About as helpful as a chocolate sun hat!

BT should be utterly ashamed of themselves. My neighbour is 80 years old and has had no internet for two weeks. He gets the usual runaround when phoning and has spent numerous hours being pushed for person to person, none of whom help and somehow he has three new routers, a new contract and zero idea how to set up. His initial problem of no internet or phone is unsolved and unbelievably BT have emailed him instructions but he only gets email on an old laptop and there is no internet. Surely there must be some care and attention for the elders in this country. I am IT savvy and even I find the endless phone system maze mind numbingly useless. How are they allowed to operate like this 🤷‍♂️ I am helping my neighbour leave BT. For copper or fibre in supported areas, Zen show how it should be done with great service. In this case, Gigaclear are a better option in rural area.

Customer Service Poor

My initial review was to really put this firm down. I have adjusted my review and raised from 1 to 2 star, because they finally stepped up, after pressure.

My 'factual' review is as follows.

Initial order was fine. Price was fine and delivery was prompt. For this part, I would give them 5 stars.

Delivery arrived quick, but goods not perfect. Marked soles on some Birkenstocks and marked leather. These things happen, but the way in which they handled the problem, was a certain 1 star...

Their website offers Apple Pay. This means, there is an 'option' to obfuscate my email and use apples (who do a redirect). This is normal procedure, but caused issues...

Phoned and explained issue with shoes. They said 'please email photos'. This was fair enough. I did but this was ignored for two days. I tried again and added read receipt to email. Ignored again, so I wrote my initial 1 star review....

I had 4 emails which said 'Sorry, we can not help you as we do not recognise your email' ... to which I explained, erm, you accept Apple Pay. I can't send from that email as it's a redirect. Ask Apple!!

Long and short... Those who responded by e-mail, added to the frustration and 'did not think' about the problem or try to help.

Eventually, someone phoned and offered a discount to keep the sandals. It was a lot of hassle and dealing with laredoute was not easy or pleasant. They did move towards solving the problem, but I would not use them again.

The absolute worst

The absolute worst. I am surprised this firm has not been shut down. Hidden fees and horrendous admin charges. Congrats for passing, have a fee. Cancelling early, have a fee. Refund, lol, jog on. Need to cancel within 14 day cool off period, have two fee’s. Daylight robbery. The only people who rate this firm are those who do not claim, do not cancel, do not pass or do not expect a refund. Avoid like the plague and use Veygo.

Excellent service from this company

Excellent service from this company, both pre-sales, sales process and after care. I bought an Aygo for my son and they were helpful every step of the way and solved a problem with the clutch for me, with no stress or hassle.

I have bought cars for many years and not all are great to deal with. I would highly recommend this firm.

Clunky, Poor UX, Bad Service

Useless company. Anyone who says they are good, knows nothing of what good is, when it comes to payment providers. Compare this to the slick interface of stripe, Worldpay is a clunky UX nightmare run by incompetent rude staff. I have worked in the industry for 20 years dealing with many providers and this one is the pits. Avoid and try elsewhere. A dinosaur of the payment provider market.

From Premium to Pennies: BA's Descent into Budget Airline Territory

Once upon a time, British Airways had a stellar reputation. Nowadays, they’ve joined the ranks of budget airlines, finding new and creative ways to squeeze every last penny out of travelers – from pricing and baggage allowances to, perhaps the most laughable, seat selection. What a farce!

Sure, I can technically select a seat for free 24 hours before the flight, but only if I’m prepared to join the stampede of other stressed-out passengers. Even then, there’s no guarantee I’ll get to sit with my family.

BA lures you in with attractive headline prices, only to slap on extra charges for seat selection – and it’s not even the same fee for both legs of the journey! Seriously?

And don’t get me started on legroom. My family members are hardly giants (all under 5'9" and weighing under 11 stone), yet the seats feel cramped even for us. I can’t imagine how uncomfortable it must be for taller or larger people – and let’s face it, there are plenty out there!

Antiquated and terrible sign up process

I have various banks and this one is probably the worst, from the perspective of the whole experience of signing up. It is quite literally, tedious in comparison to all other banks I have used, and I have used many.

I tend to switch regularly to take advantage of deals. My main account is Lloyds (a great app) and I also use Atom, Metro, Chase and Zopa.

The signup process needs a total overhaul. The user experience is terrible. Poorly designed interface, horrible user inputs, password validation, and password requirements just hard to use.

I have heard good things about them as a bank, but compared to other banks, the signup process took up so much time, that it put me off using them.

To be fair, I guess my main gripe is the app, and the signup process, and maybe, if this had been easier, I might have chosen to use them. I want security, but I also want ease and other banks offer more and make it easier.

I also find the whole headline 7% savings rate a big con, as it's a capped small monthly fee and interest payable yearly. I am better off having my money in an account with daily interest, payable monthly at 5.22% with no limit.

First Direct is not my First Choice, probably my last.

Update: ROFL.... In response to First Direct, thanks but offering to show me how to use an app is a bit silly. I am a developer with 23 years of experience in websites and apps, so I don't need help with how to use one. I am suggesting you need help with how to improve yours for the sake of your customers.

excellent - great app and fair savings rates

Easy to open an account, a great app, and feel safe and secure using it. Especially, love the fact I can have multiple accounts to compartmentalise my money, which is really handy for saving for different things.

The 1p back incentive on spend encourages me to use this account compared to my main Lloyds account but. generally, I keep money in the savings area to get a better rate.

Overall, I use Atom, Metro, or Zopa ISA for main savings but as an every day account, this is on point. Good job.

Good and Bad but genuine review

Good and Bad but genuine review. For the record, I have multiple accounts with various different online banks. My favourite is Atom and my primary account is with Lloyds although I do have a Chase account. I set up an account with Metro bank because they seem to be offering the best interest rate on savings account with daily interest payable monthly, I must say the App is probably the worst of the lot and it was scary to send in £20,000 and find myself unable to add a payee when I wanted to transfer money out. I had to use a browser on my phone and login in order to be able to add a payee, which was validated in the normal process and texts were sent to confirm. The problem came when I sent a very small amount under £1 to verify the account was correct and had an instant receipt notification from Lloyds, but when I came to transfer £10,000 the transfer wasn’t immediate and took 14 hours. This left me with a worrying night as the money appeared to just disappear and the app didn’t tell me it was pending or flagged for security checks. To be fair. When I phoned Metro at 8 am, they answered the phone and were able to identify that the £10,000 was sat their pending and that it should be released within 24 hours. I still found this a little hard to swallow as I was pretty much in the dark, apart from someone on the phone, telling me that it would happen soon. at 11 o’clock someone phoned me to say that it was a security check and they went through some basic details with me and then released the funds which arrived safely. I’ve given the Bank three out of five because to be fair they did everything they could to make sure that my request to transfer the money was genuine, which it was. Feedback for them and awareness to other users is that this app really isn’t what I would call award-winning as claimed by Metro and is actually quite basic. when it comes to moving quite large amounts of money around it can make you feel very nervous, something I definitely don’t feel when I’m dealing with Atom. The staff were helpful and friendly. I guess if it was a scam, they would have done everything in their power to stop it. As a new customer, they were just checking. If the app simply said ‘queued for validation’ or ‘pending release’ I would have not felt so bad overnight as it appeared to just dissapear!

Great service and best price online

I wanted a Julien Bowen Bed and Mattress. I found a deal on the bed with Amazon and looked around for the 1000 spring mattress. Prices varied a lot and this company had the best price. I had a minor hiccup during the order process and they thought the mattress I ordered was out of stock, but a couple of emails later, Usman stepped in, rectified the problem, and two days later, my order arrived.

I would recommend this company. Good prices and service. Trustworthy firm to deal with.

Unscrupulous firm

Unscrupulous firm, even though I have been a customer for over 10 years. Makes it difficult to leave. Auto renews without ANY upcoming renewal notifications at all. Once they renew, you are in another contract. No idea how they get away with it. Staff are only interested in upgrading you, charging you more, and extending your contract. Infuriating company to actually deal with.

Yes, their initial terms define a period of contract. This is fine. However, at the end, most firms leave you in a rolling month by month. Some may increase cost on flexible plan. All offer the ability to easily leave. Ring Central make it very very difficult to leave and obscure renewal dates deliberately. It is sneaky, underhand and greedy.

Terrible Company but good system

I have been with this firm for over 10 years. I can't deny, that the system is good BUT the tactics of this firm are nothing short of scandalous. If you want to change anything, upgrade or downgrade, they take every opportunity to stitch you up with a new longer contract for 24 months. Each year, the service renews and you get NO NOTIFICATIONS.... Beware of this, as it will simply renew, take your money and run. There is NO WAY to cancel auto-renewal. You have to contact them 30 days before the renewal the following year, or it renews for another term. It would be easy to a/ send reminders and b/ allow you to disable auto-renewal, but this is not good business in their book. Their staff 'promise' to contact you next year before renewal, but they never do.

The actual system is good. The people who work there are not. They are cowboys and sharks.

Top Marks Atom. Good App & Good Interest

I can't deny, it made me nervous to use an app and move a large amount of money into it, but, after researching and moving through it slowly, I chose to move ahead and I am glad I did. Good app (except the face recognition, but now it supports apples face ID which is better). The app is very well put together, easy to use, and moving money in and out is simple. Best bit. The amount of interest they pay. I have an instant access saver + a 1 year lock-away plan to benefit from a higher rate. If you have money sitting in an account not earning interest, I would certainly recommend Atom. Also... phoning them better than high street banks. Very helpful.
