Review of Argos
So far it’s the usual waiting game. My chemo treatment prevents from me from leaving but having to rely on home deliveries means I really welcome good communications: Argos is appalling at this. I have a window of fourteen hours to wait for a delivery - a promise of a text message is hollow.
Will endeavour never to use again.
Further update. It’s not coming. Argos say it’s the fault of their partner Yodl. Pointed out my contract is with Argos and they said that’s right but I must track it via Yodl myself. It’s now coming tomorrow she said. No I said. Cancel it. Refund me and the delivery fee.
Someone will contact me from Finance department in forty eight hours she said.
Why do we allow these companies to flourish ? The bigger they get the more stress they create and the more money they make because we the customer have no redress, no telephone numbers, no names and no address to call or complain to. Just a virtual assistant and poor English writing person whose name I cannot spell.
ONE DAY LATER UPDATE: A few moments ago Argus sent me an email saying ‘Good News - we have received your order!’ What a pity I didn’t receive it! No apology. No explanation - just good news!
They’re now promising to refund me in a week or so.
Wow! That’s customer appreciation !
Review of GC Motors
With the passing decades you gather experience and in regard to British car dealers this has left a taste of mistrust and unease in me.
UNTIL: I met the GC team which, simply by attitude and presence, persuaded me that I was on good and solid ground.
Justin, Paul and Laura were totally professional. They were more than fair on my trade-in. They eased the path through each step taking my thoughts and questions into consideration and dealing with them.
Faultless. I have absolutely no hesitation to putting my name to a recommendation to the GC Motors team. Thank you.

Review of Admiral Insurance
My late wife was a long-term fan of Admiral and then so was I. Unfortunately I had a rather bad health diagnosis a couple of months after taking out my last policy and had to cancel and sell the car. Admiral were absolutely superb - no fuss, no penalty or cancellation fee and then an extraordinary swift refund. If I get through my problem I will be going straight back to them. My thanks to a wonderful staff.

Review of SEPHORA UK
Dreadful. Got your money - end of story. Still waiting for a simple voucher to be delivered for my granddaughters birthday tomorrow. Paid for it last week -£100 - and could they have sent it by post? Yes! Did they? No! Charged delivery fee and sent it by the worst of the worst Evri! I say sent it: it hasn’t even left their depot yet and I have just received an email from them that it might be delivered this week. A damn disgrace of a company taking advantage mostly of young folk who are continually being duped and disappointed by this French led dis-organisation. .
EDIT POINT: Following Sephora’s tepid not-our-fault response I was asked if I wanted to edit my review. Yes. Roll on another granddaughter birthday when hopefully she’ll have grown sick and tired of cheap-pretends sold at massively inflated prices and will have decided to buy sensibly and with a little more class.

Review of CarGurus
No longer interested in this outfit. Used to respect it as one of the most useful motor trade online companies but now you cannot even browse the site without them demanding personal information - which they then use to trade, sell or unwanted marketing.
When I go into a shop I do not expect to have to give postcode, email, phone number etc just to walk in the door.
I don’t care what others think or whether or not they gladly offer all their personal info. You are not having mine. Get wise. There are so many car sellers that are only too pleased to allow free independent online browsing. Goodbye.
Review of Argos
My friend who is coming eighty years of age, ordered and paid for a microwave - Panasonic at just under four hundred pounds. It was delivered with dents and damage. Also another document - a different customers order number, with her full name and address, was stuck inside. It seems she may well have returned the microwave and Argos simply re-addressed it to us. The returns phone line is extremely difficult for some people, but extremely difficult for an ageing person. It would have been helpful if the Argos lady has spoken reasonable and articulate English, but as she didn’t it was difficult to make her understand our annoyance. Another way if looking at it was that by having someone who doesn’t speak fluently and isn’t articulate, then the customer - my friend - has to give up, surrender and leave the discussion. This was on the 21st April. She still has not been notified of her refund. What Argos did tell her though was that they would make a refund but it didn’t include the delivery charge of almost six pounds. Scandalous and I will pursue it further on her behalf.
The order number for confirmation is:
1572960331
It’s the very last time either of us will use this company again. Little wonder their presence on the High Street has diminished. Appalling customer treatment.
I will add that my octogenarian friend was told that she was responsible for repackaging the item which was incredibly heavy. As the delivery driver said - you've picked the heaviest microwave we sell.
It was only articulate part of the returns conversation we had. Having explained that she was too frail to pick it up she was told that she HAD to otherwise the pick up driver would leave it.

Review of Marks and Spencer
This is a continuing complaint for an item which has disappeared and M&S cannot be contacted unless - I pay for the phone call and wait for an hour to speak to a robot or make an inquiry via a robot. In the meantime I have a grandson waiting for his birthday pressie having paid for it AND paid for the delivery day of my choice. I gave them eight days notice and they sent me an email saying ‘we are very busy this time of year ‘ and they have disabled tracking for my item. Absolutely furious. As in disconnected Britain today no one to take responsibility once they have your money. Shameful treatment and M&S bosses are giggling that they have our money AND our goods. What a scam!!!
Review of Marks and Spencer
Like many I would prefer not to give it a single star but that would prevent me expressing any feelings about the inadequate and appalling service offered by this faded and failing enterprise.
Pack up and sell off your stores - you fail miserably, you cut corners to cut costs, you pay your directors great bonuses and care but for the masses. I know that you understand well that many who read this will stay with you. Not out of loyalty but because they feel they need companies like you: you have a monopoly on nostalgia and a very old customer service reputaton. It is also tarnished it is unreadable.
We pay for delivery and you give us failure. You know it’s Christmas and you take no action whatsoever. For every pound you save on meeting promises you disappoint a customer. Now a former customer. I’ll be around longer than you M&S. you are yesterdays business model.
Review of Ultimate Guitar
Always thought it was the best then recently I have been having problems with it. I can no longer link with Spotify, I can’t play song with many originals any more as the system has changed, many of the songs are + 1 tone different, I know I’m an amateur but what used to be so much fun is so difficult. My current M.O. is using my mobile to play a Spotify number through a Bluetooth speaker and using my iPad my to read the tab.

Review of Toolstation
Mentally appraising my own experiences of purchasing shoddy goods from this company and I’ve been reading their responses to similar-minded former customers: Toolstation has a standard copy and paste response which is that they will pass on customer comments to the individual suppliers.
This is absolute evasion of legal compliance. Toolstation are legally responsible for the goods they sell and their refusal to comply means they are breaking the law. Go to your trading standards officers. Make a formal complaint and spend ten pounds in issuing a County Court warrant against the company. You can do all of this online.
So many companies today such as Toolstation and Curry’s refuse to legally trade in the knowledge that very people will take their complaints further.
Do not accept that position - ever !
Update: Toolstation have responded in a vague and non-committed cut and paste (see below) and you will understand that yet again they refuse to publicly accept the legislation that binds them to customers.
Until they and others do I recommend shopping elsewhere. Hitting them through the till is the only way to make them understand their LEGAL obligations.
