Very high standards.

I needed 4 tyres quickly. Checked on line and Dereham Road branch had a choice in stock, all at competitive prices and had a time slot available within 3 hours. I arrived 15 minutes early and the fitters were available, so they started immediately. The job was done in 30 minutes. I stood outside and watched the guys work and they were quick, organised and meticulous. In addition, the staff were all polite, friendly and cheerful. In my experience, during several visits over the last few years, this branch never fails to provide the very best standards of customer service. The company should be proud of their employees and the fitters should be proud of themselves.

Travelled from Norwich to Southend…

Travelled from Norwich to Southend today, 22/4/2023. Trains were very reliable and punctual. Staff were generally polite and helpful. Now the downside. Many of the local trains have the 5 abreast seat configuration. These seats are hard, narrow, (even for someone slim), and the narrow aisle means that if you sit in an aisle seat you will be constantly bashed by other passengers moving around. Lastly, but by no means least, is the price. Our trip from Norwich to Westcliff cost £116 and took over 3 hours. I also had to drive to Norwich station because the weekend engineering meant that the bus substitution would have taken too long. Fuel in the car would have cost £35. If my son and daughter in law had been able to attend the event, that fares would have been hopelessly disproportionate for a day out. You have to do better than this if you want more business and to encourage more people onto trains as part of an environmentally friendly effort.

Could have been 5 star, but...

Website was generally very well laid out and informative. Slightly disappointed with the build quality of the item. Detail regarding delivery cost was misleading. It said £29 delivery but at checkout, it mysteriously changed to £39. Not a huge amount, but a request for an explanation of the difference was ignored. Delivery scheduling was very quick and customer service was 1st class when I asked them to change the date because I couldn't be available for the first date. Courier was well chosen, the item arrived very well protected and secure on a truck with a friendly, competent and helpful driver. Would have given 5 stars, but for the lack of explanation regarding the delivery charge and the lower than expected build quality.

Went to pick up some plumbing parts and the man who served me turned out to be an ex plumber. Although I am pretty capable, this guy was really helpful and provided me with some useful information that made the whole job a LOT simpler. I am really grateful for his help and for going the extra mile to make life easier for me.

Not impressed...

Paid extra for 6 - 8pm delivery of a double bed, (because I am at work all day), and needed it brought into the house. (I have an injured knee and am awaiting surgery). So, the van arrived at 15.04, the bed was left in the garage and away they went. Saw it all on my cctv through my phone. They also 'signed' for it, although I was told that I had to be here to sign for it. In fairness, when I complained to the bed suppliers, they refunded my additional payment without hesitation and contacted Panther, who offered to send 2 people down the next evening to bring it in, but that wasn't really the point. (By the time they got back to me I had arranged for friends to come to help me that same evening). Very disappointing service.

Ideal location

We were attending an event at Wembley Arena. This parking space was ideal, being just a few minutes walk around the corner to the arena. Plenty big enough for my large car. We were greeted by a very cheerful and helpful man who even asked if we would like water! Because it is in residential street, its away from the busiest area, which meant just a short walk back and we were in the car and away home without getting caught in a lot of traffic. Very good, thank you.

Two great tours

We took twp tours with Get Your Guide while we were in Portugal and both were fantastic. The places we visited were enthralling and the guides were excellent in every respect. They were highly informative, as guides should be, but they were such lovely people that they became friends within minutes of meeting them. Slight manufacturing problem with one of the boots I ordered. Return was absurdly easy and refund was made without any delay whatsoever. Because the service was so good, I decided to order a different pair of boots, which arrived very quickly and are ideal for my needs. Needed some things in a hurry and called into Toolstation. Really helpful staff and very quick service, as well as having what I needed on the shelf. Not greatly impressed

Generally, the kitchen is good and I am happy with it but there are a number of issues which affect my overall opinion of Kitchens Direct. Customer service is patchy. Some staff are very kind and helpful, others appear to be very snappy. The effects of Covid didn't help, but the first obvious problem is the delivery. They say they will slot you into a particular week, but are very reluctant to be more specific, meaning you have to be available for the delivery at very short notice, which is difficult if you are at work. You don't get much help or sympathy on that score. Covid meant that the builders and fitters were behind, so it was not possible to inspect all of the items within the specified time frame. When it was all unpacked it was disappointing to find many scratched and damaged items, which were clearly damaged before they were packed. Of course, having to unpack the units weeks later means there is no recourse with Kitchens Direct, which is not their fault. The units are quite well made, but it was annoying to have to fix the backs on properly. The double units lack a centre support, which means the shelf load is restricted, unless you do as I did and use some spare plinth to cut and fit some reinforcement. Because of the delays, it was necessary to order some extra items. This in itself was simple enough, but there is no communication about lead times or when the items will be delivered, (until the last minute). An additional annoyance is the carriage charge. In each case there was a £29 delivery charge, which I accepted, but then there was an additional charge, relating to my postcode, of another £25. As I live in mainland, east of England, I can see no possible justification for such a charge. In one instance, to pay a total of £54 for the delivery of a single end panel, using an everyday carrier is unreasonable. I checked with the couriers, who confirmed that they would have delivered for under £25. Lastly, although the kitchen was a bit cheaper than many well known suppliers, it was not significantly cheaper and certainly not by as much as KD would like you to believe. I was very impressed with the range of sizes of units offered, but less impressed with the paint finish, which seems to chip very easily and may explain why so many items were damaged within the packaging. Overall I'm satisfied now it's all installed, but all the niggles mean that I felt very little emotion, other than relief, when it was finally finished. Very sad, given the amount of time and money I had invested in a new extension, the units and everything else. I would have quite a few reservations about recommending this company, and I probably wouldn't use them again, for the reasons listed above.

Ordered item Saturday lunchtime......

Ordered item Saturday lunchtime, paid for Sunday delivery. Received text from Parcelforce on Sunday morning to say item would arrive between 12.30 and 13.30. It arrived at 11.35. Job done and finished by 12.30. Excellent! If only everything could be that simple.
