Rip off exit fee when passed

Had this firm recommended. Paid up front and was told a refund is made for any unused period. Be warned. I have 2 months left and zero refund due (which I accept) BUT they want £35 EXTRA to cancel as soon as my son passes. An admin fee when my son passes!! Ridiculous, money making scam that is hidden on sign up. I would avoid at all costs and look elsewhere!

In my opinion. If I (or anyone else) pays for a years insurance, additional fees at pass point should NOT occur. If it lapses or I cancel ahead of renewal point, it should be factored within ‘the advertised price’. To hide it is nothing less than underhand and sneaky. I see LOTS of complaints and reviews online. I wrote this for others to see so they either factor it in when comparing prices OR choose to use a less unscrupulous insurer!

Update: 24.10.22

In regard to the poorly written and incorrect response from this insurer, I can state for a fact, my son failed his test and no additional fee was charged. However, I will now check my statement to make sure you haven't charged me and will immediately issue a chargeback on it, via the bank as it's theft!

I remain disgusted at your attitude and way of doing business online. It's underhand, unprofessional and my review of your firm will hopefully guide others to avoid you!

Hi Justin,

Thank you for your response to help us identify your son's policy

We can see that you purchased your policy online, and in doing so, you are asked to click a button to say that you have read, understood and accepted our terms and conditions prior to purchasing our policy. Our TOBA (Terms of Business Agreement) which is part of this documentation clearly states all of our fees and charges so a customer can make an informed decision as to whether the policy is fit for their needs prior to purchase.

We can see that your son was due to take you test in early August, however failed to notify us that he had passed his test. Therefore when our internal checks were undertaken, and it was reported that your son had passed his test, the administration fee to cancel the policy became payable immediately.

We are sorry that you were unhappy with the fees applicable on the policy, however, we do hope the fact that you paid, 85p per day, including all fees, for unlimited driving practice for your son would be some consolation that the policy was value for money and this will have gone some way to helping him pass his test.

We do want to take this opportunity of wishing your son many safe and happy driving adventures in the future as a full licence holder.

Kind Regards

The Collingwood Team

Poor Customer Service - Horrible Phone System

Been with this bank since 1999. Dread having to phone them for simple requests, as their phone system is terrible. Annoying music and relentless prompts to use internet banking which doesn't do everything. Sometimes HSBC, your customers need to speak to someone. 38 minutes on hold and being passed to 3 separate departments. Considering the charges you levy and the reduced staff in your banks, I don't think it's much to ask to invest in MORE people to answer the phones and offer support.

Great Support & Fair Pricing

I have been a business customer with eUK for over 10 years now. I have several dedicated servers and VPS. Overall, I would say they are reliable, efficient and easy to communicate with. Having used a few providers in my 20 years in business, eUK stand head and shoulders above the others.

Great app but totally useless if you ever need to phone them. I wouldn’t mimd if they provided other forms of communication via their app but they dont. What happened to good old fashioned customer service in this country 👎 Non existent with Lloyds. Shocking.

Amazing speed of order - 10 out of 10

Just had a new kitchen fitted and used an old dishwasher as it was still working. Sod's law, it died 1 week in. Looked online for the best price and although I found it cheaper, none offered free delivery and none offered the warp-speed delivery times of this firm.

I ordered on Sunday afternoon and received it 7.04 am the next day. Unbelievably efficient and prompt service and it was free delivery.

Great job Marks Electrical.

Luxair Quality and Good Customer Care

I needed an 80cm cooker hood and struggled to find one. Luxair offered several models and I chose to pay more for their Brushless Motor model. Unfortunately, it arrived bent and damaged. I had not noticed when the box arrived but Luxair was great to deal with. I had a replacement within 2 days' notice and the old one was collected.

Having spent £300 on a cooker hood, I was worried when I found it bent, however, the quality of the replacement unit is great, the LED lighting is efficient and I am pleased with the brushless motor which is quieter and more energy efficient.

10 out of 10 for customer service Luxair.

My only minor criticism would be the delivery charge on a £300 unit. I personally felt this should be free at this level of purchase

The Moda units have a fixing for the chimney which is very close to the ceiling. This is an issue if you have coving! Coving may not be as popular now, but lots of homes still have it. Having a fixing lower down would be better but we found a workaround.

Put off by a relentless attempt to get…

Put off by a relentless attempt to get a deposit asap. Constant claims of ‘the sale ends in X days’ and adding unnecessary pressure for us to sign.

The showroom and tech is excellent and they certainly excel at selling the dream but for me, I see through that and want a calm and measured, supportive kitchen designer to guide me, not trap me.

I very nearly went with Wren but ultimately the sales person put us off and we went with Howdens.

Disgrace of a company - Annual RIP Off

My Annual Pass for 4 family members runs out 09.03.21 and it cost me £600. I have used the grand total of ZERO.... Not a single visit.

When lockdown came, I contacted Merlin and was told rudely, no refund, no way, not ever. The extension of dates is an insult and I am left out of pocket by £600 with 4 pieces of plastic to show for it.

I appreciate business has been hit hard by Covid 19 but the way Merlin has handled annual paying customers during this time, is nothing short of a scandal.

The good name they had is no more!

The good name they had is no more!. I will not use them again in future due to bad customer service. They need to take a serious look at themselves. With excellent service from the likes of Apple and Amazon, John Lewis will not survive Covid19 and the drive towards online business unless they SERIOUSLY adjust their ways. 6 weeks old Asus Laptop with a fault Asus ‘confirm’ directly to John Lewis and they will not exchange and insist I send back and wait up to 28 days for a repair. I was fobbed off by a so called Manager whose script doesn't allow him to say anything other than “Our standard terms are parts & labour outside of 30 days”. Considering I bought an iPad Pro 12.9 and Pencil this month, my £400 faulty Chrome Book bought 16th June is clearly worth falling out over 🤷‍♂️ ..... short sighted John Lewis!! For that £400 laptop you won’t replace for a good customer, you now have another bad review and have lost my future business. Imagine how many friends and family I will tell and how much negativity it creates ..... all for a cheap £400 fauly chromebook ONLY 2 weeks past your return date.

**UPDATE: Despite JL responding to my genuine and honest review below .... NO ONE contacted me

Marks out of 10 for customer service - ZERO!

Andy Hobbs is a very friendly and helpful guy and I would have no hesitation in recommending him. Unlike some trades people who might try and take advantage and fabricate work requirements, this guy just does a great job and offers honest and helpful advise which saved me money. 👍

Review of Nationwide

Ignore the stupid reviewers. Good bank IMO

I read many stupid reviews on here by clearly stupid people. I felt the need to write my review. Most banks are sharks but with experience of HSBC, TSB and what was ING Direct, I think Nationwide are very good. The app is excellent. I have referred and earned £100 3 times now, with family members. The 1 star review from someone saying they don't pay the £100 after switching is explainable as the process of claiming commision is not simple but with care to READ the clear terms and adhere to the process, all is fine with earning the referral commission. I earned £100 and my wife did too, plus 5% for a year on savings of £250 per month. My ONLY dislike is the hunk of plastic they continue to issue for validating transfers. PLEASE let IT savvy users use other auth generating apps and cut down on plastic pollution. Authy or Google Authenticator is simple and adequate tech to use and generate tokens.

Review of Apple

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I fail to see how anyone can moan about…

I fail to see how anyone can moan about Apple support. I myself moved 100% over to Apple 15 years ago and whilst it's cost me more initially, it's been the wisest investment I have ever made. Let me explain.

I own a small web design business and I used to buy Dell machines with Windows software. I had 10 PC's running and 1 server and it was a constant case of updating software, fixing problems, reinstalling the OS to avoid slow downs, fighting virus issues etc etc etc

I decided to move to Apple when I had finally got fed up with cheap hardware, poor performance and zero support beyond an intro period.

My green light to go 100% Apple was when my accounts software could run in the cloud or on the mac OS.

Apple hardware looks great, it's well built and the OS is awesome. My productivity went through the roof. I have MacBook Pro's, iMac 27" and several iPhones, iWatches and iPads. They all work together seamlessly and allow me to work so much more effectively, it's a real dream.

Now, the support. Let's clarify something before I say this. I buy from Apple directly. I do NOT buy from Currys, PC World, Amazon or ANYONE else and as such, they support me 100%.

Case Study: FACT. I bought an iMac 27" i7 with 3TB Fusion Drive in 2014 and it's been fantastic. I had two problems during my ownership, both out of warranty and I was treated like royalty.

Issue 1: Thunderfly got into my screen and was walking about. It drive me mad and I phoned support and told them. They didn't think it was possible but heard me out. I explained it was out of warranty and they invited me to a guru bar in Leicester. I took it in and the tech watched in amusement as the thunderfly wandered around my screen. Within 3 hours they had replaced the screen for me FOC (even through it was out of warranty) and sent me on my way.

Issue 2: This happened this month. My same 2014 iMac with a new screen had been fine for 15 months but Mohave was released. I installed it and oops, the OS install failed and I had big issues. It took some work to get it going again but support were happy to help me. I was interrupted in my work for a week and although it was frustrating, I stuck with it as I got support and they tried to help me through the issue. 1 week into this issue, I get a phone call from Apple in USA (on a Sunday) and they have checked my case and want to replace my iMac. Wow, I was a bit taken aback. They knew I had issues and 4 years into ownership, they want to give me a new one. OK I said (obviously) and 2 days later, I send it back to their facility in Ireland (at their cost) in the original box and packaging I had kept. 2 weeks later, I receive my brand new iMac which I am typing this review on right now.

If you think Apple is expensive, consider more than just the face value of the price. Factor in the build quality, support and general customer care.

I feel that Apple have my back. OK, i have bought into it fully but it genuinely makes my life easier and I work on a computer every single day and all day long.

If you buy from eBay or a 3rd party and expect the same level of service, wake up and smell the coffee. If however you buy direct and have a problem, in my experience, you can rest assured they will deal with you very efficiently and they have guaranteed ALL my future purchases of ipads, phones, laptops and desktop devices + watches... love my watch!

RPHA70 Helmet at a great price

Bought a RPHA70 helmet and saved over £100 compared to others. Good service and quick delivery. Returns process worked but unlike another supplier I use, it wasn't quite as easy as I needed to organise my own courier. I would prefer an option to pay for return through helmet city (or better yet, have a free return / exchange option)

Poorly trained staff with little knowledge

Well, I didn't even get to become a customer! That's how bad my experience was. I am in the market for 4 sims for my family. I came across a page offering their 'shared plan'. It wasn't clear, so I connected to Live Chat and the ONLY options were for existing customers. NONE were for new ones interested in joining. The person I got through too knew nothing, he was as useful as a chocolate sunhat. I gave up and thought, I will phone. Guess what? The number they showed on the page was no longer in service.

Talk about make it hard to join. What I read sounded perfect and the coverage looks good, but if it's this hard to get started, I think I will stay well clear from trying to join them, as I imagine support will be a nightmare once I am locked in.
