I renewed my car insurance after receiving an excellent quote for renewing my policy. I checked my dial direct account to ensure all details were correct, and proceeded to renew. When the renewal date arrived I checked my bank account to ensure payment had gone out. It hadn’t, so I continued to check every day for the next four days. I then received an email from dial direct to say that my bank had declined payment, so an additional £20 will now be added to my premium. I phoned dial direct, I eventually got through and was told that I had to check with my bank why they had declined payment. Whilst on the phone to dial direct, I offered to pay on the phone to ensure that they got the payment. I was passed to an automated system where my bank card details were taken and was told that payment has now gone through. I then visited my bank to ask why payment was declined, they told me that the merchant (dial direct) had not requested correct information in order for my bank to release payment. I then phoned dial direct again, and spoke to a different agent who told me that payment has now gone through, they denied that there was a problem at their end. I now have to wait until 21st October to see if my payment has been processed. I doubt very much that as dial direct haven’t changed anything, how can they tell me payment has gone through. I now find myself in the middle of a discrepancy between my bank and dial direct, and I am at a loss as to how to rectify it. All I want to do is insure my car! I feel like cancelling the policy and going elsewhere but dial direct will charge me for cancelling when I haven’t done anything wrong. Not great customer service.
Extremely easy and the service via telephone was friendly and efficient.
After I finally managed to register My Acct it was generally quite easy. Dialdirect did noy accept my first password and the only way to solve this was to select 'Forgot my Password' and establish another which worked fine. My big complaint was after setting up My Acct the first time, that after I clicked Done or Next (or what ever it was) I just went to a totally blank screen and was just left hanging. An hour later I managed to get to the 'Forgot my Password' and so managed to register my acct. Not very reassuring I must say. Hopefully it will all be OK from now.

Fast, reliable service. I have used dial direct before and like that you get breakdown service with the insurance. Was glad when they can up cheaper with lots of extra.

My car was stolen on 15th July and I informed Dial Direct.
Late October the insurance paid out which was underwritten by LV. I paid August and Sept insurance premiums to Dial Direct (even though I no longer had the car) but I received a debt collection letter in Oct for a missed payment. I phoned them and explained the situation and that LV had paid out. They had no idea it was solved and are now demanding I pay the rest of the yearly premium in full which is over £400!!! I was badly under paid by LV for my car, this was a kick in the teeth. I've refused to pay.

Extremely competitive prices, much cheaper than the renewal price I'd been quoted by my current insurer. There was a problem, however, and I found it frustrating that although I'd replied to the 2 emails, I'd had no response to my emails! I therefore wanted to talk to someone, but couldn't find a number. I eventually got it sorted by using the Chat, but would've preferred to talk to resolve it.
