Renegade Evo GTX Lo Walking shoes
I am writing this review as a repeat customer who has purchased three pairs of Lowa shoes over the years. Unfortunately, my experience of these shoes not lasting over 13 months has completely changed my mind this time round.
The shoes were, as always, extremely comfortable, but their quality is frankly unacceptable. After only 13 months, they have failed, which is ridiculous for a pair that costs over £190. When I contacted customer service, I was simply informed that they were out of warranty, and is fair wear and tear.
The product's lifespan does not reflect the price at all. It is incredibly frustrating to see a brand I trusted decline in quality so significantly. Based on this experience, I will unfortunately be taking my business elsewhere. They could have had a customer for life, if their sole could last longer than a year of use .
Great upper terrible solesI
I love the comfort and fit of lowa renegrades.
However I’m now onto my fourth pair!!!!as sadly the soles start to wear after approx three months.
It’s taken till this pair to realise that as soon as the outer edge of the heel wears…then I start to slip and fall.Pretty dangerous really.
The soles are Vibram and unfortunately most boot companies now use this stuff.
I had one pair resoled but it wasn’t successful.
Unfortunately I’m now left with four expensive pairs of boots with great leather uppers that are extremely waterproof that I can’t risk wearing
Lowa Zephyr mk2
Lowa Zephyr mk2, much appreciated, personally nothing special. Tried and used, they are not comfortable for me (personally), hard, rigid, heavy. The sole was ruined after only a year, the internal insole was easily damaged. Honestly for 200 euros I do not recommend them.
Very poor quality, extremely poor customer support
After only two (2!!) modest hikes the outsole of a brand new Renegade GTX started to crumble into pieces. I contacted customer support, who literally said “we’re sorry, but it’s not our problem, you should complain to the reseller”. It’s your problem given you produced those shitty shoes!
The soul of the boots fall apart
I have had a few pairs of Lowa mountain and patrol boot issued to me when I was in the military. The boots a amazing when you first get them. They are like putting on slippers compared to other army boot that I have had but the problem is the souls.
They just seem to rot away. And at around £100 to replace a set of soul, it is not cheap. I have two pairs of these boots at the moment both needing souls replacing .
Question I have is it worth doing or just spend the money on a different set of boots.
Men's Renegade boots…
I bought a pair of Men's Renegade boots from Cotswold about a year ago, but in less than a year the leather is cracking and breaking up not only around the flex point, but in several other places too. I have regularly washed and waxed these boots after use, however both Lowa and Cotswold say that I have not properly looked after these boots, so they will not refund me.
All I can say is that a year's warranty is not worth the paper it is written on and that I will never buy Lowa boots again; neither will I buy boots from Cotswold again.
Pity as initially those boots were very comfortable....

I've owned (and still own) multiple…
I own three pairs of Lowa boots and have worn out many more over the past 20 years. I think this relationship is going to have to come to an end now though. Wore my 'best' boots on Monday for a walk and discovered the softer grey rubber part joining the sole to the boot has disintegrated. The hard black sole is fine. I bought these particular ones (Tibet's, I think) about four years ago to use as a winter boot, so they've had relatively little use and still looked fairly new. Lowa won't replace them after 12 months even though there's obviously a manufacturing materials fault. I don't think I'll be spending £99 plus postage to have the soles replaced. I'll just put the money towards a pair of Scarpa's instead.
Lowa shoes are still falling apart
Lowa shoes are still falling apart. The soles on my almost unused Lowa hiking boots fell off during a hike in Norway. Within 15 minutes both soles suffered the same problem and I had to tie the soles to the uppers temporarily, Very uncomfortable and dangerous when I was walking down the mountain. The problem is apparently caused by a wellknown chemical proces called "hydrolysis". Why Lowa has not solved this problem after years of knowing about it is a mystery to my. Or maybe it is not a problem for Lowa that their customers' shoes are falling apart;-) I will never buy them again and advise others to avoid the as well.
don't buy
don't buy, spent almost £200 on a pair of Renegade boots, little use over 2 years only to find tops split, edge of sole split and sole letting go, very disapointing as they look good shame about quality.
Lowa gtx boots very comfortable but the…
Lowa gtx boots very comfortable but the rubber came away. They sent me a new pair and the same thing as happened again expected years of wear for the price I paid but only lasted a month
I bought a pair of gtx boots
I bought a pair of gtx boots. Most comfortable shoes I ever had. I wore them 4 times and the rubber split apart on the sole. Not the sole of shoe coming off. Called lows they have a one year guarantee and because I couldn’t find my receipt they wouldn’t do anything exchange nothing and these shoes hadn’t been wore in the rain. Lows says six years on shoes somebody in lowa lied. Usually if I can’t find something good to say I just keep my mouth and opinion to myself but wearing 4 times for $260 is a little unfair. Shoes wear great very poor quality and customer service
women Lowa Renegade hiking boots
I have owned women Lowa Renegade mid hiking boots for over five years they have outperformed in comfort and durability any other boot I have had and I’ve tried several prior to buying the renegade I need a hiking boot which would fit a narrow foot It is very difficult to find hiking boots in narrow widths. The Lowa renegade comes in narrow. It has worked beautifully hiking up mountains New Hampshire as well as local trails. Lightweight and comfortable.

The soles and heels wore down 2 months after the guarantee ran out. Comfortable but really not worth the money.
Excellent boots
Excellent boots. Delighted with customer service.
I own Lowa Cadin, Explorer II and Camino Evo boots for hillwalking and mountain trekking every 2nd weekend. The Cadin are a great boot for Munro bagging. The Camino Evo is a long distance trekking boot and the Explorer is an A/B grade boot which can take rougher trails or some off trail use if necessary. I have worn Rangers in the past and they were great.
I have Lowa Amplux for trail running.
I'm my experience, all Lowa boots are well made but need to be worn and maintained, same as any other footwear made of leather and with PU soles. If you want to avoid issues with sole delamination then learn about hydrolysis. Don't store your boots wet, or in a humid location, wear them regularly and you should get years out of them, like I have.
I have found the UK customer service rep to be outstanding to deal with. I just can't relate to the negative reviews.
lowa amazing boots
lowa amazing boots, I work 12 hour shifts and do a lot of walking I wouldn't buy anything else,
Bought Lowa Renegade Low GTX in August…
Bought Lowa Renegade Low GTX in August 2022. Now September 2023 and the inner heel on both shoes has worn down to the undersole! Lowa simply refer you (after 12 month guarantee passes) to Lancashire Sport Shoe Repairs. Most comfortable shoes ever - but quality of sole is terrible. £99 minimum to repair! Will not buy Lowa products again.
Lowa sale big nothing.
Lowa is the company which sale nothing. No shoes, no refound. Do not bother.
Used to be good
Very comfortable shoes, used to be good brand, but unfortunately soles start delaminating after some use. I have 2 pairs still good looking shoes, that became useless only due to one flaw. Do not recommend buying.
