I wondered why these printers were so cheap. Now I know. Warning- if you purchase a Brother inkjet printer, it is set to self clean at RANDOM TIMES for some reason that cannot be prevented, worked around, reset, or set to a more convenient schedule for any reason. Our shiny new printer wakes us and our children up in the middle of the night, early in the morning, just randomly, cleaning itself. Even if we cleaned it that day. Even if we are printing regularly.
And this is how I learned their customer service is 100% useless. Despite me clearly explaining the issue over HOURS on chat and then an hour on hold on the phone, they refused to do anything but take me through their script, a series of useless troubleshooting steps, then repeated the answer easily googled online (which they could have started with): nope.
