Recently bought the Birdlip 4x6 greenhouse, I constructed it myself which was quite a lot of work. The end result is a great looking greenhouse with a spacious high eaves interior and strong aluminium frame. I am very pleased with it, it is a quality product. I am enjoying it every day!

So, as all the other reviews have said, this has the worst build instructions I have ever experienced!
I’m a joiner to trade, I’ve built a lot of bespoke items, I have also build my fair share of flat pack items. I was quietly confident this would be easier than the other reviews had read. Absolutely not!! The instruction are terrible at best, not clear.
Thankfully with a bit of construction savvy I haven’t had to trace back and change any of the build, however, I have had do down tools in absolute annoyance on a couple of occasions. My wife and I have also fallen out as a result and it was supposed to be a nice birthday present.
When we opened the glass there was 16 panes smashed, we can only assume it was from the terrible attitude of the driver who delivered it. He swore at my wife and was very rude.
Anyway, I found the customer service to be really good. I asked for replaced panes and they couriered them to me in 2 days.
I think the green house feels really sturdy and I’m pleased with it so far, next weekend I’ll get it all glazed and hopefully reep the reward.

If you are not in the trade and not familiar with complicated DIY, I’d suggest this is not for you.

Although once we , finally , got this together it’s a quality product, the instructions are absolutely awful.very poor illustrations and there are no written instructions at all.I cannot begin to tell you how many times we had to disassemble this as it was not clear on which way up things went. The bolts are of poor quality, several snapping upon tightening. Luckily, this is big enough for me, because I would NEVER purchase from this company again. Such a shame , as once you have managed to decipher the sketchy instructions it is a quality product. I also tried several times to access the online instructions as I was hoping these may be more instructive, but was unable to access.

I very rarely feel the need to write a review but in this instance I feel compelled.

Avoid this company at all costs.

Their products come with the worst instruction manuals you could possible imagine. Half of the parts don't come numbered. The boxes of glass of which there were 10+ for my greenhouse didn't come numbered and it was near impossible to tell what glass is in each box so as a result I had to open them all which mean there was glass all over the place. Amazing we didn't have any breakages.

One door runner came broken. Customer service are at least replacing that.

The customer service lady was highly patronising on the phone, when I mentioned they need to sort out the window as the tolerances are to low so if you have a tiny error in the construction then the auto vents wont work for you as the window wont close properly. The irony is if they provided decent instructions then the chances of their being errors would have been reduced.

Avoid at all costs a once great company are now on the race to the bottom with old, badly printed instructions which don't make sense any more. This coupled with cheap materials, it will cost you a lot more to get it fixed.

Well this review will start on delivery.

The greenhouse was scheduled to arrive at 10 o’clock on Friday however Tuesday morning 8:15 in the morning just leaving for work. A lorry turns up with a greenhouse. My father is 92 and was left with me to our own devices to move the greenhouse to the required location.

The delivery driver could not be more of a hindrance. All he could say it’s not my job to move it. I just deliver it. Would you like me to take it back.

Construction.

It would’ve been helpful if the greenhouse come and was provided with readable legible, sensible, concise instructions, I have never ever seen such poor instructions, badly written photographed in my life.

Construction process.

It totally amazed me and my partner. The amount of times we had to dismantle the greenhouse to rectify poor instructions , it took us three weeks to construct the greenhouse from start to finish and we’re not daft

Glass.

During installation all the panes of glass fitted to a point. However, I’m picking up one large pane which was a side panel. The glass exploded and shattered. This resulted in my father, having to spend out money to have another large piece of tempered glass manufactured .

Door fitting.

The provided instructions and provided videos online or totally inadequate to allow ease of fitting and construction of sliding doors. The greenhouse is now finished. However mastic is required to varnish. All leaks from the gutters gutter stops are missing and the second gutter connection is missing .

One totally dissatisfied customer and when you do call the helpline all you get is an engaged signal all day.

I wish I had read the many many reviews which detail the defects.
The instructions are very bad with errors and are difficult to follow. They need to improve them, but from my experience of the company they probably won’t bother. I am good at DIY and it took me days to build it.
It leaks very badly, so badly, in fact water gets in through the base corner joints, large gaps at the joints in the gable, bolt fixing points, surplus holes in the sides etc. When I asked why there were holes at the joints in the gable, Halls said “the design has been like that for decades”. There are about 34 leaks in total. When I enquired as to the reason, I was told that it is quite common for “hobbiest entry level greenhouses” not to be waterproof. The marketing on the website does not say it is a “hobbiest entry level Greenhouse”. The website states that it is “ideal for all gardeners from novice to expert. Excellent build quality” An expert would not accept a badly leaking greenhouse let alone a novice. Furthermore, to describe it as “Excellent build quality” is a misrepresentation.
They suggested I use silicone to stop it leaking. However, the website doesn’t say anything about the need to use silicone and nor do the instructions. I spent days dismantling it and rebuilding using expensive top quality sealant to try to stop it leaking without success because it is such bad quality.
I bought it to replace a smaller Crittall greenhouse which I had for over 20 years and which they would also class as a “hobbiest entry level” type. In fact, it was remarkably similar in construction and it never leaked!
Halls do not deserve to be in business and I really wish I had never bought it.

After a long wait the greenhouse arrived on a large lorry, the gent unloaded it at the pathment and left leaving me to try to move it all to my front harden less than 10 feet away! Ob building the greenhouse with supplied instructions was impossible, ended up finding YouTube videos for a different greenhouse brand to follow to build it! Door runners that came with the greenhouse were pointless cheap rubbish that lost all the ball bearings on install so had to buy replacements without exposed ball bearings at my own expense, glass was easy to install but windows didn't line up with the window frame, I had to bend the frame to shape to fit properly, but strong and sturdy once built

During assembly the parts seemed flimsy, however once fully constructed, the greenhouse is solid as a rock. The precision of the parts is bang on. I opted for the green paint, steel base and toughened glass and would recommend all of these. Only two minor issues let this down a bit: (1) - I had to drill two holes in one of the aluminium parts (where these had been missed in production). (2) - The instructions are really bad, but there are some videos on the web that were very helpful. On the whole, a great greenhouse for the money and I would recommend this product as long as you are prepared to spend about 3-4 full days building it (including ground work) as I did.

We purchased a green, popular, 8x6 greenhouse with toughened glass. Printed instructions were pretty awful but combined with online instructions and videos, barring the odd mis-assembley, we were able to complete build fairly easily. Phoned help line 3/4 times and responders were friendly & very helpful & emailed pictures of the auto vent and quickly arranged for 1 replacement pane of glass to be dispatched. A proper printed manual would have scored 5 stars all round. Very pleased with the final greenhouse.

Lost one star for the instructions, they aren't clear, but we did find a video that helped with construction. The instructions were very unclear on the door construction and it ended up with 2 smashed door panels, we called them up and they had a lovely lady working customer service who helped us out and advised us on everything and got the panels replaced for us. Really happy with customer service and our greenhouse looks great and is great quality! They just need to put some time and effort into creating better instructions that are much more clear to avoid issues

I have just finished building a Halls Magnum 12x8. It looks generally ok, but as stated by others, the instructions are truly dreadful. I built and dismantled, and built again, several sections because the photos in particular were impossible to understand. The design once built seems good but the opening roof windows are unfit for purpose. The screws provided are too short, and the rubber seal way to large for practical assembly. It has taken over three weeks in total to assemble!

Delivery time was long and when the guy turned up at 7.50 am I was out with the dog as delivery time was between 8 and 12. I was back before 8am. When I pointed that out he was aggressive and shouted repeatedly 'estimated time'. He refused to take a heavier thing up the garden stairs for me (I'm disabled) and told me it wasn't his job.
I went to take a photo of where he had left the item, and he shouted 'take a photo of me if you want'. I wasn't.
Overall aggressive, loud and intimidating for a woman living alone with a disability.

They could sell it without the instructions because they are of no use!!!

The Greenhouse I bought from Halls leaks at all four corners so I have to seal those. Instructions for construction were dire - enough people have complained, when are the Juliana group going to rectify this? The door seal constantly falls out so I'm going to have to glue that in! Oh, and the door is rubbish - husband has mended it twice! I wouldn't buy another that's for sure.

Bought a Halls magnum 14x8, delivered within 2 weeks, no missing parts and no damage. Took 2 men 2 days to build and instructions could be improved a lot. Very happy with outcome, price and overall value. A lot cheaper than other brands. I’d highly recommend anyone looking for a greenhouse to Halls.

The end result is superb! I have a lovely 8' x 6' Supreme greenhouse .... BUT it sat in my garden for 10 months at various stages of construction. Several friends had sessions with me trying to figure out the instructions and how to make progress with it. I had a quite a few phone calls to Halls. Each time the staff were very helpful. But the printed instructions are diabolical!!! The photos and diagrams are unclear and very hard to interpret. Sometimes my model actually differed from the instructions (as parts wouldn't fit in the way they suggested). If I had known what it would be like to construct I would never have attempted it. I am still amazed we did it in the end.

Purchased 6x6 popular greenhouse on 24/03/23. which was finally delivered on 27/04/23. After erecting using very poor instructions etc I then find I am short of rubber glazing sealant and notify Halls (01/05/23)who send some pieces of the rubber but it’s insufficient as I’ve eight more glazing panes to install so I email Halls yet again requesting about 6 meters!
I’m still waiting six days later and no reply to my email!
It’s very frustrating not to mention annoying to have to wait for something so essential to a greenhouse to finally enjoy using it. Not impressed with the service but the greenhouse is good quality when ALL ITS PARTS ARE HERE🙄

Ordered a greenhouse, they moved the delivery date 4 times getting further and further away until I eventually cancelled the order. When i did so they miraculously found a quick delivery but by then the trust was gone, wouldn't recommend

Wish I could award these jokers a minus star!!! So apparently, the company didnt realise that one of their drivers hasnt turned up for work this morning so therefore I wont get my greenhouse today and wont get it till the end of next week!! Obviously a bulls**t story. At least try and come up with a better lie than that. Halls customer service is an absolute joke as well who couldnt care less to be honest. Wasted a days leave for these jokers!!
