Always had a good experience on eBay…
Always had a good experience on eBay had a few problems with sellers but eBay customer service always willing to help resolve issues and most stuff is covered by eBay money back guarantee which is worth paying an extra few pence
Sellers beware
Sellers beware, they are extremely difficult to work with, especially regarding errors on their system. I have spent 2 hours over the last two days with customer support only to have the chat closed before it was resolved, twice. If you have other options, go with them.
Please be aware of scam
Please be aware! EBay does not return money when you get scammed. I have bought dog food which they did not deliver. The seller reply automatically for a month that it will be delivered soon, while the date is way passed. I have raised the request on eBay, but they closed the request. I have appealed but they refused to return money. I used eBay for ages, but never again. Scam.
Pathetic Customer Service
If you are thinking of selling anything using an online site and are considering ebay, be prepared to be frustrated. Nothing to do with being successful or not with items you no longer want, more to do with trying to navigate the site or communicate with the faceless people who ‘run’ the organisation.
It is a typical business of today, (an extreme example),whereby they make it virtually impossible to speak to an actual person, even by live online chat, never mind verbally over the phone. Everything is instead, guided towards reading an article about what you are looking for an answer for, which is an ok idea in theory except when you click on the link guiding you there it takes you to something either unrelated or clearly without the solution you want. The site, or certainly the ios app, is not at all intuitive and is extremely annoying when trying to find something or wanting to return to a previous page when you find you are on an article that is unrelated. The general design of the app does not make doing the simple things in a one click way.
Having only recently started using the site to sell some inherited items that were not wanted by any family members, I apparently made a mistake with the type of postage for a vintage commemorative knife I had listed. I had thought I had followed the instructions regarding using an age verification carrier but I woke this morning to find an email from ebay saying the listing had been removed due to contravening this rule. To be fair the email said they were trying to educate me on the issue,(slightly condescending but fair enough), and had removed the listing because of my mistake.
I had hoped to look at the original listing to check before perhaps re-listing. This isn’t easy.
I also read the article on selling such items and what was and wasn’t allowed to be sold on ebay. A quick search using the words I had used in the title of my listing turned up other listings of bladed articles listed as using standard, non- verified postage types plus items that were banned from being listed regardless.
After a frustrating period of time trying to use a supposed on-line chat (kept directing me towards ‘read this article’) I was finally allowed to click on a ‘call me’ option. Sure enough within two minutes my phone rang and someone introduced themselves as being from ebay. I replied with good morning and began to tell them of my issue. With the phone on speaker phone I noticed there was no further acknowledgement of what I was saying after a few seconds so I asked if they could hear me ok: no reply and after a further number of seconds they cut me off. Whether this was due to poor connection to an overseas call centre or not, I would have thought another call back would have been appropriate, but no, just an email a few minutes later saying they had tried to call but were not able to for one of the following reasons:
“The call was not answered”.
“The call reached a voicemail”.
“The call reached a busy signal”.
“The number was wrong or disconnected”.
“eBay’s customer service phone number is blocked on your device”.
“Spam filters enabled on your device blocked the call”.
All clearly untrue as the call was answered and the ebay employee introduced themselves so why lie?
Just another perfect example of the not fit for purpose customer service.
The return policy is very slippery. It's a loophole for scammers.
The customer return policy for spare parts defies logic. Any unrealistic buyer request can be misrepresented as not matching the description. eBay always sides with the buyer. Sellers are not allowed to leave negative feedback for buyers, so future sellers can see the buyer's return policy. There is no justice on the platform, as eBay does not act as an arbitrator. eBay always takes its own commission from both parties. This is a very bad practice.
A patron of eBay for years - definitely time to say goodbye
I have been a patron of eBay for many years, mainly on a selling basis. This new buyers protection guarantee leaves very little protection or support for sellers. Buyers can pick and purchase as they please and return items with absolute impunity, despite any adequate reasoning. eBay will always side with the buyer in this day & age. I have lost hours of my time on sales along with plenty of my own money due to having to return items. The platform is dying and I will be using alternative e-commerce sites going forward.
Promises made but not kept.😡😡
Promises made but not kept.😡😡
Trying to find a positive outcome for an open request, initially everything went excellent, just to be refused a full refund for a faulty van battery.
Ebay it's a shame and a shadow of itself from 30 yrs ago when they came online. Pierre Omidyar will be unbelievable disappointed of this online giant has become 😡😡😡😡😡
Charging Twice for Postage Scam
Quite new to eBay, sold an item which was sent as a large letter at EBay’s advice. Buyer charged for the £1.55, then I was charged £3.50 too!! Quite the scam going there by eBay charging both for postage. I called to complain and was told by a manager eBay always charge an extra £3.50 for postage, a blatant lie. Be wary
DO NOT SELL ON EBAY!!!!!
DO NOT SELL ON EBAY!!!!!
sold item on ebay and they are witholding the funds, refusing to send them to my bank account, when you ring up you get someone in a call centre half way round the world who does not listen and will not sort any problem out. When you ask to complain again they wont let you and hang up the phone on you.
They think they are above the law and that there policies set out by them are above the law.
The staff on the phone are untrained, unproffessional especially when they wont let you speak without them interupting you everytime but you can do that to them they dont like it and again cut you off.
Looking for Trigan Empire volumes 3 and 4 for a birthday present.
Ebay simply WOULD NOT give me just those - it included everything to do with Trigan Empire, old, new, volumes 1 and 2, as well as 5 and 6, pages and pages of it.
I did not have the time to find 3 and 4 in amongst all the other offerings, and the prices turned out to be VERY high, too, veering from £14 up to £37.
Found what I was looking for at Awesome Books. No hassles, free postage, £28 for the two.
Ebay takes too long, actively, deliberately, annoyingly detains you, doesn’t give you what you want, it’s prices are increasingly uncompetitive and the whole process is slow; It cost the sellers a sale.
Ebay used to be our first port of call, but no longer.
If you want to waste time go for it

Yeah go sell on their platform. Spend money on inventory and then get suspended without any reason.
I got to top rated status and they suspended me. Hilarious.😂
Absolute amateurs.
Racist customer support
Ebay customer support is clearly racist against English people . Dispicable.
Rude, unhelpful, discriminative obviously highly racist and treats its UK customers with utter lack of respect,
Non exsistant customer care.
This platform requires a complete over hull .
Ebay looting seller
I wanted to sell on eBay but first experience is so bad that i feel like its just a trap. I listed an item to sell with eBay promotion. I got from a buyer which I accepted. Within a minute I received message from buyer that he don’t want the item and eBay is not letting him cancel the order. When i try to cancel it, eBay asked for its fee for promotion for an item which is still not selling. I feel like i got scammed. Bullsh!t platform
False reviews of products.
False reviews of products & incorrect delivery times. Ordered an item that was 1-2 days delivery but still waiting 5 days later. Many items have ' best offer' which is pointe as sellers response with minimal reductions
EBAY suck
EBAY suck. They are trying too much. First that bank account is not good enough. Your seller account on hold ? Then update bank details and national insurance number! Now recently they want either passport ! Driving license or new dreaded government ID. And still awaiting for a payout. Im going to cash out after this. Had enough 😪
Never again will I buy off eBay
Never again will I buy off eBay. So unhelpful, was sent totally wrong crappy item, from China, says it all, but couldn’t get them to help with it being sent back…. Twice bitten……!!!
Need a credit card to verify my age…
Need a credit card to verify my age before I can buy tools
Disgraceful company
Disgraceful company, condescending customer support who take pleasure in rejecting assistance. They have lost 3 customers with one poor judgement from a CS employee who sounds like they swallowed a dog toy.
Be better, treat your customers with respect.
Scammed with the help of eBay’s indifference.
After over a decade of buying & selling on eBay, with 100% positive feedback, eBay allowed a scammer get a full refund on an insured , perfectly working item out of my pocket, leaving me a negative feedback and even not returning my item back.
All my evidence & explaining his scam fell into the deaf ears of a neglect & indifferent customer service( or complaint management).
Ebay is scamers paradise
Lost 200£. Bought new mobile phone broke down after a few months, contacted manufacturer response was it's illegal import to UK so no warranty given. Contacted seller no luck, contacted ebay response not their problem. Contacted my own bank, their response :the way ebay operates it's impossible to get money back .
