Yet they keep trying to charge - block your cards and report them as fraud
I have scheduled a first lesson with a teacher online, he did not show up, I reported the situation and did not get any explanation. I rescheduled another time, with another teacher, 2 days later, and the same situation happenned again: NO SHOW from the teacher, no contact, no explanation... I make time in my schedule for those lessons, with all my good will, and you make me/us wait and loose my/our time. We can't even try the service you offer. How serious is that ?? Well, maybe the service doesn't even exist and that is a huge scam !!! Very disappointed.
And of course they charge you almost 300€ before you have time to try or cancel the service.
STAY AWAY.
I will report it to the consumer association and the BEUC.
They just charged me when I never activated my account! What? Help! Contacting my bank.
There are errors in their app but worse than that: Don't give them your payment info or you may receive fraudulent charges! And don't count on Paypal to back you up!

I got given a free trial as a part of a subscription to a sister company. I never activated this free trial but then got £230 debited from my account for no reason. When I asked for a refund I was told they wouldn't give me this, despite the fact the joining email made it clear I needed to activate my account before anything happened.
I eventually had to get my bank to refund me after which I got a nonsensical email from Rype trying to claim the refund was because of a change in their policy rather than because my bank literally took the money back. Dishonest company, avoid like the plague.
HUGE scam and the app provides no contact to a real person or auto-bot to get a refund on what they steal for simply looking at the app, not purchase it, just open it and BAM money stolen.. DONT EVEN LOOK AT THE APP... Bad app and BAD PEOPLE
I was charged 115 dollars then a few days later was charged 295. I signed up to get one month free through jumpspeak and was charged the full price anyway. (295)I don't know what the 115 was for.I attempted to contact them twice through support email and have not received a response. They do not have a support phone number.
Teachers are so cool and great but I have a majoe problem. I want to end my subscription but there is no cancel button. What should I do?
I tried it for a month and it wasn't for me. However, it is set to auto-renew by default and so it billed me for the next month (179.99). It hit my bank two days later and I contacted support and asked to get it canceled and refunded however they literally have a 2 day no refund policy with no exceptions. Very shady!!!

I have been a Chinese teacher with them for more than one year. I don’t get lots of students, and so far, they have not paid me nothing.
They used a booking system before the new one, but the classes I taught with the old system is not counted.
I am so disappointed with their service.
They try to get more students, but at the same time, they treat the Teachers like trash!
Rype commented that they have contacted me privately, but I haven’t received any email or whatever from them except 70 dollar promotion Ad. I have submitted emails to Trustpilot, and they approved my review to show to people.
Rype claimed that I am using fake alias, no, I am not fake. I taught many students from South America, USA, Mongolia etc on Rype.
They keep lying. Now they even call me fake. Lol.

I've been using Rype for nearly 2.5 years now. This is such a great experience. I tried all the other options; Rosetta Stone, Duolingo, Textbooks online. Ultimately, I need the accountability of showing up for a class that Rype provides. The teachers are incredible. It is such a special experience to talk with someone in another language around the world each day. I highly, highly recommend Rype if you are serious about learning a new language.
This app definitely has a lot of potential in the language learning realm. I am excited to see how it continues to grow and develop. The developers are very responsive to feedback making changes quickly and effectively.
I'm beta testing their new app right now and it certainly has some potential. As it is in beta stage there are still kinks to work out (like how it will not accept my pronunciation of "Christina") but that's why we are beta testing this. The app itself has promise and I look forward to using it daily when it is completed. Another thing I am pleased with is the responsiveness when I have questions or concerns. This leads me to believe we should have a solid app soon.
There's so much potential with this language app, and it is great how the developers are reaching out to initial campaign supporters to be part of the testing phase. I look forward to seeing how it evolves and improves. When I was having trouble with the app crashing when I got the speaking questions wrong multiple times, I raised this and it was addressed in later updates.
My recent experience with Rype was very good. I complained about an autopay and they agreed to refund what I no longer wanted to use. However I think the service needs to make it easier to modify/cancel its services and should send reminders about large upcoming payments. i.e. when a customer is signed up for large prepayments. Overall I have loved my teachers on Rype and strongly suggest you try as many as you like (respectfully) until you find the right fit for your personality and needs.
Working through the beta version of the upcoming Rype app has been insightful into the development process and will better enable me to understand how to use the app once it becomes available. It's exciting to see new features being added and improved upon. The team is very responsive to comments and open to accepting feedback on content and user experience.

WOW! It's horrible!!! Almost impossible to cancel/delete your subscription. It's not even immediate. The whole idea is horrible as well, they are just offering private lessons like iTalki. I wouldn't even say it's cheap.

I have used Rype for 2 years. I have both good experiences and bad experiences!
Their customer service is so so. They're not so helpful.
Their marketing and mindset are great. A lot of meaningful and motivational articles.
Their teachers: Some are really cool and awesome. I have great moments with them. Some are so so. Not all of them are native.
Their billing system is bad. They charged me a lot for no reason and refused to refund. Sometimes they charged me twice per month!!! I tried to ask why their customer support is not so good, so you know the result.
