As first-time buyers, we expected some level of guidance and efficiency — instead, Bishopsgate Law (Kaya and Sam) made the entire experience stressful, disorganised, and full of avoidable errors.
There were serious issues throughout the process. For example, they tried to charge us £4,000 in stamp duty on a £300,000 house — when no stamp duty was actually due. A basic, costly mistake that we thankfully caught ourselves. You have to wonder how many other people don’t spot things like this.
We sent all our financial documents as requested — PDFs, bank statements, everything. Then, two days before completion, they suddenly claimed we owed them money, despite having signed off the finances three weeks earlier. Even worse, the day before completion, they chased us for money we’d already transferred three weeks prior. It was chaos, caused entirely by poor tracking and internal disorganisation.
We had agreed a date for exchange, which they confirmed — only to find out the person handling our case was suddenly out of office with no notice, causing further delays and stress.
They repeatedly asked for documents we’d already sent, showing zero internal coordination. They also got my partner’s name wrong in the legal documents — something as basic as copying it from ID. It’s hard to understand how that level of inaccuracy is possible.
Communication was appalling. We’d ask multiple questions and receive replies that barely answered one, with no follow-ups, no detail, and almost never any call-backs — about 99% of our calls were ignored or not returned. We had to chase constantly just to get any clarity or movement.
They even tried to charge us twice for a mortgage report that wasn’t needed. That only got resolved after we complained.
The mortgage deed process was another disaster. I sent it in and confirmed everything was correct — only to be told weeks later, just two weeks before completion, that it was wrong. They’d had it sitting with them for 3–4 weeks and hadn’t even looked at it. Even after we sent the corrected version, we had to chase again to confirm they’d received it.
And finally, on moving day, they told us via email that the funds had been transferred and the keys were ready. Except… the email was scheduled and didn’t arrive until the following Monday, three days after we’d already moved. That said it all, really.
There was no support, no care, and no accountability. If we hadn’t been on top of things ourselves, this process could have completely fallen apart.
They did issue a partial refund after all the problems we raised, which we appreciated — but that doesn’t change the fact that the entire process was stressful, error-filled, and badly managed.
If you want a smooth, professional experience — especially as a first-time buyer — I would absolutely not recommend Bishopsgate Law.
Just completed on a property whilst overseas! Thanks to Farah and Evie who were handling my case. They were prompt in responding to enquiries, tactful when handling the seller's solicitors. In fact, everyone I came in to contact with at the Bishopsgate's team proved to be consummate professionals from client care, reception, legal team and accounts. Thank you!
Olivia Bernham and Jasmin Hornsby were the best team we could have asked for, for the sale of our old home and purchase of our new home. They were responsive, professional and friendly and made this stressful process a lot easier for us. Thank you for everything

This year, I have had two house sales handled by their Potters Bar office (Marianna, Sophie, Jyoti & Abdulrazig) and both sales were excellent in quality and value for money. The team followed up and were proactive on chasing buyer. Would definitely recommend, and will use them on future conveyancing

Rahul and Charlie were so supportive when we sold/purchased property. No question was left unanswered and done so in a clear way for us non-legal people to understand!
They were always available by phone and email with no delays. We have transacted with several other conveyancers over time but this service was by far the best and we would highly recommend and use again (but hopefully not too soon as we have just moved!). Many thanks

Debora Da Silveira did a fantastic job, particularly rushing through our purchase when we needed to complete in one day…so a big thank you to Debora and the team for such a great job.

Disappointing. Very difficult to get hold off, impossible via phone, and most emails get ignored. The actual legal parts of our house purchase seem thorough, but the communications and customer care was very poor

I’m a first time buyer and the process could not have been easier, the only stress came from the sellers side with a last minute completion deadline for their onward purchase that Nidhi and Laura (Northampton office) dealt with exceptionally. Communication was brilliant, Nidhi and Laura are lovely, they explained everything thoroughly and I always felt they were acting in my best interest despite external daily pressure. It was reassuring to know that they wouldn’t rush things through at my expense to meet this deadline. Their workload was doubled when the seller changed solicitor but I was again reassured that the original quote would remain the same with no extra fees. I chose to spend an extra couple hundred to go with Bishopsgate Law because of the reviews rather than the absolute cheapest option and I am more than happy with this decision. Would recommend to anyone and everyone! Thanks again Nidhi and Laura for all your hard work and help x

I recently purchased a property with the help of Jayden Gjuzi and James Johnson, and I couldn’t be happier with the service I received. From the very beginning, they were professional, transparent, and highly responsive. Both Jayden and James made what could have been a stressful process feel smooth and straightforward.
They kept me well-informed at every stage, answered all my questions promptly, and genuinely went the extra mile to make sure everything stayed on track. Their communication and attention to detail really stood out.
I’d highly recommend Jayden and James to anyone looking to buy or sell a property, they’re reliable, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with.

They went above and beyond to accommodate my needs, ensuring I could exchange within a tight deadline, giving me ample time to prepare for the completion date. I highly recommend their services.
