considering using this service for fertility-related tests to be cautious and seek clarity upfront, as my experience has shown that the timelines and assurances given cannot be relied upon.

Our printer scan pictures were lovely and clear and we were sent a digital file with lots of lovely extra photos and videos. Highly recommend!
Misleading, rushed, and dismissive — avoid for post-surgical imaging
Booked a shoulder & upper arm ultrasound (Peterborough) following a troubling joint replacement surgery in 2023. Their website promises a 20-minute diagnostic scan with detailed reporting — I got 12 minutes total, including a rushed scan and a one-line “impression.” No bursa, no Doppler, no meaningful assessment of my known tendinopathy. Their conclusion was that I had no issue whatsoever, which is simply untrue given my medical history and ongoing symptoms.
When I challenged the lack of depth, they claimed the time included “reviewing several X-ray images” — I showed just one X-ray image briefly. They also falsely claimed I was offered the option not to proceed. A trainee was present and can confirm this never happened.
If you have complex or post-surgical anatomy, beware: they don’t disclose limitations upfront, and their response to complaints is defensive and inaccurate. I’ve escalated to my bank and the Care Quality Commission.

Amazing experience for both me and my partner on our fertility journey I had pelvic scan ultrasound direct in Derby by Ben in April was excellent very informative, understanding and professional my partner had test/scrotum today he was nervous and again exceptional service very thorough lovely staff Louise was brilliant with him and gave us really useful insight into the scan
Homophobic Sonographer
Fertility progress scans for me and my wife. From the moment we walked in, the lazy sonographer was sat lounging on the sofas on her mobile phone. Instead of looking up and smiling, she grunted at us. Almost snarled. Receptionist was lovely thankfully. They asked if we were sisters, we announced we were wives, of course the atmosphere got even worse then. Sonographer barely spoke to us, was rude when she said I needed an empty bladder and tutted when i went to the toilet. The experience got so much worse after that.
My wife and I have been documenting our entire journey online of our IVF/fertility. So, we planned to film this part too. We didnt see the 'no filming sign' as it was hidden by a sharps bin. So, my wife pulled her camera out to film the screen (not the sonographer)
The sonographer hit the roof, incredibly rude "PUT THAT PHONE AWAY NOW!' like some kind of old school head teacher. My wife said "excuse me? you really dont need to have that tone with me" Sonographer then took her hand off the probe which was still inside me. Then threatened to stop the appointment. She was AWFUL. I mean, you can tell this woman is nasty/controlling to her kids type of woman. Doesn't like someone talking back to her.
Things got even worse and my wife was told to get out. We were desperate for the scans so I had to progress awkwardly with her, time constraints and pressure being on day 10 stims! I needed my scan/follicle results so i kept my mouth shut whilst she demanded the receptionist come in the room (without asking my permission for another person in the room whilst my bits are on full show)
She was then rough with the probe, hurting me of course. Barely a word from her. The scan was pointless. My clinic said she was re-counting follicles. I came out of the appointment to my wife in the car in floods of tears. As soon as she handed me my paperwork, I exploded, she got a deserved shouting at. of course this part is on their reception ring cam so the overall company defended the sonographer. if only there was a camera in that sonographer room!
Still waiting on a refund for my wifes scan she didn't have. 'Sibley' seems to be completely ignoring me on email. Will be reporting the clinic and sonographer to all relevant places. They should be CQC registered and they weren't! Bogus place, poorly ran, HQ doesnt investigate staff miss-conduct and defends bad behaviours. How many bad reviews before you act on your prestwich clinic?!
Amazing experience in Telford Today😊
We have had such an amazing experience today at the Telford branch. We visited for an early viability scan due to a miscarriage we experienced last year. We were both very nervous and the team were incredible!!!! We would like to say a massive thankyou to Jo Gwilt (our sonographer) for her amazing customer service and going above and beyond through it all. I will definitely be returning for future scans & highly recommend to everyone.

Absolute disaster of an experience

We had an appointment at 10 for our first scan at the Liverpool location. After waiting until 10:45am a lady contacted them asking where they were. Ultrasound direct stated they had no clinics today in Liverpool and that the people waiting for their scan would have to book another day or travel for a scan. One person had booked via the telephone last week and we had booked online so they probably just couldn't be bothered coming today or it wasn't' worth the trip as they didn't have a full clinic. Another female waiting was going through IVF treatment and was in urgent need for a scan before 12pm. They then contacted myself and my partner and the woman on the phone was extremely rude and abrupt. There was no apology and no empathy for the circumstances people may be in. Waiting in the room with other females crying but there was absolutely zero care for them. We were simply told to book another day or to have a refund. No apology, no customer service. Nothing. The way myself and others were treated today was an absolute disgrace and I would highly recommend to find somewhere else than this place.
Gender Scan …
We had a gender scan yesterday in Lincoln with S.Nijar and Michelle on reception. They both made it such a special experience. The scan and all the pictures and videos are great value for money, would 100 % recommend if thinking about having a gender scan with ultrasound direct
Amazing service in Plymouth
I had an appointment this afternoon in Plymouth to check my testes as I was concerned about a possible symptom.
Laura was very professional and understanding as was the lady who greeted me at reception. They both put me at ease and really helped.
I’ll definitely be returning here for future health checks.

I’ve been absolutely blown away by the customer service at Ultrasound Direct Stirling — especially from Tahera. Navigating IVF can be incredibly challenging, but Tahera has consistently gone above and beyond to support me. She’s kind, understanding, and always does everything she can to help me find the appointments I need, even at short notice. Her compassion and professionalism have made such a difference during a really emotional time.
Thank you so, so much Tahera — I honestly don’t know what I would’ve done without your support. You’re a real credit to the team!
Really disappointed
Really disappointed. I booked a scan a few weeks in advance but called last minute to bring it forward after some concerning blood test results. The morning of the appointment I dragged myself there through severe nausea, while parked outside began vomiting and was unable to go inside. I called straight away, apologised profusely and asked if it would be possible to rearrange. I was told that I’d receive a call back regarding my deposit within ten mins, when I got the call I was told that my deposit had been lost and that had I rang the doorbell the girls “would’ve likely been really good and let me reschedule” - I asked why no one told me that over the phone (baring in mind I was busy throwing up at this point) I was told “we should not have to tell an adult what the right thing to do is”. I was so upset I had to end the call. I’ve visisted window to the womb with both of my previous pregnancies and had a wonderful experience, but thought I’d try ultrasound direct this time as it’s closer to home. Never again!!! their customer service is awful so I have rebooked with another provider. I fully understand the rules around bookings but believe discretion could’ve been used given the circumstances as I highly doubt the radiographer would’ve appreciated scanning a lady while she’s throwing up. However I’m most upset by the words used and judgement around why I didn’t “just ring the doorbell”. It is a busy high street and I was vommiting into a Sainsbury’s bag, where is the dignity in that.
Following this I received an email whereby the operations manager offered to refund my deposit, on the basis I remove this review. I explained I will not be doing so and that I am happy for them to keep my deposit. This furthers my disgust in how ‘conditional’ their policy and procedures are. Avoid avoid avoid!
Derby - Upper abdominal & pelvic scan (female)
Having needed a more recent pelvic scan following a year wait on a gynae referral and being informed that it was a 14 week wait for a non-routine scan, I looked at going private for my own peace of mind. I was generally surprised how in-expensive a pelvic scan cost privately and booked up straight away. To have your abdomen scanned it was not much more so thought may as well get a general health review being a 50 year old with a history of endometriosis and PCOS.
The centre was easy to find and they have parking to the rear of the property accessed via the next street. The instructions on the website were clear with that however this could be made clearer by stating the signage for the car park. The actual car park entrance is unclear being it is not marked up as Ultrasound Direct.
I had a male sonographer, which did not bother me having had multiple scans over the years with some of those done by males. Friendly, informative and pleasant manner to keep you at ease. Compared to a NHS type scan, I was more than happy and in fact quite impressed. They take their time, explain and you can have a good visual of the screen and say what parts where. After the scan you get a detailed summary and if want you can download your photos. At those prices, who would want to go via NHS again, especially as you can be treated awfully and they tell you nothing. If you are in urgent need of a scan or just want to check up, highly recommend for such a small cost.

They sold us a confetti cannon for do the grand reveal. At the party, it was faulty and did not work/function. They event was somewhat ruined.
Upon asking for a refund, they asked for a photo of it not working (how do you send a photo of something not working) but we did had a photo of me trying to pop it. Despite this, they still refuse to refund me which is not a great way to look after customers who have conducted two scans there.

NEVER GOING BACK HERE!! I am really disappointed by the clinic’s approach. We attended a gender scan and purchased a confetti cannon for £20. We followed the instructions provided by the receptionist on the day. When we tried to set the cannon off, it didn’t work at all. It was really disappointing and ruined our gender reveal and a special moment.
When we complained to the company, they wouldn’t provide a refund unless we provided photos of the fault. We provided a photo of us trying to set off the canon. This was all we had - we put the camera down once we realised it wouldn’t work. The company has refused to provide a refund of £20. Disappointing in the grand scheme of things - we have paid for 2 private scans with this company and were good customers. I am a solicitor and my partner is an FCA regulated individual - we felt as though this company are accusing us of lying which is insulting.
I would not trust this company or recommend booking appointments with them or trusting them with your special, precious moments with your little one. Save yourself the disappointment and poor customer service.
