Do not get a mortgage with HSBC or sell to anyone who is

We are selling our house. The purchaser had an offer from HSBC. At the 11th hour they objected to a standard clause in the title deed from Barrets builders that is common to all the houses they build. The clause is intended to maintain the visual appearance of the estate which is 9 years old. No other lender has ever raised an issue but HSBC want a deed of variation which naturally has been declined as they would have to change it for every other property they built. Despite the company telling HSBC that extensions etc can be built but you just need to get prior permissions The purchasers don't even want to make any changes to the property so you'd think it's not a problem but HSBC are being unreasonable have delayed the sale by withdrawing the offer. I would advise prospective purchasers and sellers to avoid them. They also have taken 6 weeks to answer letters and are still waiting as our solicitor asked them to review their decision. Given the impending changes to stamp duty this is very upsetting

Thank you for sharing your experience regarding the mortgage process. I understand how frustrating it can be to deal with delays and complications related to the title deed clause. Your comments about response time and the position on the Barrets builders' standard clause have been noted.

While I can't directly change our lending policies, I empathise with your situation, especially given the urgency of your sale and the implications for stamp duty.

If you would like to escalate this by logging a formal complaint so that your thoughts are heard, please send me an email to social.media.uk@hsbc.com, including TrustPilot #4224160 in the subject line, along with your full name, postcode. Thank you. -Jack

App not working no company support No heating!

Latest update

Very helpful lady, Lorraine, from Hive called and got me back on line. The problem appears to be that to get it going you have to delete the thermostat then reinstall it. However, only they can delete it as the app doesnt allow it. A work around, which I ahve not tried today, is to click add new device that will set the system into search mode then you should be able to reconnect. I think I tried this before but it didnt work If it does for you good.

I replied to hive as below but still have not heard from them it's now the weekend so no heating or hot water all weekend. We are pensioners but they don't care. Buy a different fixed system is my advice.

My original post
We have had Hive at home for about 4 years. Until recently we experienced only one occasion when it failed. We spoke to a agent then and the problem was resolved. Our thermostat now keeps disconnecting and will not reboot. Spent ages on line yesterday to get it reconnected but it's fallen out again overnight,of course it's winter! My daughter has the system as well and hers has also failed. Tried contacting hive but got a message saying No agents available. I'm suspicious as they have just added a subscription service we do not want. Without assistance and them logging in the heating does not work and there are no agents outside 9 to 5. So my advice is now AVOID.

Awful company

Awful company. Took payment without authority refused refund. Split charge so it kept it below £100 the point at which the consumer credit act rules apply. Do not buy from them and do not give them card details.

Difficult to get refunds

The website is difficult to negotiate if you want to do anything other than buy! They give their sellers too much leeway when dealing with things. I returned a package, tracked, delivery was attempted seller won't collect and just keeps saying they will refund when they get the package! Amazon say nothing to do with them until it's delivered. Shambles. Avoid.

This is a bank in free fall

This is a bank in free fall. They are closing branches leaving too few to service the volume of customers that are travelling to the remaining ones. Their IT system is dreadful and only works intermittently. We are closing our accounts as we have no confidence in them. They locked our accounts despite having more than sufficient funds in them, because we had not used them for a while. so when we wanted to get access it was impossible. Then they said to ring them but their answer message says, We are very busy and the wait time is at least 30 minutes. this is not service. It is about time the ombudsman started to hold banks to account.

Lgw is failing

Lgw is failing. The infrastructure is shabby. Carpets thread bear buildings just about clean. No taxis, or local buses. No made up footpath to leave the airport on. Under invested and poorly managed. Bring back the BAA. Santander, the owners, should be ashamed of the place.

I would advise against doing business…

I would advise against doing business with this bank. Trying to contact them is an ordeal in itself, their It systems are particularly poor. they use a smoke screen of 'Ethical Banking' to mask incompetence tinged with desperation to keep in business. they are anything but ethical in my opinion. Try elsewhere.

Review of Honda UK

I bought a new Honda CRV in Feb 19

I bought a new Honda CRV in Feb 19. The front-facing camera is defective and causes alarms to stay on, the car cannot be safely driven. No replacement part until Jan 25th i.e. 9 weeks. Honda has only provided an Astra replacement not an AWD car & won't accept liability of insurance excess on loan car that is not on my own policy. the loan car cannot be taken aborad so my ski holiday is now in jeopardy as well. Honda UK customer care center were rude and unprofessional on the phone but most importantly, unhelpful. I wish I had not bought the car now.
