We did get there but it was too painful

I am going to give world of satellite a 4 rather than a 5 because I had problems with a VU+ UNO 4K SE that I had purchased from them.
I was repeatedly told that they never go wrong, but that is not true.
After 4 days, 8 rebuilds and factory resets and more than 10 hours of effort, I got nowhere with the openvix support team despite sending them a point by point list of what I was doing and, when I complained, they closed my thread.
I finally went back again to world of satellite and they sent me some instructions to follow.
The instructions were slightly different to what I had been doing, but there was one significant and optional change to the skin (the bit that makes it look pretty).
To cut a very long story short, it is essential that you change the default skin when installing openvix, because the default skin crashes making the system unusable.
Why was I not told this at the beginning, why openvix is shipped with a skin that freezes and why support did not ask me to change it, is beyond me.
The problem was clearly not of my making and the solution was far from obvious to a person not experienced with this particular system.
FYI: I note that the default skin has been changed, but I have received no personal notification or apology from Openvix for their error and for chastising me on the forum, when I was right when I said there was a fault and for them not properly reading my step by step instructions which showed I was using the then default skin (when they never use the default skin themselves).
Also note, that I have 45 years IT experience of technically supporting a wide range of IT systems and managing teams assisting me!
I therefore know only too well that when you have a problem, performing a clean build and changing as little as possible is essential. Except in this case, where the default system was flawed.

I was a bit worried, but all was well

I ordered a mower on a Wednesday with the website saying that it is normally despatched within 2 days, so I asked if it could be delivered on or after the following Monday. I noted that on Monday that it had not been despatched but when it had not been despatched on Tuesday evening it had still not showing as despatched, I was concerned and emailed.
Whether it was as a result of my email or whether the website was not up to date, I don't know, but on Wednesday I received a reply to my email and a notification from DPD of delivery that day.
So, very happy

As good as it gets

I was asked by an elderly friend to have a look at his Octopus account.
So, I popped over and what I found was not good!
I collected as much information as I could and then called Octopus.
There was an acceptably short wait until a very helpful lady answered the phone.
I explained the position, including that the projected bill was unaffordable, and the lady explained all of the options available.
As a result a number of changes have already been made and my friend has received lots of information as to how he can reduce their bills.
My friend has been reassured by the call and can now stop worrying about where it will all end.

Premium Price, poor design and non existent service

Another update....
I received a call from AUDI UK CS today. We spoke at length and the person was astounded at how the system really worked (or did not).
I am hoping for a positive outcome.......
It is now a month since I last wrote to the dealer (Lookers Farnborough), Audi UK Customer Support and Audi Digital Support!
I received some support from Lookers, but after providing some information to them, nothing happened - including the promised escalation to their management.
Audi Digital said talk to the dealer - and have not replied since I asked them to escalate the problem.
Audi UK Customer Services have ignored every email!

I have a particular issue at the moment where the dealer does not know the answer, I have been emailing Audi Digital services in Germany for clarification and they clearly do not know the answer as they never answer with a coherent message - apart from saying contact the dealer, I have also copied Audi UK Customer services, who clearly do not give a monkeys as they have not had the courtesy to respond in any manner.
This is not dissimilar to the recent problem that I had with the My Audi app which I was repeatedly hounded to provide evidence for, which I did twice, all of which was unnecessary as second level support immediately knew that there was a problem with My Audi under Android 12. This suggests that Audi Digital Support is dysfunctional.
And, by the way, unlike the American SQ5 (built in the same factory in Mexico), my SQ5 does NOT automatically apply the handbrake when in Park or the ignition switched off.
The dealer could not resolve this, but it is a very simple fix and a fix that IMHO makes my car MUCH SAFER.
Why would anybody not want the handbrake to be automatically applied when placing the transmission into Park or turning off the ignition - just like my previous SEAT did.
I might add some more complaints, but for now I will hang fire.
For a premium product the implementation of some of the electronic systems is extremely POOR and the after care is APPALLING.
This will probably be my last AUDI.

Excellent product and excellent service

I have multiple cameras connected to my Synology NAS system, but only 1 of them is an ANNKE (model NC800).
Of all of the cameras this is the best, but I had a problem that caused the video to be inverted intermittently.
I thought that it was the camera, but with the help of ANNKE support, it was in fact the Synology.
The problem has been resolved - thank you ANNKE support.

Looks good but does not last!

I have specified and implemented a number of voip solutions based on Grandstream IP phones and their UCM PBX.
I like the equipment design and functionality, BUT
The support is far from acceptable. It is slow, the support staff do not read and understand the information given and it is very unreliable.
Having said that, it is apparent that the quality of their manufacturing leaves a lot to be desired. My customers have a number of GXP2170 handsets that have failed when just over 3 years old with the same problems..
When finally Grandstream accepted that these were latent defects, the UK distributor did not want to know. There was no repair option, no replacement and no spare part availability.
When finally a new GXP2170 was ordered and delivered, it too was faulty and unusable.
When a ticket was raised just 10 days after purchase, Grandstream Support just asked for the same information provided to them when the ticket was raised.
I will not recommend this equipment again, which is a shame as when it works it works very well..

Seriously, do not use for your business - we have ceased all services

I have been working with domains and the internet since 1993 and although I had heard of 1and1/IONOS, I had never tried to use them until this week.
The website and email for one of my clients was being handled by a company that had decided to cease their IT activities.
This company was using IONOS for the 4 x domains, web hosting and email.
So, it should be easy to transfer these over to a new IONOS account, yes???
NO!
IONOS spoke to the current registrant of the domains and she agreed to change the registered email address on the domains, as the email that was currently assigned to those domains no longer worked.
IONOS changed only one of the domains and not the other three - this includes the main domain that my customer uses.
We are now into day 4 and it appears that the communication that took place between the current registrant and IONOS was not properly documented.
IONOS support, supposedly 24 x 7, has been found to be totally inadequate - taking 2 days to respond with an inappropriate email.
There WILL now be business repercussions due entirely due to a lack of timeliness of the response of IONOS and their failure to implement and act on agreements reached with their customers some 3 days previous - but, of course, they have taken payment for services that are still unusable at the current time.
It has taken 7 emails so far..........
NEVER again.
After another 5 emails I finally got a helpful chap called James who apologised and confirmed that the process of transfer will go ahead...
A further 7 emails later and 2 other people involved, all of whom now agreed that this should go ahead, I am still waiting for anything to happen.
I will do no more today, but clearly IONOS staff do not talk to each other, nor do they document agreements and discussions so that these do not have to be repeated time and time again.
And lastly, clearly either the IONOS internal systems do not work or the staff do not know how to use them properly, either way this organisation is dysfunctional ...
This is the worst domain transfer experience that I have ever had (and I have transferred more than 50 domains), except that in this case, the domain transfer should have been much simpler as it was within the same hosting company.....
How can I give them any more than 1 star and why should I?
Totally spoilt my weekend, too!
It is now day 6 and there are still problems.
Yesterday, most of the business emails were missing and had not been migrated.
Autodiscover now does not work for a key email address - and Microsoft Exchange connections cannot be manually configured post Outlook 2013.
We were told that we would get full exchange access. This is not true - for example, you cannot setup email aliases nor create distribution lists through their web interface as they do not provide access to the Microsoft dashboard.
And, Microsoft Outlook, that is included free as part of the exchange package cannot be activated and support do not know what to do...
We have written a letter today and will probably be moving to GoDaddy for the hosting and Microsoft 365 for the business email.
Well, we received a reply from IONOS today.
No apology, no explanation and no suggestion that the problems will be addressed - just advising us of the termination process.

In the days that followed, and despite having had support staff connect to our PC's and having clearly explained the problems to different people, all that we kept getting were emails asking us to explain the problem(s) again.
We have now transferred the domains to GODADDY, the website to GODADDY, the home emails to GODADDY and the business emails to Microsoft.
All working perfectly and without problem - just as it should have been with IONOS.
Interestingly, IONOS also messed up with the business account of the lady whom we were initially making the internal transfers from - so it is NOT just us that have experienced their incompetence.
The account with IONOS is now permanently closed.

Excellent VOIP supplier

I have planned and installed a number of Voip solutions (mostly as a hobby as I am semi retired) and have always used and recommended clients to use NetXL.
I actually only started using them when I saw that their offices are within earshot of my son.
However, their delivery is spot on and, when we have needed it, their customer service has been excellent - with them going above and beyond.
Update to the above, yet again, NETXL have delivered when Grandstream did not!

Excellent again

I am so pleased with the JPS recommended and installed LG solar panels with enphase inverters as installed in 2018, so when I wanted to investigate a battery system, they were the only people to ask.
JPS recommended a givenergy battery and inverter be installed.
The system has been expertly installed and works very well. In particular, the information available to you and the givenergy cloud site where you can see your energy usage, are excellent, too.
Very impressed and thoroughly recommended!

Excellent

I recently had a givenergy battery and inverter installed as I have solar panels and am concerned about energy price increases.
I would also have seriously considered installing this system if I did not have solar panels because, for example, the battery can be charged overnight using one of the MUCH cheaper overnight rates, for example from Octopus. In fact I might do this any way to charge the battery overnight when there has not been enough sunshine to fully charge the battery during the day.
The system works very well and the information available to you and the givenergy cloud site where you can see your energy usage, are excellent, too.
Very impressed!
I recently discovered a bug on their website and raised a bug report - they have just advised that the bug has been fixed and that other improvements have been made. This is quite rare these days and is what has prompted me to write this review.

Shaky start, but.....

My delivery was of a Samsung American Fridge Freezer, but Samsung do not tell you 1) the shipping dimensions, and 2) That delivery staff are only allowed to move the appliance when it is in its original packaging.
I did not know this when I planned the delivery - which was to be made via standard width doors and would obviously only be possible without the packaging as the fridge freezer is 716cm at its minimum dimension.
The minimum width of this fridge freezer in its packaging is 770cm, which is wider than all of my internal doors!
So, apparently I would need to have the fridge freezer doors removed – a process that is described in the user manual, but it would need to be done by a professional.
So, I was in danger of being left with my new fridge freezer in the garage, whilst my old unit had been emptied, doors had been removed and several items of furniture moved to enable an easier movement through my house.
This was simply not acceptable – but was not the fault of Panther.
After much discussion and a telephone call back to base I agreed to assume full responsibility for any damage.
The delivery staff were excellent and helped me remove the front door as that was particularly tight.
Having said that, I had paid for the full wet install service, but agreed that I would do the wet install of the fridge freezer to the water supply as the delivery process had already taken longer than expected.

It is now a brick and the support is looking better.

It is VERY frustrating when things do not work as they should.

My swytch failed catastrophically, which was problem 1. I went to the swytch Bike website and followed the correct diagnostic procedure, which subsequently included providing details about my order number etc. At the end I was asked to click on submit to raise a ticket.
This I did. After 12 hours of hearing nothing (problem 2) I posted on the swytch bike facebook page. After a further 8 hours and having heard nothing I posted a review on Trustpilot as well as emailing support...

12 hours later, things are moving and I am hopeful of a resolution....
