Lendology CIC is not your typical lender. This innovative B Corp, social enterprise lender is fully regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and is transforming how homeowners access finance. Working in collaboration with local councils, Lendology offers a diverse range of financial solutions to meet various needs, including home repairs, improvements, adaptations, energy efficiency enhancements, and renewable technology installations. What sets Lendology apart is their commitment to financial inclusion. We take the time to view each client as an individual, making lending decisions not based on their credit score or financial history but their ability to afford the loan repayments in the context of their personal financial circumstances. * Since its establishment in 2005, Lendology CIC has disbursed over £22 million in council capital, revolutionising conventional lending practices and enriching homes and lives through affordable finance. Lendology CIC's dedication to transparency and accountability is evident through its Impact Reports. These reports provide insights into their contributions to the community and the environment, highlighting the positive impact they make in the lives of individuals and communities. The administration of the loan is very clunky and stops the ability to get better quotes. So if you have a few possible builders for quotes you have to submit one to actualise the loan. This does not easily allow getting a better quote as you have to ask the contractor for a quote and if you do that more than once they begin to lose interest in the job. There is little flexibility in the way of being able to wheel and deal to get the best price due to the requirement of "We must have a quote" borg mentality. So you are reluctantly forced to take the higher quote to ensure you have enough loan to cover the costs. The loan is paid directly to the contractor which again smacks a bit of "we don't really trust you" Considering you are repaying the loan which is secured on your property it is not a pleasant feeling. You might feel like you are guilty until proven innocent with a quote and an invoice and Building control notice.
"It's public money" is the mantra if you question any of the process. Yeah I know, I pay the taxes that fund it!
The agreement amounts to about thirty pages which must be signed and returned, you can't just send the signature pages you have to send every page back. If it were not for the preferential rates, a loan company to avoid. Not responsive to customer views and very rigid in process. But when you need a loan, just gotta take the rough with the loan.

From the very beginning the process was faultless. Communication and help throughout from the team who were fantastic. Needed roof repairs which would not have been possible without the loan.

I called Lendology after a recommendation from a friend/co-worker and I am so glad that I did! I had found myself with an unexpected home repair bill and honestly had no idea how I was going to pay for it at the same time I was having solar panels installed that I'd been saving for for years. Lendology agreed to lend the cost of the solar panels which meant I could use the saved money for the home repairs.
From the very first phone call they were friendly, understanding and professional. Shannon went out of her way to guide me through the process and keep me updated with the progress of my application. The rates are extremely reasonable and I had an excellent choice of repayment options.
I'm particularly impressed at the overpayment and early repayment options that exist. So much easier than dealing with a bank or a high street lender.
I'd recommend Lendology to anyone who was looking to borrow money for home repairs or improvements and I can't thank them enough for their help and advice.

Sedgemoor District Council and Somerset West and Taunton Council was one of the original key partners along with Bristol City Council and Lendology in setting up the loan scheme approx. 15 years ago. The products were devised to assist vulnerable, low income households to access affordable low interest loans which many lenders on the high street would not have entertained. Lendology have stayed true to the products and their ethos in supporting our vulnerable clients to get the help they need to undertake essential repairs to their home so that they can remain safe, warm and secure in the knowledge that they can afford to repay their loans. Avoiding further disrepair to the property and falling foul of loan sharks. Lendology also work alongside Somerset's preferred Home Improvement Agency Somerset Independence Plus (SIP). SIP support clients by surveying the home, preparing schedules of work, finding good contractors and overseeing the work financed by the clients loan through Lendology. The partnership of Lendology and SIP providing a 360 service for the client, taking the hassle away. I highly recommend Lendology for their products, customer service and support to our residents in Sedgemoor and Somerset West and Taunton.
