Excellent instructors.

I booked a series of 6 lessons to help me regain swimming ability after a prolonged absence from the water. Every lesson was a positive and helpful experience. In particular, Lisa was an excellent teacher. The pool water at the Apollo Hotel Basingstoke was clean and not too cold, even though the changing room lockers etc need an overhaul. I'd recommend SwimExpert to anyone, young or old.

You'll lose your money. It's a scam.

SCAM company with smart website that looks convincing but will take your money and not deliver the item you think you were buying. The serious fraud office should hound these people until they are behind bars. AVOID.

Lawn Spreader OSS 1800 disappointingly poor

The Ryobi concept is a winner: one battery type for any tool. However; the quality of the gadgets varies; some designs could be much better. The cordless lawn spreader should be good at spreading granular fertiliser and it does its job ok for a while before the failure of the little hatch over the spinning spreader part. The spring mechanism between the trigger and the sliding hatch simply isn't strong enough to close it properly once a few particles of fertiliser dust have got into the depths of the mechanism. The hatch is inaccessible to clean with a dry brush and you can't wash it out because of wetting the electric circuits. Overall not fit for purpose.

Chinos need a re-design.

I've only ever bought the flat fronted chinos from the Peter Christian range. They're well made and of good quality. And they're cheaper than the comparable chinos from a rival company. BUT there is one problem with these trousers: the waistband sits much higher than other chinos, which only adds to that usually derided look of being an "old man with his trousers up around his armpits". Not very flattering, even if it IS the target demographic.

Don't waste your money talking to these *****

Once you've interacted with some of the profiles on this site it becomes apparent that it's all about keeping you chatting and buying more credits. It's a sophisticated operation. The "users" you chat with will send you messages containing pictures that you have to pay to open. If you try to suggest that they communicate with you outside of the app they will send messages filled with asterisks, which they claim to be their contact details and you assume are redacted by the website but a bit of clever messaging by me soon established that the replies are faked, apparently in an effort to get you to buy even more "credits". In my opinion, although there may be some genuine profiles, many of the fakes on here appear to have been given a set of scripts to use; they have all the sincerity of interaction of tarts in a clip joint. Avoid avoid avoid.

Badly managed site refuses genuine first hand knowledge

Zero stars. Some people complain about "grave harvesting" folk who get a kick out of "owning" other people's memorials which they have no connection with. And that's one problem. But THEN when a family member comes along with useful information and tries to take over the management of a family member's memorial they are refused! The robotic people who run this site have no genuine interest they are just in it for the money. Avoid this site!

Deceptive untruths to mask their awful service

I've had the misfortune to buy products from companies who use Evri on three recent occasions. On EACH one of those three deliveries, Evri have followed EXACTLY the same pattern: They message to say that they have the parcel and it will be delivered the next day. On the delivery day, they send a message giving a time for delivery. Nothing happens until an hour or so later, when they say they have tried to deliver (which is a LIE because I have recordings from my security cameras and no vans arrived) and that they didn't leave the item because "there was no safe place to leave it" (Another LIE because I have a secure enclosed porch, with a sign on it to leave items inside.) The parcel eventually arrives the next day. That's now a sequence of three Evri deliveries where this has happened. I assume that they create these fantasies in order to big up their standing with the companies who are misguided enough to use them. Changing their name from MyHermes hasn't made them any more efficient. I'm inclined to avoid buying things from companies who use Evri.
Update: August 2025. They're now even worse. They give a delivery time and then instead of changing it, or saying they've tried and failed to deliver, they simply don't deliver at all! I now have to chase up the item with the seller because the Evri app doesn't have a button to report a failed delivery. And we all know why.

A events organiser writes…. Concept is good. Reasonable commission rates and costs. Efficient system and payouts. Front end / dashboard could be made a little more user friendly and easier to navigate. Overall experience was excellent.

Excellent service and fast delivery from this traditional British company. One can only hope that they can maintain their methods, pigments, manufacturing processes and general ethos, having been bought by Hempel. At least the company is back in European hands now, it was American owned for a while.

Avoid this company like like the plague…

Avoid this company like like the plague (yes, pun!)
I'd give them zero stars if I could. My friend from Europe stayed with me under quarantine rules. She'd paid £118.99 for a day 2/8 kit that arrived on time and we duly made sure that all was done correctly but she never received her results. No point complaining by phone; too may other irate customers queuing to complain. No point complaining by email; they never reply. They have a dodgy "no refunds" policy that's probably illegal under UK consumer law. These people are taking your money and not providing the service you pay for. If they ever get taken off the UK Gov list (surprisingly still on there, despite all the complaints) the people behind it would probably spring up again under a different name.

TNT-Fedex: not fit for purpose

TNT-Fedex lost a British Passport in their system and it is still lost after almost a month of trying to track it down. Their "Track and Trace" page gives incorrect information; their "dedicated" Passport "Help" line never answers the phone. HMPO should be using a competent tracked delivery service such as Royal Mail.

Instead of going to the fitting centre I arranged online to have two tyres fitted to my car at home. Excellent service from a friendly tyre fitter. He arrived on time, did the job efficiently and was very pleasant.

Good value, comprehensive range, could improve the online shop.

I've used HS for many purchases over the years. The quality, the range and the price are all excellent. However; it's slightly irritating to encounter what must be one of the very few online shops that doesn't store details for repeat customers. So you have to enter your address etc each time.

Attention to detail

The actual flowers were delightful and I would have no hesitation in recommending Serenata for quality. I will certainly be ordering from Serenata again. However, it wouldn't cost the company much to improve the appearance of the free card they supply. It was printed on paper not card (surely it can't cost them more than a couple of pence to use card instead) and what was worse was that the chosen font was the smallest possible and occupied a tiny two lines; not great when so many recipients are elderly people with poor eyesight. So they lose one star for that.
