Spammers, and 3rd Rate Spammers

Spammers, and third rate spammers at that!
Ajay Daksh of artifydesk.com emailed me and thousands of others offering a Free Website SEO Analysis Report. I don’t have a website. There are thousands of these SEO spammers, many from India, but most have at least the good sense to hide addressees in the bcc field, and not reveal their company name.
Please don’t encourage spammers by giving these people any business.

Staff are incompetent, or don't care, or both

***UPDATE Schuh’s response below LOOKS helpful, but it’s just a link to a chatbot where you wait forever for a human but nothing happens. The response was clearly to make them look helpful here, but it’s been a complete waste of more of my time***
It was hardly a major purchase, but I needed new laces for the Doc Marten's shoes I'd bought a few months previously (the laces supplied had develop weird lumps and wouldn't run through the eyelets.

The assistant who served me produced a pair of laces and told me these were the ones. I pointed to my shoes and asked "are you sure they're not too long?", she assured me that these were the correct laces, so I paid for them and left.

When I got home I discovered they were about three times the length of the original laces.

Honestly it's not worth me going all the way back there for such a small amount, but if you're thinking of buying anything there, you should know that at least some of Schuh's staff are either incompetent or don't care about giving you the product you need, or both.

Failed delivery, failed tracking, failed customer service

***Update The reply below from Evri is obviously just for the public eye here, because calling that number leads to the same complete lack of update, information or response.
Maybe they should employ more people to actually handle queries rather than provide disingenuous replies to bad public reviews?
End of update ***

I recommend you ask vendors not use this company. The “tracking” is a joke (basically we’ve got it, it’s out for delivery, and you’ve got it) and the customer service is a joke.

My expected package has been shown as “delayed” until “next working day” since Wednesday morning. The tracking has shown no updates since then.

I used the robot chat Help and have been awaiting its promised call from a human for nearly 24 hours. The bot adds no value to me the customer. It just saves them having to deal with valid customer queries about their poor service.

Just going to the shop would've been much much quicker than Click & Collect

I looked for the product online and found it was available in my local store. I ordered it with Click & Collect, thinking that would save me time in going to the shop, finding the right section, finding the product and taking it to the checkout.
When I'd paid it took me to a confirmation page, which said "Your order will be ready to collect on Wed 9th July from 5:30pm at Pollokshaws". The time then was about 4:45pm. I wasn't sure what this message meant - it would be ready *at* 5:30 or it definitely wouldn't be ready until at least 5:30, possibly later. I did expect it the same day though.
Nothing came that night, and in the morning I saw that I'd a received a notification at 6:23am that the item was ready for collection.
I turned up at the shop, presented my QR code and they couldn't find the item I'd ordered. I waited about 10 minutes, before the product arrived, with much apology.
In this case, it's clear to me that if I had just gone to the shop and found the items, I'd have had it immediately without having to wait overnight and then in the shop.

Review of Bark

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

They sell your contact to people with no relevant skills

***UPDATE to the review below. The response from Bark feels misleading, if not simply untrue. I never presented myself as a will writer to Bark or to anyone else, ever. I never received communication from Bark to say that they wished to present me to potential customers as a will writer. They have unilaterally decided to present me as a will writer, and even offered my services to customers in this capacity. There would be nothing to stop me from contacting these customers and offering these skills that I do not possess, effectively scamming them.
To help you further understand what kind of a company Bark is:
1) I had complained twice by email about these issues and received no action other than an automated response. When I posted here, I get a response within hours. Their efforts are more focused on how they LOOK to the public than the ACTUAL SERVICE they provide to individuals.
2) Within hours of Bark.com's response below, I was astonished to receive another email from Bark.com congratulating me on joining Bark! Utter chaos. END OF UPDATE***

I can corroborate the people in here who say Bark don’t vet the “professionals” they pitch to you *at all*. Having found a website i produced years ago, they harvested my details and started pitching my services to people.
Imagine my amazement when they sent me contact to someone who was looking for a genealogist and then someone who was looking for a will writer! Nothing NOTHING on my website suggests I can offer those services professionally. Luckily I’m not desperate, because I could end up taking money off people who believe that Bark have actually vetted the “the professionals” to whom they sell your contact.
Honestly, you’d be safer just googling for the skills you need yourself, because that’s more than Bark appear to do.

Shambolic Data Usage Management

While away on holiday, I got two notifications that my data was about to run out. It didn't run out. four days later I got a notification that I had 2Gb left.

A couple of weeks later, it did run out, with no warning. I followed the prompts to buy a bolt-on, and it took 2.5 hours for them to send me any confirmation. Meanwhile, I still had no data.

Even after the notification I had no data, and none of my apps that require data would work.

Within two hours of confirming my purchase, I got a notification that I had used all my bolt-on data. This is impossible, since nothing I tried that needed data would work.

As so often happens, the service is shambolic, but shambolic in a way that advantages O2/VirginMedia, getting money for bolt-ons and providing NOTHING except spurious notifications.

Fantastically Helpful Tech Experts

I needed to replace a broken hinge on my kitchen unit and had some difficulty identifying the correct parts.

Nobby and Lukas at Buller Ltd were incredibly helpful through email and online chat, patiently explaining to me about the different parts, and how to identify the correct versions of the parts that I needed.

Spammers - don't encourage them

**Update: And now they have the cheek to deny that they are spammers, making a bogus request for me to forward any suspected spam to them, without adding any contact details! I have a full email trail, showing the spam from a gmail burner account, and the follow-ups from a named and authenticated Appventurez staff member**

I received an unsolicited marketing email from Sarah Lacy at this company offering me services in mobile app development. I have no interest in this, and never have had.

As spammers, these people should not be encouraged: This alone tells you a lot about their business ethics and also their level of desperation for business.

You only know if you've *REALLY* got a good deal on insurance when you have to use it

I took out Home Insurance with John Lewis, attracted in part by their Home Emergency cover.

I've unfortunately had to use this twice. The first time they put me in touch with a company who couldn't deal with my emergency (drains blocked, toilets and sinks unusable) for 36 hours, so I ended sourcing a company myself and getting it done within hours.

The second time is today, the same problem, and I've called the "emergency" number. I've now been listening to legal messages, hold music and apologies for the delay for 17 minutes.

It's not giving "emergency".

You only really know if you've got a good deal on insurance when you have to use it

Spammers

Someone calling themselves “Daisy McKay” sent me a spam email from a burner email address, claiming to have reviewed my website (which doesn’t exist) and with gaps in the spam email template, promoting the services of Digimantra Labs.
The fact that this company has resorted to spam to market their services tells you all you need to know about their professionalism and business ethics.

Don’t encourage spam. Avoid them at all costs.

Misleading marketing emails, wasting my time

I visited this site, and uploaded my DNA data. After having felt misled by the sign-up process, I then deleted it.
I was surprised therefore to receive an email with the subject "You have a new DNA match". After spending a chunk of my time logging into the site and looking for further information on this match, I was reminded that I had deleted my DNA. When I enquired my I had been sent this email, I didn't get a straight answer, just confirmation that my DNA isn't there, so there couldn't be a match.
The email I was sent appears to have been misleadingly titled just to attract my attention. What a waste of my time!
These people might know about DNA but they are either desperate for business or unscrupulous in their marketing, and best avoided.

Spammers pure and simple

Spammers pure and simple
Despite having had no prior contact or interest in this company or anyone associated with them, they started sending me unsolicited emails.
When a company resorts to filling everyone’s inbox with unwanted spam, you get an idea how desperate they must be.
Avoid at all costs. Don’t encourage spam.

Spammers - Do Not Encourage Them

This company has been marketing using spam for a number of years. They send millions of spam messages by email using burner email accounts, and not identifying the company they come from. Only when you pretend to be interested do they then follow up from Blocktech Brew directly.
I have positive proof of this, by replying with a name which I never use elsewhere. The resulting email from Blocktech Brew contains this name.
A company which uses spam for marketing:
1 Is unclear about legal and data protection issues, and therefore not a good idea to use for your project, or
2 Desperate enough for business that they are willing to break the law/rules of ethical practice in marketing.
On this basis, I would discourage anyone from using this company, as they are encouraging spam and given legitimate Indian businesses a bad name.

Someone claiming to be a Marketing Manager at Reeves liked a post I’d made on LinkedIn, then sent a connect request which I naively accepted, which was shortly followed by a sales pitch in a direct message.
They must be really desperate to be using tactics like that.

Market Their Services With Spam

This company markets its services using spam, sending millions of emails to people who have no interest in their services.
I received an email from a gmail address from "Alex, a Web Development Manager in India and I work with 130+experienced IT professionals who are into:
Website designing & development, PHP development, E-Commerce solutions &, HTML, Social Media Cover Page Design, iPhone and iPad apps, Game apps."
This was followed up by an email from "Sam Saurabh
Business Development Manager" at Saurabh at appadvent.com. He must therefore know that spam is being used to market the company.

Spam wastes the time and impacts the productivity of all of us, and this company is one of those responsible. Don't encourage them by giving them any business.
