Impossible to sign up or sign in

Signing in and registering is a nightmare. Half the time it doesn't register things properly. I had to register 4 times, all because I was trying to send flowers to a single grave.

The first time I used a Firefox relay email and it said there was something wrong with the email. I didn't blame them for that, but when I used my real email it did the same thing. I had to re-register the second time because it didn't realize the captcha had been completed. Then, even though I activated my account through the email, it didn't register that I did that either and I had to have the activation email sent again.

And then after all that, it still wouldn't let me sign in because "Something's wrong with your email/password" ?????

Why do you even need to sign in to do something as simple as send a digital flower?

My recent experience with Find a Grave…

My recent experience with Find a Grave left me deeply disappointed. I contacted them regarding an ongoing situation with a volunteer, Becky Bergstrom, who has repeatedly interfered with my family’s memorials. I provided clear documentation of my identity, including my birth certificate and my mother’s obituary listing all her children. Despite this, Becky was not asked to provide any proof of her own connection to my family, yet she retained control over certain memorials.

When I tried to explain the history and the distress this has caused, the representative handling my case, Charla Ann, dismissed my concerns and demonstrated little empathy. In her final message, she questioned why I believed Becky might be mentally unwell — despite the detailed accounts I had already provided — and even suggested I should be “grateful” to her for maintaining the gravesites.

While I appreciate the concept of Find a Grave, my personal experience left me feeling unheard, unsupported, and treated unequally. In sensitive matters of grief, consistency and compassion should come first — unfortunately, that was not my experience.

Grief is hard enough — the way I was treated here made it harder.

I had a memorial I made for my Uncle

I had a memorial I made for my Uncle. Someone else made a memorial for him about 2 weeks later. Someone reported the duplicate & removed the other memorial, but Findagrave took control of my memorial and took it out of my control. Yes my Uncle is a famous celebrity & he was marked as my uncle, but how can they just take him out of my memorials without asking me to even transfer first> This is bullshit!

Bullies

Bullies on the site. Seriously bad ones. I was threatened daily until I finally disconnected my account. Turned it in to the site managers and never heard back. As soon as I disconnected they told me they couldn't do anything since I disconnected from them. What a waste of time. I agree with all the other reviews about people wanting to have as many as they can have. And they do NOT give you your relative like their policy says. Lazy customer service, which is no service at all. Not sure what this site if for, maybe just to have a photo of the gravesite, but certainly nothing more. They had wrong info on my immediate family and one guy told me if I wanted it changed I needed to send him all the records and certificates (death, birth etc.). That's not up to them. Frustration abound.

They allowed me to correct my…

They allowed me to correct my grandmother’s dates of birth and death (given incorrectly by a 3rd or 4th cousin) - but now someone called Julia has taken over my account (no relation) and I cannot sign in to make further corrections, recently discovered. So Julia is now responsible for altering history.

Find a Grave is a joke

Find a Grave is a joke. I made pages for my nephews adopted family. A man listed the cemeteries before I did and they gave him my pages. I thought you were entitled to the pages of family members? Now some egotistical old man who didn’t even care that was my extended family has them? Unbelievable.

Find a grave

the Find a grave is a must if you are doing Ancestry searches . you just have to know how to use it correctly and some of the information you have to provide yourself , and one of the really good things i like about it is the Volunteers all over the world who will happily take a photo on request . you have to remember that most of the Memorials are put on by the Users so you have to search a bit and hopefully someone can help , and you can also contact there support staff who are always very helpful

The site is a scam

The site is a scam. Their software will not find any of my six relatives graves at the Seaview Cemetary in Rockland Maine. It also sells my information and the opt-out link is not recognized

Bullying and Harassment by FaG Support Staff

Find a grave are nothing but a carriage service for bullying and harassment. In fact find a grave themselves are guilty of sending bullying and harassing emails. Now I understand why there are so many vile individuals on this site, find a grave supports and encourages this appalling behaviour. The fact that they have not been reported for online cyber bullying beggars belief. But give it time! There is constant corruption of plot information by so called 'managers' and FaG do nothing about it. Makes me wonder what they do all day. Oh, that's right they spend their day sending out hundreds of harassing emails. When Ancestry hitched themselves to this dump of a site they have seriously done themselves a disservice. Well done Jim Tipton, your site is now a runaway train wreck!

Important Site for Family Research

If you are doing geneology then this is a must use site along with the ryserson index in Australia.

The sort of people complaining seem to be similar to the ones that think they own the road outside their place and no one else should park there.

Quality varies as per any site that relies on volunteers (who don't suddenly become Einsteins).

I have had the worst experience with Find A Grave

I have had the worst experience with Find A Grave, There's a contributor who spends 24/7 collecting obituaries the Second it gets posted and doesn't allow anyone else to grab, This contributor does NOT go to cemeteries and volunteers what so ever, He has more memorials than photographs, When I left the site, I specifically asked find a grave to send them to a few of my Find A Grave friends to which by the way, 100% failed to do so, and that one contributor I did NOT want to get any of my memorials grabbed like 90% of em!! and changed what I had done. One thing that drove me crazy is that this person removes the period by the middle initial which I dont have a clue why, Its not his to start with. Admins cherish this person since He has broken all the rules in the Find A Grave thing, Create duplicates, sending nasty emails to others, etc. and I got yelled at by the admins for duplicates. Like I don't think so. This person did his damnest to get rid of me, well he has succeeded. I got tired of this same thing over and over again. For someone who managed nearly 200k memorials and photos which btw most of them were copyright from other peoples work is less than 20k, what does that say? I had more photos than memorials which means I was a true volunteer, I dont sit around all day and all night collecting memorials so no one gets them and get mad everytime someone asks for a transfer cause your losing 1 memorial.. oh boo hoo...

I agreed to take photos

I agreed to take photos. A couple of days later I asked advice and assistance via a web chat. I agreed to pay $2 for a phone call from an"expert". I felt this a bit off. While processing the "$2" payment via Paypal I saw that Patpal was going to transfer $74.

ZERO Star Information Rip-off

ZERO Stars. Find a Grave is a poorly-managed, user unfriendly site purportedly providing individuals with information about the final resting place of loved-ones and friends. THEY ARE NOT. Find A Grave is one of the private information-gathering arms of a cult which places great significance on family history to support their spurious doctrine of being baptized for the dead. That being said, you will find that about 75% of the people reviewing Find A Grave give it one star (or less). EVERYTHING they do is biased toward their own organization. They "allow" people to give them free research and post it to their site as if it were true. God forbid it if you should ever have to correct information submitted by a member who has been on the site for 14 years and contributed 23,000 memorials. THEY ARE GODS -- you don't dare correct them (even if it was wrong information they "memorialized" about your own parents!!!). I just want to save people the hearthache of going on ANY family history website with the false hope of getting help from them. All you will do is give free information for them to make money off of, and end up with a bunch of someone else's poorly-researched, hastily-posted information about your loved-ones and friends. Don't CONTRIBUTE a single thing -- and don't believe the garbage they churn out as they laugh all the way to the bank at your expense.

A Massive Cultic Information Grab

The "Guidelines" and "Community Standards" were written by Find a Grave (FAG) administrators, not by its members. They are extremely biased toward FAG information-gathering and are not friendly toward family members establishing a respectful, accurate, considerate and non-commercial memorial to their departed loved ones.
There will always be those who are totally ignorant of their heritage and will give FAG 5 Star kudos for helping them find a loved one's final resting place. But the majority of people I see posting negatively say that FAG is totally unaware of the "whack-os" they harbor within their family (or tolerate them due to their massive FREE contributions). ”I think I'm addicted to graving" as one member put it -- and FAG does nothing about them as long as they have long membership years and thousands of memorial creations.
These addicted members bully other members, especially family members of the deceased, by every means possible as long as their name and their contributions (correct or incorrect) are left undisturbed by family members. It's sort of, "I know more about your grandfather than you do" mentality, which to my way of thinking is totally bizarre and is an extreme form of narcissistic behavior.
But YOU, if you violate or attempt to step around ONE of their Guidelines or Community Standards, they will hound to death, even threatening expulsion from FAG (which threats violate their own Guidelines against threatening another member -- go figure!).
My bottom line advice is don't post ANYTHING on this site (EVERYTHING becomes de facto FAG's property). They seem especially intent on gathering PHOTOS of your departed loved ones so don’t post any photos. Don’t waste your time jumping through all their hoops to correct wrong information of a family member. It is just not worth the hassle and lack of common sense you will encounter with FAG staff.
Again, post NOTHING on this site because you will lose all control of it. Do your own family research, keep it closed off from the prying eyes of others, and be aware of the ownership (covert) of all the sites owned or managed by this cult-driven organization headquarted in UTAH.

Badly managed site refuses genuine first hand knowledge

Zero stars. Some people complain about "grave harvesting" folk who get a kick out of "owning" other people's memorials which they have no connection with. And that's one problem. But THEN when a family member comes along with useful information and tries to take over the management of a family member's memorial they are refused! The robotic people who run this site have no genuine interest they are just in it for the money. Avoid this site!

Is this some joke of a website

Is this some joke of a website? Total strangers trawling through cemetery records then adding them as their personal memorial records. Families should own their own family members memorial records and no one else. Surely there are copyright issues that should be applied and this site taken down immediately. My Father paid for a new headstone for my Great Grandparents and we took a photo of it and uploaded it to a newly created memorial. Someone then sends me a message saying it is a duplicate and could I remove it and now using my photo on their memorial record. How can anyone accumulate nearly two million headstones and claim that they now’own’ these graves. It is totally sickening and lacks any dignity or integrity whatsoever. The owners of this site should be prosecuted and have this site removed and banned from operating in this way

I been on Findagrave for over 11 years… time to minimize contribultions

I been on Findagrave for over 11 years and it seems to be getting worse than better. Customer support is terrible. They delete memorials without letting the creator know. They have no way of blocking unwanted members from contacting you.. you got to accept all or none. So I finally decided none is the best option.

Also the number of adverts is sometimes ridiculous. And they just increased the cost of sponsoring memorials from 5$ to 10$ and the new format is also terrible.. So I will not be sponsoring anymore memorials there. Or adding many more memorials there..

I have started to delete most of my memorials that were there. I will only keep the few that I sponsor. The ones I have a particular interest in I will move to my own websites. I do not feel like letting Findagrave make money off my research while they provide an unresponsive and toxic environment to persist.
