1 Star Review – Avoid Waggel Like the Plague

We’ve been with Waggel for a year and even upgraded our policy last month.

Today, when our dog needed urgent help, I discovered just how useless this company really is.

Waggel won’t let you go directly to your vet - instead, you’re forced to go through their partner app, Joii, first - a feature I have no recollection of opting for. If you don’t, they threaten to fine you £50 for daring to get your pet real medical care without their permission.

So I did what they required: set up a brand-new account with Joii (a name that couldn’t be less appropriate - there was absolutely nothing joyous about the experience). After waiting 20 minutes online, finally got through to someone who kept me hanging another 9 minutes, and then they cut me off mid-consult - four minutes in, well before their supposed five-minute cut-off time.

To compound the situation, they lied and claimed I ended the chat myself. Minutes later, I received a pointless email about the dogs “treatment plan” from a vet who never actually helped.

We’ve cancelled the Waggel policy immediately. I refuse to pay for a service that lies, delays, and fines you for trying to care for your own pet.

If you love your animal and want genuine support when it matters, stay far away from Waggel and Joii.

These two combined are the definition of bureaucracy over compassion, money over service and pure frustration.

Hi Andy,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

To clarify, Joii is a third party veterinary triage service we partner with to provide policyholders with quick access to professional advice.

As outlined in your policy wording, the Joii triage is an optional service that customers can choose to opt in to when purchasing a policy. However, for customers who do choose to include the triage feature, we require them to complete a Joii consultation before visiting a vet, unless it’s an emergency situation. In emergency or life-threatening cases, you are not required to use Joii, and no penalty fee would apply if your vet confirms the situation was urgent.

We understand this experience has been frustrating, and we’re reviewing your feedback with our partners to ensure the process works as smoothly as possible.

GotRentalCars / BSP Auto - Dishonest, Deceptive, and Utterly Shameless

GotRentalCars are the most dishonest, manipulative, and disgraceful outfit I’ve ever dealt with in over 30 years of travel. They lured me in through Skyscanner with a £108 rental offer - a perfectly normal price - but then, after taking full payment, suddenly demanded another £95 just to add my wife as an additional driver.

That charge was never mentioned anywhere during booking. Not in the summary, not in the terms, not even in the small print. A textbook bait-and-switch tactic designed to trap customers after payment.

When I realised what they’d done and cancelled three minutes later, they still took £50 as a “late cancellation” fee - for a booking I barely had time to read, let alone use.

Their conduct is beyond shameful. This company survives on hidden fees, misleading information, and complete disregard for honesty. It’s the kind of business that gives the entire car-rental industry a bad name.

The smug confirmation email that followed - proudly announcing they’d “refunded £58” after stealing £50 for themselves - was just the final insult.

If BSP Auto had a motto, it would be “Steal first, explain later.” They operate like professional pickpockets wearing a customer-service badge.

Avoid these filth at all costs. A company that treats customers like this doesn’t deserve to exist in a modern marketplace.

Review of Autotrader UK

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Arrogant, Broken, and Completely Out of Touch

Auto Trader has refused to let me list my own vehicle as a private sale. It’s a car I own outright, registered in my name for over 10 months, and drive daily - yet they’ve decided I’m a trader based on internal checks they refuse to disclose.

Yes, I’ve listed several cars in the past - all at a loss, all paid listings, (but only 1 actually sold through their platform) trying to recoup money after a failed attempt to pivot into a business I quickly abandoned.

I have no dealership, no motor trade licence, no business premises, and I’ve never made a penny profit from the sales of any car. But apparently, intentions from years ago and a few listings are enough to brand someone a commercial seller for life.

They demanded documentation. I gave them everything - full V5, driving licence, passport, honest communication. Their response? A brush-off email quoting "confidential checks" they refuse to reveal.

Ask for clarification and you’ll get the same robotic response:

“We can’t tell you what we flagged - that would invalidate our checks.”

That’s the level Auto Trader operates on: you provide evidence, they provide excuses. You comply, they dismiss.

The so-called “Customer Security” team is little more than a scripted firewall designed to shut down any real engagement. You won’t get logic, fairness, or transparency. You’ll get obstructive policy, vague language, and a platform that believes it’s above accountability.

What makes this even more insulting?
I’ve supported Auto Trader for decades - since the print days, when I spent my pocket money on their magazines. Loyalty clearly means nothing to these corporate clowns. Now they’re just another soulless digital gatekeeper, run by automated systems and staff too underqualified to question the algorithm. They're filling seats with underachievers - only to do what AI can’t - yet. Tick-tock.

If you're a private seller, don't waste your time. Use literally any other platform - because once their system mislabels you, there's no coming back - no matter how honest or cooperative you are.

They’re not here to help. They’re here to rinse you, manipulate, lie, cheat and label you.

And yes, Auto Trader will likely reply below with their usual canned line - “We’re sorry you feel this way, it's not how we want our customers to feel, please contact us so we can look into it further.”

Don’t be fooled. I’ve already contacted them, submitted all documentation, and even endured a 10-minute phone call where I was effectively lectured and berated to by someone reading from a script.

This isn’t a misunderstanding - it’s how they operate.

This review isn’t for Auto Trader. It’s for the next private seller who thinks they’ll be treated fairly.

You won’t be.

Hi Andy,

Thank you for taking the time to share your review.

We really appreciate your loyalty over the years and that you’ve been part of our community for so long. I’m sorry to hear you’ve been frustrated with how things have been handled.

When an account gets flagged as trade, it’s based on several checks. We can’t share the exact details of those checks because they help protect the system from misuse and keep everyone safe. I understand it can feel frustrating and unclear, and I’m sorry our responses haven’t been as helpful as you’d hoped.

We have a responsibility to carry out due diligence because, unfortunately, some people list vehicles as private sellers when they are actually trading commercially.

If you want to talk this through further, please get in touch with us at customersecurity@autotrader.co.uk and we’ll do our best to help.

Thanks,

Fatima

Grab a Bolt - you’ll be much better off…

Have had brilliant experiences in the past, but now - it’s a disaster. Two drivers cancelled on me at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang within a week, drivers turning up when I was only looking for a price, then they charge you on your next trip. Pretty grim and disgusting. There’s a new app called Bolt - that’s been great and half price, so my suggestion is Grab a Bolt.

What I don’t get is; they have the gall to charge you for nothing, yet when their drivers cancel you at international airports, they don’t get penalised and you certainly don’t get compensated.

Quality

Following a disaster with another provider, I ordered with CarMats.co.uk

I followed up with an email to confirm my order was exact, to which Kate from customer services promptly replied, was polite, pleasant clear and concise.

Mats have arrived, are a perfect fit, are excellent quality and the entire experience is exactly what you would and should expect from a British company.

Happiness. Thank you.

Liars and thieves.

There is a registration number section, this picks your car, then orders a different model. Mats that turned up are ok, but do not fit - at all.

Other unfortunate customers have written the exact same.

Contact customer services and it is your fault, you're dumb, you don't know what model you drive and you're an idiot.

Stay away from this outfit, it doesn't end well.

*********Edit after being reported for "containing harmful or illegal content"*********

There is no harmful, illegal content or hate speech in this review. None. There are, however, repetitive falsehoods from “finestcarmats.co.uk”, a company claiming integrity, yet pull despicable stunts trying to shut the truth down.

I tried your website again and the car registration number option - no mistakes made my side, only yours.

Having read countless reviews on this site about finestcarmats.co.uk - this is not the first time this has happened - in fact, all too common. I am not the first, the only nor the last.

Having retrieved your mats from the bin, you have sent me plain, standard car mats - not at all customised which you claim, thus contradicting your statements and only aggravating your situation, whilst compelling the fact that whoever wrote/writes your response(s) is a perpetrator of terminological inexactitudes.

When I started the communication with you, I was polite and courteous - until it dawned on me and became obvious that this is your method of operation, so I then responded like most people in this wonderful land would do. Did I use profanity? Yes, but not here, not publicly and only after it became obvious what you were doing.

Not once did you offer me an apology, a refund or new mats. You just pointed the finger. What would most British people do?

Have you had any dealings with trading standards? Here’s what they deal with, Quote: “ Trading Standards use the information you give them to investigate unfair trading and illegal business activity, like rogue traders and scams”. End quote. That pretty much sums “finestcarmats.co.uk” up to the letter, no?

Now, following your rhetoric, I want my money back including the postage paid.

Hi Andy,

This review is incorrect, I'm more than happy to provide proof of the conversation you've had with us which was filled with language full of swears.

You've incorrectly chosen the wrong car mats, instead of a 7 seater you've selected 2 seater car mats...

You've ordered customised items which cannot be refunded due to the nature of them, and we state this across our website.

We would have helped until you stated you've thrown them in the bin and the language you had against our staff is not toleratable.

We supply thousands of customers every week, and we've never had an issue to the extent we've received 0 assistance in return or foul language.

Price Hike

First order: Excellent, professionally packaged, arrived probably as fast as physically possible.

Re-order: Price was hiked by 36% and that's just unacceptable.

Had the price remained the same, this would have been 5* - without a doubt.

Together, we spend £50 per month on contacts - they could have had that, but we'll stay with Specsavers now.

Hi Andy. Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. I can see that on your first order you received a promotional price. We have promotional offers available through several channels. Some are sent out in the form of discount codes, via our email newsletter service, and others are available via online search engines such as the discount that you had on your previous order.

As with any other promotion this is subject to change, and only one promotion can be applied to an order, however it is available to all customers whilst it is running who follow the appropriate ad links (via Google for example). If you have any further queries regarding this please do get in touch and we'll be happy to discuss this with you in more detail.

Best wishes, Ruby

International transfers - 5*

International transfers: ***** Amazing. Fair exchange rate, fair fee, 6 seconds from the U.K. to my wife’s account in Thailand. Santander cannot compete and cost me £55+ for the same transfer and very often took a week.

U.K. ATM withdrawal: * absolute bare faced cheek to charge me for a U.K. withdrawal.

Can’t imagine anyone will beat them for the international transfers, but they’re not a U.K. card for me.

Review of Perfume Click

Exceptional

I don't normally write reviews and having read the negatives - it was slightly off-putting. Ordered a double set of a product I have used for years - it is 100% real, came at a very fair price, it's in the original packaging, all intact due to careful packaging - exactly what I wanted/ordered.

Royal Mail held onto the package for four days, but I could see that with the tracking number - not the companies fault who dispatched it in record time.

Negative reviews can make or break businesses these days, so perhaps there should be stringent rules that prove you were actually a customer, before slating a company or in some cases - your competitor.

Thanks Perfume-Click, will be ordering again.
