PrivacyHawk works by reducing your overall digital footprint — removing your personal data from data brokers and marketing lists, and unsubscribing you from legitimate companies that may still be reaching out. These steps help limit how often your information is circulated and resold, which can reduce unwanted communications over time.

That said, scam or spoofed emails and calls often come from bad actors who aren’t tied to legitimate companies or data brokers. While our tools can’t block those directly, reporting them through your email provider or phone carrier is the most effective way to stop them.

Within the app, each tool has a tab that shows what’s currently being processed as well as what’s already been completed or removed. These are very easy to spot, but we’re more than happy to walk you through them step by step if that would help.

We want to reassure you that while removals can take 30–90 days depending on the broker, once they are processed, your information is no longer available for them to sell going forward. Unfortunately, because these companies are constantly trading and refreshing data, it can sometimes feel like a moving target. We also want to clarify something important: PrivacyHawk isn’t designed solely as a spam call blocker. Our core focus is on reducing your overall digital footprint and limiting how much of your personal data is being shared, sold, or misused. By removing your data from data brokers and marketing lists, unsubscribing you from unwanted emails, and monitoring for identity risks, we work to cut down the many ways spammers, telemarketers, and fraudsters get access to your information in the first place.

While this can often reduce spam calls over time, the bigger impact is that it makes you less exposed across the board — from phone calls, to emails, to data breaches. Think of it as building a stronger privacy shield around you that helps in multiple ways, not just calls.

That said, we’d love to review your account directly and make sure you’re getting the full benefit of the service. There may be additional steps or settings we can walk you through that could help improve your results.

After checking our records, we can confirm that your message about canceling was received for the first time 17 hours ago. We want to reassure you that there are no hidden fees—our pricing is always transparent for all membership options. In your case, you originally subscribed to a monthly Premium plan on May 30th. We also noticed that you deleted your account and then rejoined on June 20th.

It’s important to know that the timeline for removing data from brokers is set by each data broker themselves, and can sometimes take 30 to 90 days or longer, depending on their policies and response times.

The size of your digital footprint can also impact how quickly you see tangible results—larger footprints or a big footprint across different companies often mean more steps and a longer process. We’re always working on your behalf to process as many removals as possible, thanks to our automated systems and ongoing optimizations. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you didn’t find value in PrivacyHawk. We do want to clarify that most of the data removal work is actually handled automatically by our system—we continuously scan for your personal information on data broker sites and submit removal requests on your behalf.

We want to clarify that the only part of our removal process that requires manual action from users is in the Advanced Broker Removal area. This section is completely optional and only applies if we find records flagged with BeenVerified and PeopleConnect brokers. The reason we can’t automate removals for these two brokers is simply because they haven’t been very cooperative and make it difficult for services like ours to participate in automated removals. If you choose to, you can submit an opt-out form directly, or reach out to them by phone or email—nothing more is required on your end. For the rest of the brokers, our data removal system is fully automated.
You can always view what’s currently being removed in your Processing tab, and see all successfully removed items (organized by broker) in the Protected tab, making the process simple and transparent for you.

While PrivacyHawk can help reduce your online footprint and decrease unwanted solicitations over time, we know it may not lead to immediate reductions in spam, as some information may have already been shared or sold before removal requests are processed.
