Purchased a sofa from the SCS Bolton store and the experience has been a complete nightmare from start to finish.
Sales rep came across as overly FRIENDLY — now I see it was all an act. They’re clearly trained to butter you up, offer you a cuppa, and keep you talking just to secure the commission. Ours even admitted he’d get paid on our sale and didn’t want us coming back another day in case he lost it. We felt pressured but went ahead.
Before leaving the store we was asked to leave a Trustpilot review — which my wife unfortunately did, thinking we were in good hands. Big mistake.
Two failed delivery attempts.
No sofa. No apology. Just us sitting on plastic chairs after work for days.
When the sofa finally arrived, it was shocking.
• Sagging fabric
• Visible dents
• Material looked worn out and cheap
• Nothing like the supposedly “Italian-made” quality we were sold. Honestly, it looked second-hand.
We contacted the store immediately — the same sales rep who was overly helpful before suddenly couldn’t do anything. The manager? Completely useless and rude. Not interested in helping at all.
We sent photos. Got ignored.
Emailed multiple SCS addresses. No response. Now going through a small claims route. Just one thing after the other.
This company will treat you like royalty until they’ve got your money — then they vanish.
Customer service is non-existent, and the product quality is downright embarrassing.

We purchased the Eldwick sofa in a 3…
We purchased the Eldwick sofa in a 3 and 2 seater in leather, but it arrived in the wrong colour. The receipt only showed a code — no actual colour listed — and we were never shown a colour chart with codes when we ordered. We chose the colour based on the shop floor model and were assured by the sales rep that the code matched.
When the sofas arrived, not only was the colour wrong, but the quality was disappointing too. There is noticeable puddling where the cushions aren’t properly filled, some stitching is already pulling, and the leather looks puckered in places.
Customer service was absolutely terrible. The Bolton store manager was incredibly rude and unhelpful. Initially, we were told the sofas would be replaced, but later they refused a refund or exchange and blamed us for not checking the colour code — even though we had no way of knowing it was incorrect.
Overall, the experience has been awful from start to finish. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They do not care about customer satisfaction and are quick to shift the blame rather than take responsibility. It feels like we were completely misled.

We spent nearly £3,000 on a sofa from…
We spent nearly £3,000 on a sofa from SCS Bolton, and within just 22 days, it’s already developed multiple faults. We contacted them, completely unhappy, and asked to return it. Their response? “We can fix it, but if you don’t want it repaired, tough – we’re not taking it back.”
Excuse me? It’s not even been a month! If it’s already falling apart now, what’s it going to be like in a year? We paid for a quality product, not something that needs repairs straight out of the box.
Their attitude was shocking – no apology, no care, just a flat-out “we have the right to say no” when we asked for a return. That’s how little they value their customers once they have your money.

Terrible service
I ordered a sofa bed in July this year which arrived in August later with broken legs. The delivery drivers said they would return it to warehouse and someone from SCS would be in touch. No one bothered to keep me informed. I rang customer services several times and eventually returned to the store to ask for a refund. The staff said I would get a refund straight away. That was 3 weeks ago. I paid with my credit card fortunately and my bank refunded me and they now have the job of getting their money back. Shocking service.

I am absolutely appalled by the quality…
I am absolutely appalled by the quality of my SCS sofa and the disgraceful customer service I’ve received. I paid £2,600.
The fabric is loose and wrinkled — completely unacceptable for a sofa at this price. The quality is just very very poor. The seats are misaligned and look cheaply made.
A technician came out to assess it, and that was another joke — he claimed the foam sinking wasn’t a problem, even though it’s visibly collapsing and uncomfortable to sit on.
To make things worse, when I called to escalate the issue, I spoke to the manager, Patrick. His attitude was appalling — rude, arrogant, and completely unwilling to take any responsibility. Since then, SCS has ignored my calls and emails. No updates. No support. Just being ignored.
This level of service is disgraceful, and I will be taking this further through every channel available — including consumer rights services. I don’t usually leave reviews, but this experience has been so frustrating I feel obligated to warn others.
They don’t deserve the 1 start.

We ordered a sofa in May with delivery date from 8th October. We havent had a call so I have tried to track order online but they can't find the order and when I call customer service my call isn’t answered. I have sent two emails and no one has replied back to me. We haven’t received any text messages as advised by the sales lady. We was told we would get a text message. We’ve had no contact from these lot!!
I am getting worried now! Do we have to rock up to the store!!

SCS doesn’t just sell sofas
SCS doesn’t just sell sofas — they sell frustration, incompetence, and a total lack of customer care. Every step of the process was a disaster. Delays, broken promises, zero communication, and when you try to get help? You’re met with useless excuses and people who clearly couldn’t care less.
It’s honestly insulting how badly they treat paying customers. The level of disorganisation and indifference is unbelievable. One star is a joke — if I could give zero, I would.
Avoid this company, You’ll save yourself weeks of stress and regret.

I was sold a sofa by a salesman named Tarique at SCS. The colour we received is completely wrong and nothing like what we asked for or agreed on in the store.
I’ve tried contacting SCS multiple times about this, including emailing their head office, but I’ve had no response at all. It’s incredibly disappointing to spend so much money and be ignored when there’s clearly a mistake. No one accepting accountability.

Sofa shopping made easy and comfortable!
An amazing buying experience at the ScS in Horwich, Bolton. A special mention to Tarique who initially helped us when we first came to visit then he was there to assist when we returned. The welcome was warm, friendly and then helped us choose the right sofa without any pressure at all. I have been in a lot of sofa stores where the sales team were pushy or not customer focused and just wanted a sale. Tarique was supportive, listened and understood my needs from the get go. I did shop around for satisfaction as buying a sofa isnt like buying a bag of sweets, it's got to be the right one as i dont intend to change the suite for a number of years. I returned back to Tarique at ScS for a few reasons as the deal was good and mainly the customer service was bang on! Friendly, attentive, wasn't in our space and left me to have a chat and discuss with my family before we chose. Patience in selling is key I guess. Tarique helped with measurements, style, materials choice and was very knowledgeable and understanding how the new sofas would look in my room. Thank you for making my shopping experience easy and comfortable as sofa shopping can be stressful with so many options out there these days with endless prices too. Honestly, i would highly recommend this store and in particular Tarique. This guy deserves recognition and a promotion. An asset to the business. Thank you!! 10/10.
ScS have delivered the wrong sofa and…
ScS have delivered the wrong sofa and are refusing to take any responsibility or offer a resolution. The sofa they insist we ordered is far too tall — my poor wife’s feet don’t even touch the floor. She has a spinal condition, and we specifically chose a sofa in-store that suited her needs and comfort. What we received is completely different.
As a pensioner, this was a significant purchase for us — made with care and consideration for my wife’s health. It is incredibly frustrating, not only that they delivered the wrong item, but that they are now gaslighting us into believing this is what we ordered.
I have now sent several emails to their customer service department, all of which have been completely ignored. The lack of basic communication is appalling. Not a single reply, not even an acknowledgment. This speaks volumes about the company’s customer care — or complete lack of it. The sales team clearly lacked the knowledge or training to guide us properly during our purchase, and when things went wrong, the so-called manager simply hid behind a dismissive “manager says no” response without offering any explanation or solution. It feels as though once they’ve made the sale, they wash their hands of any responsibility. It’s deeply unprofessional, and quite frankly, shows a complete disregard for their customers — especially those who are elderly or have specific medical needs. The whole experience has been extremely upsetting, and I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before dealing with ScS.

Leather recliner swivel chairs
We did our homework on leather recliner swivel chairs and found the perfect fit at SCS. Natalie was lovely to deal with, friendly and knowledgeable without being overly keen, which we greatly appreciated. A really positive experience and 2 chairs ordered. Now we're looking forward to enjoying them when they arrive!
Only had my sofa just over 12 months…
Only had my sofa just over 12 months and already had them out twice for squeaky seats. When the technician came he said it’s because they have them in the factory too long and they need greasing before making the sofa, which isn’t happening. Now the armrest has started to squeak and I’ve contacted them under the 10yr warranty for the framework and you have to pay £75 call out fee. If it is classed as under the warranty then you don’t pay anymore, but if they decide it’s not, then you have to pay for any additional parts and labour ! It’s the same problem every time with the framework. If it’s under guarantee then I shouldn’t have to pay a call out fee. Shan’t be buying from Scs sofas again !
