Sony, UPS, or Apathy...or maybe all three!
I'm not sure if Sony contracts with a middle man companies to handle online PS Direct orders or not, but if they don't then they have some serious housekeeping to do. Ordered a PS5 Slim, item said it would arrive by Sept 4th, I followed the tracking and it says that it's supposed to come next day, I was excited, then I watched in my house camera as the UPS man pulled up to my house and then waited in the truck for 5 or so minutes and never got out. He then drove off. I followed up, said the PS5 would be delivered the next day...nobody came. Then nothing, the tracking hasn't updated in a week and just says "in processing". I reached out to Sony since it's past the delivery date and asked for a refund, their staff was a mixed bag in terms of communication and service, essentially, I had to constantly contact Sony chat to get their "escalations" team to actually respond to an email. I also had to nudge them to get a refund process started for the undelivered (maybe never shipped) item. It was pretty abysmal honestly, it lacked efficiency, dignity, and responsibility. I also never once received any sort of apology for this experience as if a customer ordering a $500 plus item was merely a nuisance or annoyance to deal with. It's offensive since I have been a PS customer since the PS One and I have dumped 10s of thousands into their hardware and software over 25+ years. I'm kind of done, and I'm too old to support this kind of behavior and this kind of company.
