Helpful on the phone

I called them up about changing my return travel date (which you can do very easily online) because i had printed e-tickets to travel out but no means of now printing an amended return. (I'm also a maverick that doesn't want a smartphone so it really had to be a physical ticket)

I was hoping they would change my ticket for me on the phone and then give me a reference to collect tickets at the station. But it transpires that if you selected e-tickets on your original booking then e-tickets is what you'll get for any amendment too. Collecting tickets at the station (known as: Tickets on Departure) can't be done. I think this needs to change because you're making it harder for me when you don't have to.

But that said the Geordie guy that i spoke to was really very sympathetic and helpful in suggesting the library to get my amended e-ticket printed, which i did. Thankyou.

Radio 4 news presenters

Getting so tired of listening to Radio 4 news presenters present (increasingly) awful news with the intonation of a parent reading a bedtime story to their offspring.

Edit: Not Jane Steel or Caroline Nicholls.

Ebay's algorithms black-marking buyers for not being passive enough

I have 100% positive feedback but Ebay have emailed to tell me ... "Activity on your account isn’t following policy: Abusive buyer policy"

It transpires that Ebays algorithms are black-marking good buyers like me (who have been on the platform for years) for just taking their buyer guarantee at face value and querying items not as described, or pictured, or adequately described at all. They're shooting these warning emails across the bow to try and scare customers into being more passive. Email might aswell say "Buy less from ebay cos we don't like the admin".

Ebay guy i spoke to on the phone tried to insist that "it's nothing" despite the whole tone of the email being accusatory and threatening the "loss of your ability to return items on eBay and possible suspension of your account". I asked him to clarify what I was really accused-of he but he told me couldn't "get into specifics". Then he hung up on me because i wouldn't just roll over and let it slide when he got super sarcastic. So, I will defer to Amazon as much as I can for what I need in future, even if it costs more. Well done ebay, you winners.

Better than most but I feel deceived

Far better than most but my broadband tariff talked of a "price guarantee" when i took it out and still they put the price up, so now i do feel deceived. Conveniently nothing on their website announcing the price changes either. Had other issues with poor answers and processes but just very relieved they are not Sky or Virgin really.

I (now) pay £25 a month for the cheapest home / adsl broadband (started March 2021) and it's the 30 day contract that swung it for me. Staff are very polite and kind. Edit : But maybe they haven't replied to this review because confirming what the nuance in that "Price Guarantee" says gets awkward.

Quoted £191 for repairs that cost me £40

Quoted me £191 for repairs that cost me £40 in the end, at Bike for Good in Finnieston. (spoke repair, 1 new tyre+inner, brake service+new pads and noodles) I wrote it all down and they both had the same job list. I supplied all the parts aswell. When i went back to collect the bike (they got to it after a week) he wheeled it round, down the stairs and out the door for me super quick in case i stopped to discuss such an inflated price. Then they removed this honest review from Google less than 12 hours after i posted it.

EDIT : Thanks for your disinterested reply and apathy, throughout. Really lifts the spirits.
EDIT : "we think it may include supplying the fitted parts" is a straw-grab of a lie that suddenly comes now, after my ^ 1st edit. Guy at the desk entering this job listed everything i was supplying; you had it all there on the job screen and in the carrier bag (which came back to me with the bike)

Hi Mooch, we're sorry to read your review but happy you managed to get your repair done and hopefully that's you back up and running:-)
Would you mind getting in touch so we can check the job list as we think it may include supplying the fitted parts, if you can please ask for Dougie when you call and the direct number is 0141 352 8572.
Many thanks and apologies for the misunderstanding in the last reply.

Customer Service doesn't exist

Emailed them (from their online form) and got no reply. Tried again and got no reply. Was just a general Q about their stock (cos colours on Wardow . com don't match). I see others here have been ignored aswell. They sell their stuff on Amazon too but i'm not spending so much money on something from them under these circumstances. (I am in UK)

Need a smartphone just to use the website

I have a web login and tried to post an advert (first time). Website wouldn't let me submit the advert though. ("submit" just didn't work) Enquired on email, Simon just says "I think it's because your account is not verified. Unfortunately, you need to use the mobile app in order to verify your account" So you can't use olio if you don't have a smartphone. How funny. As is his use of "I think.." He doesn't know or he doesn't care, i guess. Very aloof. Reading bad reviews on here is enlightening though.

EDIT: They wrote that reply on here but couldn't manage an actual reply to me on email. I was never any the wiser how to verify my account. I have deleted it now. Pointless effort.

Hi there, we understand that needing a mobile phone to use the app is a barrier for some people. OLIO is primarily a mobile app and we use SMS verification as with many other mobile apps. You do not need a smartphone to use OLIO, you can use our web app in any browser and you need a mobile phone to verify the account. Apologies if this information was not made clear to you from the start. We actually have an FAQ already written: https://help.olioex.com/article/12-how-can-i-access-olio

Disgusting company

Disgusting company. They contacted Trustpilot to have my last review taken down; plenty of bad reviews here from others too. Every email you get comes from "Penny" (of Penny Broadband - get it). Totally disingenous. They are on Companies House at Telecommunications Management Limited, Director is Clifford Wetherall (who also runs Utility Warehouse, at same address, London NW9)

1pBroadband Facebook page says that they started 1p Broadband in Jan 2020. Anyway, they're just a bunch of jokers, you should avoid them at all costs. Folk should write to consumer journalists aswell. e.g MoneyBox or YouandYours on Radio 4.

Review of iQ Student Accommodation

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Dear oh dear

Tried asking them about summer lets (email and phone) and they don't appear to have any clue about anything. Woman on email (Jo Anderson) couldn't even point me to any terms+conditions on the website (telling me "The terms and conditions of your summer stay will be detailed on your tenancy agreement."). Different woman on the phone tells me you have to be a student to take a summer let, then corrects herself and just hands the call on to woman on the emails who then swears blind she'd emailed me T&Cs all along and gets all upset when i politely correct her. Their refund policy is... literally no refunds for anything booked after 01 June. Unless you ask them on the phone about this and Jo (woman who couldn't even point me to any T&Cs) will make up a bunch of stuff on the spot for you. What an embarrassing company, any students having to deal with them full-time have all my sympathy.

Review of SKY

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Disingenuous and increasingly greedy company

18 month broadband contract at £20 a month is ending and they want £27 a month (soon increasing to £30, in April) to just roll monthly on the same service. £10 extra for exactly the same thing. (which is just adsl broadband on their old single-band 2013 sr102 router) I think it's disgusting. They promised Ofcom that customers would "pay no more than £5 difference" when contracts expire - it's a joke.

Time and again they want to lure people into fixing contracts again, with higher prices, by punishing us with even higher prices if we reject these traps. They want us to sign months of our lives away in expensive direct debits, and every time a contract ends they repeat this behaviour on some sinister loop. 'Pay more to save paying *even* more!'

(and every time your price goes up so does the pricing point for future rises).

I have been with Sky for over 5 years, and I am so resentful of Sky for treating your customers like this; you exhaust me, and you make me despair.

If it wasn't for Ofcom's rules they'd still be even worse. Sky didn't even tell customers when contracts were ending, until Ofcom made them do that. They used to just put your bills up and never even mention it! Even now the My Account page doesn't give your contract's start and end dates. Broadband wasn't so stable either, until Ofcom mandated a compensation scheme for downtime, then all of a sudden my router stopped misbehaving. I'd like to be rid of Sky, that is my mission.

EDIT: I have now left Sky. Good riddance.

They will not stop emailing me

They just will not stop emailing me, despite me telling them 3x now to STOP.

I started registering and got to the residential status page; the only tenant you could be was a 'council tenant' - which i'm not - so i abandoned my registration, and deleted myself entirely.

Cue a stream of emails from them, each one of them somehow dumber and more absurd than the last. Copied and pasted here :

- We don't appear to have a record for you, pls help us find your account

- I'm sorry we missed your email, pls try signing up again. Just select the option that's most applicable to you.

- We appreciate you don't want to hear from us but i'd like to help you create an account; select 'council tenant' anyway, rest assured, this residential status has no effect on your credit report, score or validation process. We simply ask for this in order to generate product recommendations for you.

It doesn't even end there. I told them again to stop (or i will report to Info Commissioner) and still they've continued. Total incompetence. Ref: 2460050

Unhelpful customer service

Any time i've ever had cause to use Scotrail customer service i have always found them to be really unhelpful and grumpy and juvenile. It's like their mission is to get one-up on you. For a national rail co to treat customers like this makes me want to live on a remote island where i never need a train again.

No longer trading in the UK

Google says that this company Leon Cycles (Unit 2, Wharf Mill, Caroline Street, Wigan, Greater Manchester, England, WN3 4FN) is permanently closed. I don't think it ever opened. Folk on Google and Facebook are both saying that no-one there is picking up the phone, either.

This is a German co. but bikes are made in China. I found an e-bike forum discussing their poor service and guarantee (google ebike-forum dot eu ncm bike by leon cycle)

The sole director that's left is down as living in China. (google Leon Cycles on companies house). They trade on ebay as NCM Bikes and their contact there is Ricardo Hirsch (google for his Linkedin) but their stock is all gone.

Today 23 June i can go to the Leon Cycles website and buy a bike to put in the basket but i won't be doing that.

Dear Mooch, hope you find this message well and in good health! We certainly seek feedback, and we appreciate the time you took to write your review - although we cannot find your name in our Leon Cycle UK's system. Have you purchased a bike from us? If so, did you order it after January 2021?

Please, let me address some of your remarks: The warehouse that we store and dispatch our bicycles, is indeed located near Manchester and it has never been shut - although it did suffer some difficulties between April and September 2020, when the pandemia affected us the hardest. Please, if you have further questions in the future, we are available on support.uk@leoncycle.com or support.uk@leoncycle.co.uk. Wish you the best!

Review of Enterprise Car Club (UK)

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

First impressions not good

I'm in Scotland and it's only £20 a year to join up here. Or you can join for just £1 if you are a member of another car club already, which I am. (specifically Co-Wheels).

Their website sends you round in a stupid loop though - and doesn't send you to any registration. I told them, on email, and they sent me a registration link, with no mention of ever mending the website. (it's still broken over a week later). Then you put the comp code (COMP600) in on that page but it continues to intimate all the way through (even at Review and Submit - last stage) that payment will be £20, and not actually £1 this time around. Payment page does not spell out, either, that you're buying at £1 for only one year, then you revert to normal price. It's #5 of their T+Cs but Payment page should be transparent and mention it.

The excess on their cars is £750, if you don't pay £10 a month or £90 a year to bring it down* They take over 24 hours to reply to emails too. The bad website design and lack of clarity (on charging) has put me off joining. One badly run car club (namely, Co-wheels) is already enough, i'm not sure i need two in my life.

--

* You can buy "single trip car hire excess insurance" elsewhere (e.g Questor) and I would never hire from a car club without it, personally, since I don't want anything meant to make life easier to just make it more stressful.

Closing my account, awful company who just ignore you

Waited over 3 days for them to reply to my first email query - preferring to send you ironic "We haven't forgotten you" emails instead. Suddenly they managed to reply when i came on here to complain. I moved some money in from Paypal (Feb 2020) and suddenly a 99p "monthly fee" goes on aswell. When I queried it they told me that the monthly fee has been going on since Jan 2019 - but i never paid it before (and i've had my account since 2017). Not worth me having the card anymore then, since I was only using it for public transport; there are other pre-paid cards out there who aren't charging monthly fees.

Their software has messed my address up aswell. I spotted this in 2019 and corrected it then, but now it's reverted to the wrong address again. Now they're insisting that their customer service operative never really corrected it for me in 2019 - but (on getting their email in 2019) i went straight to the website and checked that. It had been done.

I'm closing my account now (let's see how long it takes them to reply to that request) and will use another service that actually has a responsive customer service team going on (and functioning software). Law obliges them to repay you any unspent funds on the account. (Google: EU law ends 'trapped balances' on prepaid cards). I would just transfer it out but not if they charge.

EDIT 1: I'm not convinced that 99p wasn't really a transaction fee, for the second transfer, when i moved my Paypal money in, then out again. Because charging me a monthly fee only once since Jan 2019 just doesn't make sense.

EDIT 2: They're now ringing me (and leaving me blank voicemails when i don't pick up) rather than reply on email and confirm if they will try and charge me another 99p to transfer the balance out of my account. Such a bunch of cowboys.

What they don't tell you.

Going from bad to worse, this company. In Dec 2018 they gave me £20 credit for referring a friend. Nowhere did they see fit to mention that this credit expires, apparently.I'd emailed them (at the time) asking them to confirm when they added the money and they replied just saying 'That's on your account now'. No T+Cs, no extra info like 'This expires on x date' Just out to trick you, really. What makes me really despair is that Co-Wheels and Nextbike (both in Glasgow) are supposed to be 'the future' of better planet-saving transport options and yet the customer service of both of them is awful. At time of writing i've just had Amy reply to me and totally misread what i even said to her in my email. Well done everyone.

Their 'How did we do?' text spam and GDPR.

Won't stop sending those 'How did we do' texts, if you ever ring them for anything - so now I'm off to the Information commissioner.

I emailed the complaints team (customer.complaints [at] ee [dot co uk] to ask that they stop spamming me. Email comes back to tell me: that's done. Then a call comes from them two days later to tell me it can't be done actually. "You can just delete them" says the dumb woman at EE, apparently unaware of what customer service really means. Pretty sure GDPR regs compel them to stop sending these, if i ask. I'll refer to the Information Commissioner anyway. Really looking fwd to leaving EE when my credit for all their terrible 'customer service' runs out. I hate them.

Bad first impression

Was thinking of being a customer and rang them up with a couple of Qs. Wanted to check if 0345 no.s are included in free minutes and calls to voicemail too. Off the bat he tells me that 0345 are premium rate no.s - which they're not. Then he asks me to repeat myself 3 x. Then he puts me on hold - but I had to hang up after 2 minutes because the hold music was stressful. I got the impression he just didn't know his stuff.
