Literally the shittiest trains I’ve ever used (and I’ve used a lot throughout a couple of years), so I know that I am talking about. Old dirty garbage trains, BARELY come on time, as well as RARELY EVER arrive on time. For that experience, I would also say the price is terribly unfair, way too expensive considering you’re losing your time with this company.
Inspired by today’s delay by 97 minutes.
A total shame!
What happens on CFR is unbelievable
What happens on CFR is unbelievable. You can put yourself and especially your loved ones at risk. I witnessed my relative nearly being thrown in the dark for not having an ID on her even if she had a ticket. All this while I coupdn’t help as I was on the phone with them . The controller is harassing the females coming close to the children on train with unzipped trousers and stopping in the field calling his bodyguards to hit the passengers after 11 pm. They are truly dangerous and corrupt and they shouldn’t operate. People with health issues steer clear of CFR you may put yourselves at risk. The trains are controlled by gorillas who feel no shame threatening passengers and touching their luggages. Look out and choose private companies they are better if you need to travel.
Delayed trains.
The trains are always late! I was supposed to be in Bucharest at 3:25 sharp! The train IRN 347 has a delay of 47 minutes and it's not normal! I want this fixed. Because of this I might lose my job if I get any more days late!.

I am riding a train from Budapest to Bucharest (INT79). This is an international route. There isn't any AC and the inside temperature is 40 degrees. It is harmful to all passengers. Most are foreigners. It is such an embarrassing level of service. Servicing the AC will not cost a lot but I guess you are too lazy to try and fix it. This is a very important corridor as it is connecting Europe with Bulgaria, Greece and Turkiye...

Women Solo travelers avoid CFR trains…
Women Solo travelers avoid CFR trains in Romania, especially the night trains, at all costs. From my own experience, I encountered sexual harassment from male train controllers and station staff. Additionally, these trains are a hotspot for pickpocketers. I hold deep empathy for the women who work in this industry and worry for their safety, knowing they must navigate these conditions every day.
Groaznic!
EN: We’re living in the 21st century, yet train staff – especially ticket inspectors – seem stuck in the past. I had purchased my tickets at the ticket office, but couldn’t find the physical copies, so I had a photo of them on my phone. The QR code was successfully scanned, and the trip was confirmed. However, the ticket inspector's attitude was completely inappropriate and disrespectful. I tried explaining that passengers who buy tickets online also travel using the exact same QR code, but that made no difference in how I was treated.
Eventually, I did find the physical tickets, but the unpleasant experience had already left its mark.
To make matters worse, the temperature inside the train was unbearable – over 40°C – and the air conditioning wasn’t working at all. In a train where around 40% of the passengers were foreign tourists, this is the impression we leave: lack of respect, discomfort, and poor service.
Why CFR still exist?
One star honestly is generous. My son wanted to experience a train ride, as he had never experienced this where we live. I left the country 25 years ago, and I thought things were better. Oh boy...how wrong I was. To let people on the train knowing the AC doesn't work is criminal. The management should be in jail, as I am surprised nobody died riding in +40C for 8 hours from Bucharest to Iasi. Criminals, as it is mentioned on the ticket notes, they have to let you know if any condition changes for that ride. And definitely the red code alert is a big change. Not to mention train stations which are unchanged since comunism era. Luckily we survived and canceled the return tickets, as I will never ride a Romanian train again.
It deserves -10 stars. Delays, dirtiness, bad personal.
The worst experience you can ever live in your life. Delays over delays, I bought a first class ticket to Bucharest from Constanta, the train was delayed and I didn’t catch the next train from Bucharest. I have paid around 50€ for that first class ticket and I didn’t get my money back even though I completed the form where you would ask for your money back. The people who work there are literally yelling at you if you ask them a question. Also, the trains are very very dirty, I was afraid even to sit down. By the way, the most of the times the air conditioning “doesn’t work” and you are dying because of the heat.
De ce
De ce, daca cumpar bilet la clasa 1, trebuie sa suport zbieretele muncitorilor de la cfr, care au acces si circula la aceasta clasa ?
Why, if i buy ticket firstclass, i have to accept primar sounds who work for cfr and they can travel on this class?
Worst Romanian company ever
Worst Romanian company ever. I never travel with CFR CĂLĂTORI without a significant delay, Never! Avoid them!
Misogynistic pigs
Misogynistic pigs. If you're a female, avoid the male conductors, avoid CFR altogheter. Never had problems with women conductors. One time. ONE TIME (I always buy tickets and I take the train often cs of my work) I didn't have time to buy ticket from the station office, had to buy it directly from the conductor. Instead of professionalism he got smug cause I was a young woman, alone. Kept joking nonchalantly to prolong the Humiliation ritual when he could have just given me the ticket like he did to the other people in the train. Don't smile don't show emotion cs that's a green light for those scrawny old corpses to think they have a chance with you. Also don't get intimidated like I did. I left the train in tears. Pathetic companies hire even more pathetic men. Disgusting

No wifi no sockets no decent toilets drunkards smokers and the worst staff
Dirty and smelly - AVOID
I don’t know what to begin with. The most horrible mode of transportation ever seen. Everything is dirty, from the chairs, windows, bathrooms to the train personnel. Aside from all this, add 2-3 dirty monkeys that drink and smoke inside and no legal measure is taken by the personnel.
Please never use them if you have an alternative. It’s hideous.
Low quality trains and the bathrooms…
Low quality trains and the bathrooms are an outbreak of infection!!! I could not use them, you can not flush, its disgusting. I can’t explain the horror I ve beem through for 4 hours in the train and also expensive tickets for that kind of execrable service.
Issues with CFR Calatori
Issues with CFR Calatori:
- Trains seem to be late more often than on time, anything from 10 minutes to 2 hours.
- Some 2nd class carriages are better than first, depending on their age
- App information is not always accurate
- When you get on the train, it have very steep steps up. Good luck if you have a stroller, luggage, are elderly or disabled.
- Toilets are often out of order
- Toilets often do not have toilet paper, those that do are usually out next to the sink and half wet
- When you go in the toilet on some trains, you can see the train tracks below
- As mentioned, their trains are regularly late but you can't jump on another one within a 2 hour window like in some countries
- The trains are very slow, cars usually drive faster
- The trains are usually old and dirty
- The carriages are always numbered strangely. A 6 carriage train can be numbered 1, 2, 15, 217, 411, 412. They are nit always numbered highest to lowest or lowest to highest either, sometimes just random and it causes a lot of unnecessary confusion.
- Train/Carriage info isn't available on screens on the train, it is on a4 printer paper, which can be hard to read, particualrly at night.
- No train info screens inside the train saying things like the next stop
- Bins on the train barely fit a small water bottle
- Often no sockets or WiFi on the trains
- One time i did have a socket and it fried the plug
- Usually no announcements on the train when you're coming to a stop. No screens, no announcements, I can't rely on what time they are supposed to arrive because they are always late. I have to use GPS on my phone to tell when I'm near the stop.
- There are often dangerous gaps between the train and the platforms
But just to reiterate, the biggest problem is how often they are extremely late, they are so unreliable when you need to get somewhere at a certain time.
Fake prices on website
I couldn't buy a ticket from their website cause their sh*t service wasn't working as usual. When I bought the ticket on train from the staff the price was almost double than the one listed on website.
Expensive tickets at low standards
Expensive tickets at low standards.
And not the price of a ticket is the problem.. the delays are a serious problem.. CFR is back in time.. we complain about the same situations for years and nothing changes.
