Extremely Poor Service for a High-End Machine in Chennai

I recently purchased one of Brother’s most expensive embroidery machines (worth over 8 lakhs), expecting the brand’s global reputation to reflect in its service standards. Unfortunately, my experience with Brother India has been deeply disappointing.

There was no proper communication about the stand I was not informed that it was a separate purchase, which created unnecessary confusion.

The technician sent to install the machine was neither professional nor trained to the standard expected of a brand like Brother. When I refused to let him leave the machine “fixed on the floor,” I was left waiting indefinitely.

Despite repeated follow-
ups, I have not received any timely support from the Chennai service team. Shockingly, it appears that the entire region of Tamil Nadu has just one technician assigned, and requests for Bangalore support were rejected citing “internal reasons.”

As an entrepreneur myself, I invested in Brother because of the assurance of after-sales service. Instead, I am left with an uninstalled machine, unanswered emails, and a growing regret about trusting this brand.

Brother may have a strong international reputation, but if this is how customers are treated in India, particularly Chennai, I would strongly caution others before making such a heavy investment.

It has never ever printed a decent page, the colours are awful, the worse printer EVER.....
I'm writing this review because i have Just replaced a new black and white cartridge, it is a brother part, which costs a fortune, and it only just manages to print light grey, and that is at a high quality print setting.
if you're looking for a printer stay clear of brother, they are lemons.

Another great Printer from Brother

Another great Printer from Brother

I've been a Brother user for years and recently found myself in a jam. I needed a cheap little printer pronto.

I'd already bought from another larger brand, which turned into a constant headache. So I bought the little mono laser LD-2400DW (US$100).

Plugged it in ... switched on my old DELL PC gave them the keys and I was up and running in 5 minutes.

Highly recommend.

Horrible Company- Avoid at all costs!

Horrible Company. Reasonably priced printers turn into terrible subscription obligation. They get you hooked in with a cheap printer, then they claim your ink wells are dry when they clearly have more ink. Then they fail to advise you when you are running out of pages to print. Disgusting practices-

Paid for next day air but didn't get it

Paid for next day air shipping on my toner. Didn't come next day so i requested a refund since if I wasn't getting it next day I would have just waiting the extra 2-3 days it usually comes within on standard shipping. Called Brother to request a refund of the next day air fee and they said they don't give refunds and that is is stated in their policies on line, not in the order process, but online somewhere. And they said that they did ship it that day so UPS had it, basically telling me it's UPS problem. The shipping cost is not the issue or that big a deal. The issue is paying $300 for two toner cartridges and they can't refund the shipping cost when it doesn't get here when they say it will, and to say they have a policy online that says they never refund shipping like I'm supposed to go look for that before I click next day on my order. I will probably go back to HP from here on out like my other 3 printers and my computers. Never have issues with them.

You'd think a company so large would replace a brand new $60 cartridge.
Jumping through lopes video after video with absolutely no satisfaction. Poor performance on your behalf. Probably sell products that I have brought through you.

P-touch labeler wastes labeling tape.

I bought a P-touch labeler. Every time I print a label, a blank inch of tape comes out that has to be cut off.
I contacted Brother about it (because I could not find how to make it stop in the manual) and they said it is in the design of the product.
So it’s a stupid design that wastes about half of your labeling tape.

Are we being Scammed?

Had a laserjet from Brother in the house for the last 4 years. Not massively heavy users but moved away from inkjet during lockdown for reliability. To be fair, it has worked very well until now, when it has started showing a "No Toner" error. Printer showing all cartridges as 40% plus full. Printer also notices if you take any of the cartridges out, so it can see the cartridges fine.

Looking on line, this seems to be a common error. I tried the stuff suggested on line to no avail, so I contacted the web chat. Went through various diagnostics but, while off verifying one of the things (are the cartridges genuine) the agent signed off by leaving a link to replace the cartridges. £330. New printer £350...

So I went back on and got a different agent. Seems it might be that the toner cartridges are too old. 38 years working and never heard that one before.

No input on finding out if one or all are not working.

"If I buy new cartridges and the printer still doesn't work, do I get a refund?"

"We can escalate that." No "yes or no".

So I could spend £300 on new toner and find out the error is actually with the printer, with no guarantee of getting the £330 back if it turns out its a problem with the printer rather than the toner cartridges.

Given how common the error seems to be you'd think they'd be adept at diagnosing the exact cause of the problem.

Maybe they're just more interested in punting consumables?

I have a Brother printer MFC-J6940DW…

I have a Brother printer MFC-J6940DW which is an absolute lemon. It eats ink, keeps printing poorly and needed you to clean points which costs you with ink. Local supplier here are no better. They called and charged me $85 for visit to look at it , print after cleaning heads only for it to go badly again within the week. They have had machine now for over a week to replace heads which they advise Brother have approved and just waiting for parts. Have the parts been sent ? Have asked and they do not know.
Absolutely a lemon. Paul NT

Worst customer service I have ever…

Worst customer service I have ever encountered. The people don't know their product, barely speak English, transfer you multiple times to other people that are just as clueless and then give you another phone number to call which has a 2 hour wait time. Their chat options wants you to give your credit card information & give them money before you can continue. The printer is great, unless you need service, then you have to junk it and get a different brand.

Stupid design flaw, terrible customer service

I wondered why these printers were so cheap. Now I know. Warning- if you purchase a Brother inkjet printer, it is set to self clean at RANDOM TIMES for some reason that cannot be prevented, worked around, reset, or set to a more convenient schedule for any reason. Our shiny new printer wakes us and our children up in the middle of the night, early in the morning, just randomly, cleaning itself. Even if we cleaned it that day. Even if we are printing regularly.
And this is how I learned their customer service is 100% useless. Despite me clearly explaining the issue over HOURS on chat and then an hour on hold on the phone, they refused to do anything but take me through their script, a series of useless troubleshooting steps, then repeated the answer easily googled online (which they could have started with): nope. We programmed it this way. Deal with it. When I asked why this couldn’t happen say, in the middle of the day, or at a time we choose, or just not while we are sleeping, the answer was, meh. Weird. And the printer search begins again.

Printer no Longer Supported by Brother

On 10/11/24 shortly after I had upgraded my Mac computer to the MACOS 15.0.1 operating system my MFC-J985DW printer/scanner could no longer be accessed using your latest version of the iPrint&Scan app that I downloaded from the Apple App Store. I went to the download section of your website to see if Brother had an updated driver for that Mac operating system and there was no update. I then called support twice to seek assistance with restoring access to my Brother printer using my computer. The first call lasted 1 hour, 14 minutes and 42 seconds. The person I spoke with had absolutely no idea how to help me and it was obvious from the conversation he was either talking to another person in technical support or using a messaging app to attempt to get assistance. The entire conversation and the steps I performed on my computer were an absolute waste of time and he eventually hung up on me. I tried subsequently to find the information I was seeking by searching on the Internet. After approximately 2 hours of searching the Internet and finding no solution, I decided to call customer support again. The second time the female person I spoke with had such an accent it was impossible to understand her, so I interrupted her and told her I need some specific answers. I asked her to ascertain if Brother had a driver update for MACOS 15.0.1 or 15.0. Again she apparently either spoke with or used your internal messaging system to ask, I guess, someone in technical support if there was a driver. She told me there was none. I then asked her if Brother would be releasing an updated driver in the future. She again spoke/messaged to seek assistance for someone in technical support. She said that Brother would not be releasing an updated driver in the future.

Atrocious customer support

Atrocious customer support. I’m pleased with the printer I bought. My WiFi modem was switched and I learned I needed to uninstall and reinstall it. I learned this NOT from BROTHER customer support because they don’t offer any. I’ve been told 7 different times that someone would call me back. NEVER happened, not once. I guess they only sell things but have no concern for the people who pay for them. Unprofessional, cheap and shameful business practice. When I need a new printer, I’ll choose a different company that gives a care about supporting their customers.

I owned a Brother MJC J1205W All in one…

I owned a Brother MJC J1205W All in one printer for 4 years. I paid, on time, every month, $10.86 for the ink subscription. I received one black ink cartridge during that time. Honestly, the ink cartridges last a longer time than if you buy them separately. However, my color cartridges' ran out and I had not received the new ones which were supposed to arrive before the old one emptied. I sent them a message letting them know and was told that their look into my machine showed I had 57% ink left in the color. I offered to take a video and scan in the pages that came out showing the lack of color and just lines. They said they couldn't do anything about that because they showed 57%. So I basically gave them over $500 for one black cartridge and to have a printer that I cannot use. They claim that the ink is based on the number of pages you print. So if you are printing high color resolution pages your ink will run out thus rendering your printer useless until you can print more pages. This is a total rip-off. I purchased a different brand, with ink that I can control and cancelled the Brother which again is totally useless to me now.
