Thermostat X works really well with the Apple HomePod Mini, makes no sound when adjusting temp and love the usb-c rechargeable battery. The app works, but I don’t use any features since it’s mostly... See more

Dishonest, misleading and greedy company
Dishonest, misleading and greedy company. Pushes their new Tado X line with a lot of discounts for people to buy it and then force them to pay for memberships by putting functions behind paywall. Scummy business practices. Avoid at ALL cost
Subscription trap | AVOID |
Even the most basic functionality (heating) is behind the paywall. Avoid unless you wanna pay 4eur (and the god knows how much in the future) per month for the eternity.
Lucky I canceled my order!!! Subscription trap
Lucky I managed to cancel my order for Tado products. Many functions are behind a subscription.. price goes up.. more functions behind paywall.
My advice find another brand

Customer service is awful and the company is now on a really bad path.
Forced change from Nest
Forced change from Nest. Nothing on documentation in advanced highlighted that there would be a subscription for even accessing basic history, like yesterday.
Thermostat Reset
I purchased a Smart thermostat and Radiator Valves in late 2022 and only just got around to fitting it this month.
We found an issue with the Smart Thermostat.
I emailed Tado and within an hour they had remoted in and fixed the problem.
Excellent service

Basic features now locked behind paywall, do not buy.
I would not recommend you purchase the tado X products, or anything from tado!
I spent a considerable amount of time researching and money on a whole system of tado thermostat and radiators valves only for them to be useless without the subscription. The ability for the smart thermostat to call heat from the boiler is now behind a paywall, this is the simplest function of a smart TRV. When I was researching this was not the case and tado have seemingly changed policy between me researching an installing the system.
I understand some premium features would sit behind a paywall (and was considering paying for this) but the most basic functionality makes the products redundant. Save your money and go elsewhere!!
Rip Off. Why is the offer by Tado more expensive…
Why is the offer by Tado more expensive than buying it direct from almost anywhere else eg Screwfix . This does not seem to repay loyalty when trading in a Nest 2nd Gen thermostat as your sales pitch suggests . Its bad enough having to replace our perfectly funcional Nest due to removal of the app support but then to be ripped off by this misleading deal adds insult to injury .
Product works as advertised
Product works as advertised. Using much less gas than with previous timer. Very easy to set up and manage. Time blocks can be set up to suit the house. Thermostat can be placed as desired. Have it in living room for the evening and bring to bedroom for the morning time blocks to ensure bathroom is warm for showering.
Untrustworthy company
Untrustworthy company that deceives its customers. I wish I'd never bought into their ecosystem.
Tado have placed the core functionality of its smart radiator valves behind a paywall. If you bought these expecting to be able to control each room individually, you can forget it - without a subscription. This basically turns them into the dumb thermostats that you presumably bought them to replace. At least they have pretty screens if you ever feel like getting down on your knees and playing with them.
While this (for now) doesn't apply to existing customers (qualifying details unknown), who can say what will happen in the future? Tado haven't spoken publicly about this change. The subscription requirement is buried deep in their product descriptions and very easily overlooked. If you think this sounds intentionally misleading, who can blame you?
Want to talk to customer services about it? Good luck. Tado recently closed its support forum. Maybe call them? Not a chance. They closed down their telephone lines too. Email? They don't have a support email address, so out of luck with that one too. So what does that leave? Well you'll have to wrestle your way past their obstructive AI chatbot until it grudgingly agrees to forward your query to a human. Think it sounds like they don't want to interact with their customers and would rather you just went away, stopped bothering them, and paid your subscription? Does sound that way doesn't it?
Shall we talk about set-up and Google Home integration? Set-up was a nightmare. These devices flat-out refused to see my wifi network. I tried using WPA and setting up manually - no joy. The network wasn't even listed. And then some hours later it magically worked. Go figure.
Similarly, after commissioning the devices into Google Home (apparently successfully) they appeared permanently off-line. Support told me this was because I didn't have as Google edge border router. No mention of that requirement in the marketing or product pages - just "Works with Google Home". They basically blamed Google and weren't interested.
A day or two later - that Tado magic again! The devices appeared in Google Home - without the Google edge border router that Tado had told me I'd need to spend hundreds of pounds on. I asked them about this: "Google must have changed something." Sound to you like they don't know how their own products work? Sound to you like they're happy to slap a marketing logo for Google Home onto their products without being certain they'll function or taking any responsibility if they don't - despite the fact that this is probably a key feature for many people? Definitely looks that way.
Not to be trusted. Avoid.
Deceptive, controlling radiator heating individually now requires a subscription
I installed the Tado X system in my home a month ago. The installation process was pretty straightforward, and the quality of the hardware seems ok. The white matte radiator valves get dirty easily, and the plastic adaptors are very flimsy and can easily break off the radiator valve.
I bought this system (like many users) to make my heating room-controlled beyond one central thermostat. This was marketed on their website and support pages as a main (and free) feature, but in the last few days, they started putting radiator "zone control" behind a paywall for recent users, and they (poorly) updated their website and documentation to talk about this change. Now it requires an "AI" subscription for any Tado radiator to call for heat from the central boiler.
I was pretty content with Tado until this point, and I have no problem paying for a subscription to get additional enhancements beyond basic smart room heating. Like originally advertised in their "AI subscription" to adjust your heating based on the weather and geofencing.
I understand that additional server-based features require costs for storage and compute, but these changes affected my local communicating hardware, essentially converting my €700 Tado investment into a much cheaper regular central thermostat overnight. The way they seem to roll this out quietly to new users feels pretty deceptive. It does not make me feel good about further investments and recommendations of the Tado system. Apparently, they don't have any problems putting basic smart radiator workings behind a paywall overnight, so this is not a good sign of things to come.
SWERVE AROUND THE TADO X I-TRVs AS THEY ARE VERY FLIMSY. GREAT TECH, WORK WELL, BUT NOT VERY ROBUST. THEREFORE NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE
I have found TADO X to be a brilliant product.
However, there is A MAJOR DURABILITY DESIGN FLAW.
The TADO X I-TRV attaches to your existing valve base either directly or with the use of an adaptor.
I installed 8 of these devices and found that the one on my small bedroom radiator was giving a fault. Why?
The collet / shroud at the bottom of the TADO X I-TRV which the outer ring (nut) uses to grip against upon installation is made of a brittle plastic and is part of the TADO X I-TRV lower body made of the same brittle plastic.
TADO claim their plastics are made from largely recycled plastics however this plastic is SO VERY BRITTLE it will lead to more recycling!
Given that TRVs are normally close to the floor a simple knock e.g. by a vacuum cleaner or when putting up a clothes maiden (airer) or an inadvertent tap may well cause the collet pieces to shatter. The TADO X I-TRV valve head will then become faulty as when the piston from the radiator valve base moves up or down the TADO I-TRV X valve head will disconnect.
I wrote to TADO about this and got a 'standard'/bot produced general answer about mounting a TADO X I-TRV on an existing TRV base.
This reply I really believe was not even read and certainly had nothing to do with a flawed design issue.
For the PREMIUM PRICE of these products (especially outside of Germany) these products should function well AND be robust.

Highly Unreliable and Frustrating Customer Support
I installed tado° X to replace my old HIVE, and it’s been a complete disaster. The heating works for a few days, then stops responding to the radiator valves—only the “boost” works. The app and receiver lie, showing heating is on while the boiler does nothing. Troubleshooting is not what you would expect, and in the end, for Tado it is always about calling in an engineer, even though you know it’s a problem with their tado° X receiver (which you can't return after 30 days so they take their time to get back to you). Customer support is a total joke: you have to fill out endless forms, provide serial numbers, and then wait for an email. Even their “emergency” contact is useless. Unreliable system, terrible support—tado° X is nothing but hype, and you absolutely get what you pay for... just for the record this is what they tell you after you submit an emergency support ticket :"Message sent!
After investigating the information you provided, our Customer Support team will contact you via email.
This chat will now close"... now yo can wait for days hoping they will reply to you... funny fact yo can return the item you purchased within 30 days... good luck trying to get in touch with them organizing the returns...

Amazing remote support from Tado
I had some trouble setting up my Tado V3+ wireless heating - hot water controller when I moved house. The old place had a combi boiler with hot water on demand. Whereas the new place also had a hot water tank, so needed a separate control zone for the hot water in addition to the heating. The assistant at Tado (Petra) remotely pushed the new app configuration with the new heating zone onto my phone and the hot water system immediately started working. To say I am impressed is an understatement!

It's a pleasure to deal with this company. When I had trouble with my controller there was no issue from them and a replacement was sent to me.
Good value for money
Good value for money, very easy to set up and control from your phone
Easy installation

No right to repair
I’ve been using Tado products for years.
Recently, one of my radiator thermostats stopped working completely, and I’d much prefer to have it repaired rather than spend more money on a new one.
After spending over 30 minutes on the website, I couldn’t find any customer service support to help with this issue.
I find it quite unfair that a product stops working just after a year, leaving customers with no option but to buy a replacement.
Filling the earth with products designed to fail shortly after the warranty period and replacing them with newer models isn’t an ethical approach. It also undermines the idea of sustainability and efficiency/saving that Tado promotes leading to a negative return on investment for customers.
