Professional and managed my expections

From the moment I found Sunil online, he was extremely professional and transparent. I had already spoken with several other firms, but many seemed to make unrealistic promises while charging high fees. Given the nature of my offence, I knew avoiding the consequences completely was unlikely, so it worried me that others claimed they could guarantee a 100% positive outcome.

This is what set Sunil apart — he managed my expectations from the start and was completely honest with me throughout. Before the court date, we met and went through every detail of my case thoroughly. In court, Sunil was outstanding — he presented a strong, confident defence and truly commanded the room.

Although I did receive a driving ban, thanks to Sunil’s help, the outcome was far better than expected. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for fair, honest, and professional legal representation.

In many cases it is not in the client's interest to contest a case even if a period of obligatory disqualification would follow upon a 'Guilty' plea. The client's interests lie in understanding, realistically, what his or her chances are of a 'Not Guilty' verdict if the case is contested. Even the strongest cases can be challenged in court. However, this is likely to dramatically increase legal and other costs (such as the time it takes to finish a case, the number of hearings necessary, and the overall stress involved). Therefore, an initial assessment should be made as to whether, realistically, there is a good chance of 'winning' the case. If the reality is the chance is minimal the client should be told this at the outset. I find clients, such as yourself, appreciate this approach. Thank you for your review.

Drink Drving

My husband was arrested for dink driving first offence after a clean license, we didn't know which way to turn, we looked up representation and came across Kent traffic law, we called and within an hour Sunil called back and my husband had a free 45 minute call where all circumstances of the arrest were discussed, he advised as my husband was three times over the limit it was a serious offence and he would realistically be looking at a minimum of
2 and a 1/2 years ban, fine and community service. When we looked around and saw Sunil was a barrister and wanted the best to face as small a ban as possible so my husband wouldn't loose his job, I checked the barristers register and all was fine full member and listed. We were advised of the price and told we would meet in a hotel reception area 20 minutes from home, as an overly cautious person I felt slightly unsure of handing over the money before meeting Sunil, but I was so very wrong as Sunil arrived early and he controlled the meeting by asking all necessary relevant questions advising us when we cut in with irrelevant information, he explained the judge doesn't know my husband and needed a brief ideas of his life and commitments, he explained he was building a picture of my husband and the situation to give him the best outcome he could, on court day we were advised by Sunil he would arrive early and speak with the prosecution and probation officer as my husband had a serious motorbike accident in the past and finds it painful to do physical activities or stand for long we then had the opportunity to see the probation officer before we entered court and she suggested an alcohol tag as my husband had admitted alcohol was a problem in his life. We had already been attending AA from the day he got arrested so that was a perfect option for us, thus without increasing his fine it just reiterated his commitment to attending AA. Sunil spoke to the court about my husband his good character, his clean license, his distance to work, travel time, length of employment even going back to saying he left schoolband went straight into a job, factors i would not have thought about mentioning, but Sunil really knew the questions to ask us that were relevant making us more relaxed and confident in his ability. never advising the court of what he wanted just suggesting it was the courts decision but,if the court could please bear in mind all the previous factors and the impact on how he would be affected by his sentence. Sunil stuck to all relevant facts and when the court came back after 10 minutes they advised they were issuing a 12 month ban YES 12 MONTHS BAN which could be reduced to 9 MONTHS ban if the TTC course was completed. ( not available for everyone only if the court thinks its suitable, again Sunil suggested the course may be an option but thankfully the court agreed. My husband was given the alcohol tag for 4 months and a fine and costs of less than £800 total. WHAT A RESULT!!!!!! Trust this guy he really is the BEST.

You have kindly set out a fairly full and accurate account of what transpires when my services are engaged. Firstly, I take the time to ensure that I understand the caller’s situation. I give ‘provisional guidance’ not legal advice during that call. If it is clear that I can help I quote fixed fees. We meet in order for me to take detailed instructions from the client both as to the offence and as to his or her background. (I have recently learned that some solicitors’ firms take instructions by questionnaire! Others have a telephone or virtual meeting. I consider that there is no substitute for an in-person meeting). At the meeting I give formal legal advice as to the range of sentencing options. I also advise the client at this stage if any steps should be taken prior to the hearing date in order to improve sentencing prospects.

On the day of the hearing I personally attend to represent the client. (However, solicitors make prolific use of agents, such as junior barristers or local solicitors, to represent their clients so that, frequently, clients are represented by lawyers they have not met before. I consider this unsatisfactory. This is why I attend personally). I usually arrange with the client to meet at court early in order to answer any last minute questions and to ensure that we are completely ready for the hearing.

As a senior barrister I have decades of experience of oral advocacy. I use that experience to present the most persuasive plea of mitigation to ensure that the client receives the best outcome his or her circumstances will allow. In your husband’s case he had very good mitigation which the court accepted in full. It is very unusual for the court to depart from the sentencing guidelines but in this case they did just that! This is why the court felt able to literally give the shortest disqualification allowed by law. I was really pleased for him as this gives your husband the best chance of retaining his employment.

In so far as fixed date court cases, such as this one, are concerned I only take the case if I can see it through personally from start to finish as I believe this gives the client the best chance of the most favourable outcome. There are no guarantees but, fortunately, this is what happened in your husband’s case.

Thank you very much for your review.

New driver. 6pp avoided!

I can’t thank and recommend Sunil at Kent traffic law enough. I was at risk of having my license revoked due to being a new driver and still within 2 years of getting my license. After first speaking with Sunil and explaining my situation to him I knew that he was the one to help me avoid losing my license in. After attending court I was given a 14 day driving ban and a slight fine which if it wasn’t for Sunil’s hard work and effort wouldn’t have been possible. If you are ever in a position in which your licence could be revoked or lost I highly recommend giving Sunil a call to help you try and get the best outcome possible.

Many New Drivers find themselves in the same position as you ie they have fallen foul of the road traffic laws and find themselves facing conviction for an offence which would normally result in the endorsement of 6 penalty points and the revocation of their driving licences. Such situations can be very troubling as loss of licence often means loss of job. Depending on the individual circumstances it might be feasible to seek to persuade the court to impose an immediate but short disqualification instead of endorsing penalty points. Often a short ban means a motorist can keep his job. In your case we met for me to take full instructions. I then advised you on steps to take in advance of your hearing date. At court yesterday the court considered our submissions before acceding to the defence request to impose a short ban. We were all taken by surprise that it was so short but, clearly, in this case the court was fully convinced of the merit of our case. I am glad you were pleased with the outcome. Thank you for posting your review.

A really good experience

Having made the mistake of picking my phone up while driving, I contacted Sunil for help. Sunil was great from start to finish. He explained everything to me clearly and was realistic and honest in what our position was. As a new driver I was faced with the possibility of having my license revoked which would have been disastrous, but with Sunil's help and by following his recommendations I was able to avoid that and instead received a short driving ban. Yours was a brief and innocent driver's error. Yet, with the standard penalty for a mobile phone offence being 6 penalty points and a fine you faced, as a new driver, the probability that your driving licence would be revoked. Given that the waiting lists for taking repeat tests are at an all-time record length this could have meant that you would be without a licence for anything from several months to a year. As you cannot afford to do without your driving licence for any protracted period of time we needed to persuade the court that, in your particular circumstances, this would have been wholly unjust and invite them to consider an alternative way of sentencing you. In order to build your case we met face-to-face for me to take full instructions and to advise you upon the steps you needed to take to improve your prospects of a successful outcome. In your case this meant trying to persuade the court to disqualify you from driving immediately but for a relatively short period. In the end the careful preparation paid off as the court fully accepted all of the defence mitigation and disqualified you from driving for only 7 days! This was the ideal outcome from the Defence perspective given that the sentencing guidelines mean that ordinarily a new driver's licence would be revoked. I am pleased you received this outcome. Thank you for your review.

Statutory Declaration

On finding out my sons driving licence had been used in identity theft and him getting points we decided to find someone that could represent him in court. After phoning around I left a message at Kent traffic law, a few days later Sunil called we had many conversations and we decided he was the one we wanted to take to court with us.
On meeting Sunil at court and him explaining everything throughout the process we are very glad we did. He was able to speak to people we couldn't and alot of the cases that afternoon got adjourned lucky ours didn't I believe it is because of him.
We felt at ease and got a very good outcome. I would highly recommend you contact and take Sunil with you because it's worth every penny. I will be keeping his number that's for sure.

When you rang you explained your son's situation and I suggested to you that you should consider dealing with this matter alone as the court clerks are usually very helpful to unrepresented Defendants in such situations explaining to them how to make an oath to re-open a case. Of course, then you would have avoided incurring legal fees. However, having considered my suggestion your son nevertheless engaged me to meet you all at court to try to help in any way I could. The case was listed at 2pm. When we met, over the lunch hour, your case was explained to me. As counsel I slipped into court before the first afternoon case was called on and spoke with the court clerk and the prosecutor. I explained to the prosecutor that your son's identity had been used by a fraudster and that the relevant conviction was unjust. She accepted this explanation and advised all of the steps that your son should take once the case was re-opened. When the case was called on the court clerk surprisingly intervened to challenge the fact that the statutory declaration had not been served within the statutory time limit ie within 21 days of finding out about the erroneous conviction. This seemed an unusual intervention from the court clerk but I was then able to step in and persuade the court to extend the deadline. Fortunately, the matter was re-opened and adjourned. Your son now has 6 months to email the list of information that I had discussed with the prosecutor (which I had set out to you in a conference after the conclusion of the case.) We now expect that the likely outcome is that the cps will drop the case before the next hearing date and so advise your son so that he neither needs to attend again nor incur any more legal fees. As a bonus, they heard our case even though most of the afternoon cases were to be adjourned to another date (as they had run out of court time. It may not be fair but sometimes represented Defendants are given more consideration than those who do not incur legal fees when their case is adjourned!) So, all in all, there was plenty for me to do notwithstanding that ordinarily I will always advise Defendants that it is not 'necessary' for them to obtain legal representation when appearing to make a statutory declaration in order to have a case re-opened. Thank you for your review.

I was caught speeding going over 100mph and was after representation.

After finding Kent Traffic law and reading the reviews I phoned up and spoke with Sunil.
He was very professional and I decided to go ahead with him.

I followed all of Sunils advice and guidance through the court process and ultimately I kept my licence and I can’t recommend him enough. He was brilliant throughout the process and answered any questions I had and ultimately got me the result I needed.

Once you are speeding at over 100mph then, depending upon all the circumstances of the case, it can be very difficult to avoid disqualification. The court takes into account a range of factors and, of particular concern to them, would have been your age and the margin by which you were exceeding 100 mph. However, as your business depended upon retaining your licence you engaged me for a meeting to advise you. You took all of the steps that I advocated in advance of your hearing. On the day in court we were very well prepared. As you saw, however, the issue was on a knife-edge. However, after retiring to consider the matter the court decided to simply endorse 6 points and order you to pay a fine. You were thrilled with this outcome as it meant disaster for your business had been avoided. Thank you for your review.

You get what you pay for

Kent Traffic Law assisted me twice recently on a related matter. Each time it has been money well spent. Firstly by providing a pre prepared statement after giving me sound advice in meetings, which certainly got my very serious charges reduced and secondly when the case eventually went to court and I got to witness Sunil representing me and he once again was able to get me the best possible outcome considering the circumstances. In each of my dealings with him he has been highly professional, diligent and knowlegeable. He spent time speaking in layman's terms so I understood the options and and probabilities and delivered the best possible outcome. I would not hesitate to use his services again if he was available and could help.

You first contacted me at a very early stage in the investigation which meant that I was able to take full instructions from you and then advise you how to deal with your forthcoming voluntary police interview. In your case it was decided that I should help you to prepare a 'pre-prepared statement' that you could take with you to the interview setting out the most important aspects of your account clearly and concisely and in a way which best protected your interests. Many people don't contact me until after they have been interviewed by which time they have often already badly damaged their own interests. In your case this meant that you were off to a good start. So, by the time the case came to court you were already in a far superior position than you otherwise would have been in. This enabled us to build upon the foundation you had laid in interview. Thus you were able to secure the best possible result in court. Thank you for your review.

After speeding at over 90Mph, i needed the help of Sunil Rupasinha. not only did he guide me through the process of how the law works, he explained very clearly step by step the documentation that needed completing.
After pleading guilty to the offence i was delighted to receive just 6 points and a fine. Overall 10/10 and a big thank you.

Of course, the severity of the penalty depends on the extent by which the speed limit was exceeded in each case. In your case, you had received a Single Justice Procedure Notice and were hoping to avoid being required to attend court for consideration of disqualification. The only way to avoid the risk of a ban is by avoiding being called to court. With this in mind we met and I drafted a suggested written mitigation submission based upon your instructions to me about your case and about your personal background. Fortunately, it worked; the written submission was accepted at face value and you avoided the costs and stress of being called to court and avoided a ban too! The desired outcome. Thank you for posting your review.

You were extremely fortunate to avoid a minimum 6 month ban as I advised you from the outset that we would need to be very lucky indeed to be successful in court. However, we prepared your case in advance and I advised you on the court procedure and the way in which you would most probably be questioned in court. This meant that you were not taken by surprise by the questions and knew how best to respond. In the end, the Bromley Magistrates were lenient with you but I find that the better cases are prepared the greater the chances of a sympathetic outcome! Thank you for your review.

Magistrate ruling overturned in Crown Court

I am incredibly grateful to Mr. Sunil Rupasinha and Kent Traffic Law for their exceptional service. I was facing a serious injustice after being wrongly convicted of a mobile phone offense in the magistrate court.

The officer's account was inconsistent, and the bodycam footage actually supported my claim of using hands-free earbuds. Despite this, I was unfairly penalized with 6 points and a £1600 fine. After seeing the many positive reviews from other clients, I decided to instruct Mr. Rupasinha directly. This was the best decision I could have made. He expertly handled my appeal in the crown court, and I am so relieved that he successfully overturned the original, unjust ruling.Mr. Rupasinha's expertise and dedication were evident throughout the process. I highly recommend Kent Traffic Law to anyone facing unfair traffic charges. Their professionalism and effectiveness are truly outstanding.

It is not uncommon for motorists to represent themselves in the Magistrates’ Court after seeking informal advice or conducting their own research. However, the experience can often prove disheartening when their evidence is rejected particularly in cases where the testimony of a police officer is preferred. Experience has taught me how difficult it can be to succeed in such circumstances.

Following your conviction, you sought my advice to assess the legal and evidential merits of your case. We met in conference, where we examined the material in detail. Although your appeal faced considerable challenges — particularly given the reliance upon eyewitness evidence from a police officer — you resolved to proceed.

At the Crown Court hearing, despite the prosecution being represented by a barrister, the appeal succeeded and your clean driving licence has been restored to you. I commend your determination in pursuing the matter and, while the process inevitably involved expense, your judgement was fully vindicated. Thank you for your kind and considered review.

Highly recommended

Sunil was employed to represent my drug driving case. From the start he was honest and realistic about the outcomes. Initially we had a free 30-40minute chat on the phone, followed up by an in person meeting before the trial. This meant we could discuss what evidence he was going to use and that he knew the full story. On the court day he arrived earlier so that he could brief me and speak to the prosecutor. The outcome was far better than we could have ever predicted and this was down to his diligence and hard work. He is highly experienced in this field of motor law and I could not have done this without him. I would highly recommend him and his services and if you’re unsure then just speak to him first, with no obligation.

I take the same measured approach to almost every case. At the outset I offer an initial telephone consultation—free of charge for up to 20-30 minutes—to assess whether I can assist, provide my preliminary advice, and offer a fixed-fee quote tailored to the case. Unlike a salesperson handling initial enquiries, this direct conversation ensures a thorough understanding from the start. (I do not 'sugar-coat' the client's prospects but adopt a frank approach which I believe to be in the client's best interests.)

Following this, if the client wishes to proceed I almost always meet clients face to face to take full instructions, provide detailed legal advice, and review the prosecution’s case where applicable. Finally, I personally represent my client in court, ensuring continuity of advice and advocacy from beginning to end. This approach maximises our chances of securing the best possible outcome.
I am pleased that this process led to a highly favourable result in your case.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review—it is appreciated.

Drink Driving

My son was charged with drink driving, and after reading the excellent reviews for Kent Traffic Law, I decided to contact Sunil. From our initial phone conversation to the face-to-face meeting with my son, Sunil was incredibly thorough. He asked detailed questions, carefully noting even the smallest details.

In court, his summary was clear and persuasive, outlining the potential consequences of a lengthy ban. Thanks to his representation, the court imposed a 12-month driving ban, with the option to reduce it by 3 months upon completing the TTC course due to the lower reading.

Sunil’s expertise and professionalism made a difficult situation much easier to navigate. I highly recommend his services.

The consequences of a drink driving conviction include a mandatory driving ban of at least 12 months although it is often much longer. The court has to determine within which sentencing bracket each offence falls dependent on its assessment of aggravating and mitigating factors. Once it has determined the correct bracket it has to determine where within the bracket the sentence will fall. These are matters which are often disputed between the prosecution and defence. In your son's case, however, the sentence ultimately fell at the very bottom end enabling him to receive the most lenient sentence possible. Thank you for your review.

Book Sunil, you won't go wrong

I had three days to sort my problem, which was an idiot using my licence details to run up 12 points without me knowing. It was only because I had to carryout a licence check that I found the problem.

This where Sunil the BARRISTER of Kent law came in. I found on Facebook by chance!

I then messaged him on his website and within 10 MINUTES HE CONTACTED ME BY PHONE, to find out he could help. It's a great feeling when someone in the know speaks to you at your lowest ebb and starts taking the problem and acts immediately, to resolve the issue in COURT, whereby, I spoke to him on Monday 3rd March, he rearranged his schedule to meet me at 1100, Wednesday 5th. We had until 1400 until my cases were heard.

Sunil, started there and then by searching out the official of the courts, talking and negotiating whether anything could be to have cases all in one sitting.

He sought out the Prosecution officer, Sunil discussed the case with him, he then liaised with the court officials, this all done in the background.

We then went in for my case to be heard, Sunil had sorted the cases in one, the prosecuter agreed to make checks re. My PROPER DETAILS and no the FRAUDSTERS, the prosecution agreed to drop the charging.

Sunil was the reason this happened, due to the hard work he did in the background and his experience was vital to the outcome.

Final point, Sunil informed me that not all courts allow this sort of accomodation but I genuinely feel, that having a BARRISTER by your side, certainly helps.

THANK YOU SUNIL, I HOPE YOU BECOME MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN YOU ARE. ANYBODY READING THIS MAKE SURE YOU GIVE SUNIL JUICY CASES TO GET HIS TEETH INTO.

You contacted me only a couple of days before your case was listed for hearing (at 2pm one day last week). I usually meet all of my clients face to face in advance of the hearing date to prepare for court but there simply wasn't time to do this. In the circumstances, I arranged to meet you at court at 1130am instead. You brought your case papers to court along with 2 further sets of papers for other cases which would have been listed in future. Once it became apparent that the same impersonator issue was common to all 3 of your cases I spoke to the court staff (the court clerk and the cps prosecutor) in between cases in the morning list. These discussions continued through the lunch hour. By 2pm when your case was called on everyone was on your side; you were the innocent victim of an impersonator and were unable to use your licence due to penalty points racked up by a fraudster. The court agreed to deal with all 3 cases at once; all were withdrawn saving you the stress and worry of having cases hanging over your head for weeks or months to come. I am bound to say that, although you wouldn't have had access to the court staff as I did in between cases, that the staff of many courts would not have been so obliging as to deal with all 3 matters when only one was listed. However, this approach did meet the merits of the situation as well as allowing you to 'kill three birds with one stone'! I was really pleased for you and didn't know myself what to expect until I had read the papers at court. To top it all off we then sought out the police liaison officer at court who was kind enough to advise you how to protect yourself from the fraudster in future. This was an unusual case but justice was done in the end. Thank you for your review.

New Driver facing Court- Parent’s perspective

New Driver facing Court- Parent’s Perspective

Sunil was excellent. My New Driver son was facing Court for a driving licence/traffic related charge. From the get go it was obvious that Sunil cared about what we told him and that he would and did truly represent my son with the same level of care you would give to your own child, giving the tough message of what a likely outcome would be, but then ensuring that he did his very best to mitigate away from that happening. Despite the circumstances being against my son, Sunil’s advocacy and knowledge saved my son’s licence from being revoked. I can thoroughly recommend Sunil; he achieved a highly professional and amicable outcome, if you are looking for the right advocate to get your case across in the best way possible, he is the right choice.

Your son couldn't afford to have 6 points endorsed on his licence as this would have meant revocation of licence. In turn, this would have caused him significant adverse consequences. Many new drivers find themselves in a similar position. In such cases, once all the relevant information has been gathered it is up to the courtroom advocate to make as persuasive a submission as possible to seek to dissuade the court from taking the usual course of action in such situations. Fortunately, the court was persuaded to our way of thinking and your son has been able to continue with his work and life as before. I am pleased this outcome was obtained. Being accused of a motoring offence can have very serious consequences. If I take a case, unlike solicitors firms, I deal with the matter from the first enquiry all the way through to any court hearing. This way I can ensure continuity of advice and representation from start to finish. My clients find that they obtain correspondingly favourable outcomes. I am pleased I was able to help you. Being prosecuted in the courts for motoring offences, when you've never previously been in that situation can be a daunting and worrying experience (and that's before taking into account the risk of loss of licence and all that that might entail). However, even the most difficult situations can be tackled with honest and pragmatic advice. I was really pleased that the court accepted your mitigation in full and sentenced you accordingly. I had 12 points and faced losing my license as a consequence.. before I decided to go with sunil I thought I could do it myself.. well, it was a great decision to go with with sunil I 100% wouldn't of been ready for court without him.. and he was 100% committed to helping me keep my license and he succeeded 😁.. thank you

What motorists often don't realise (until it's too late) is that it is very easy to 'score own goals' in court; in other words, unless you have been advised in detail of how the law applies to the facts of your case and what the likely procedure will be in court, it is very easy indeed to say things which will actually make your chances of success worse in court. Fortunately, as you booked a conference in advance we were able to go through the facts of your case and prepare how to present it at its most persuasive. This was just as well as your job and more was on the line. It's only after experiencing your court hearing that you can assess just how easy it would have been to lose! Thank you for your review.
