Got an email saying they had initiated a switch 6 weeks ago to a company I hadn't asked for, at an old address where I no longer pay for the utilities.

I have been in touch with Marek & Rory. They have both been constructively helpful. However the proof of the pudding will be in the eating. Last year switchcraft moved us seamlessly at 21 Calumet.... See more

Switchcraft offered me a switch in utility supplier via email. I had the usual cooling off period etc.
I replied within 2 days of receipt of the email saying please don't, not interested.
I finally got a response after my 4th email saying although I was still in my cooling off period they couldn't do anything as they are a third party.
I've had to contact the new supplier to explain the situation and reverse the process, which they hopefully will.
They told me that they are having lots of issues with companies such as this.
Aggressive selling tactics, rubbish customer service. Minus 100

Potential GDPR breach from a company I have only just heard of.

I have never used this company before and despite them only having my address and not my name I have had two of my energy accounts closed and switched without consent. My data has been shared without my consent to multiple third parties because of this. I am now starting a complaint around mishandling of data under GDPR. Do not use this company, they will keep switching accounts of any person who lives in your property in the future without their consent. This has happened twice since 2023.

They switched my partners account and…

They switched my partners account and he had to pay fees for braking my contract, I had asked them not to switch me.
After hearing this I unsubscribed from them and they still tried to switch my account, luckily I noticed and contacted my supplier and they put a stop to the change over.
Will not use swichcraft again.

Switched when told them I didn't want to switch

I was switched from my present utility provider within 24 hours of recieving the message from Switchcraft that they had found a "better deal". I had replied that I didn't want the switch and yet they still went ahead and switched. I have now had to email the potential new supplier, talk on the phone to my current supplier and, yet again, email Switchcraft to instruct them not to procede. I'm quite angry with the way they have operated.

Disgusting company

Contacted them a year ago to stop my deceased fathers switch and explained that all future contact had to be through myself as we can't access his email account.
They've instigated another switch and there is no way of contacting them, they don't have a telephone number and ignore emails and social media messages. Disgusting company, going to have to go legal now.

If I could give less that one star I…

If I could give less that one star I would. A year ago I told this company to remove me from their lists. 12 months on I find that my energy is being switched from Eon to British Gas WITHOUT my permission. Frantic calls to my supplier to get the swith cancelled. Who the hell do Switchcraft think they are to blatantly ignore my instructions a year ago, and then to instigate a switch that want agreed in any shape or form . Energy Ombudsman has been made aware of this unauthourised behaviour.

Breaking the Rules not to be trusted

Breaking the Rules

Recieved ann email from a company Called So Energy??? Welcoming me to my new Energy provider and that they were going to deduct £286 from my account on the 28th of this month???

Then I Recieved an email from my current provider saying they were sorry to be losing me???

I then checked my junk ( thank god) mail to find an email from Switchcraft advising me that my energy provider was changing, the email was dated the the 25th.

The issue is that the last time I used them was 2019, I had also cancelled another two attempts. The last correspondence with them was 2022 where again I advised them not to proceed.

This time no correspondence, passing details to a random Energy company that want to take money from your account 3 days after only being notified by Switchcraft (14 days??? Cooling off)

Have they broken GDPR Rules?

Imagine if it hadn't been on the ball with emails or worse on holiday.

My advise is if they have your details and they will have your bank details, is get your account closed and verified in an email

Bloody awful

Bloody awful. I was trying to get quotes for Economy 10 and instead I just receive an email to say they are switching me automatically to a supplier without any choices or any ability to confirm whether I’m happy with this. No contact phone number just an email address. They better not switch me!!! Complete scam.

Don't trust them..

Don't trust them..
Check the plans yourself..
They showed an expensive existing plan that was not valid as I changed 6 months to a fixed rate....
It would have cost me significantly if I switched.
A con..
Avoid.

I wished I looked at Trust Pilot years…

I wished I looked at Trust Pilot years ago. We've had exactly the same experience as others i.e our bank details being passed to Outfox who connect and overcharge.

To quote Switchcraft April 14 2024

"We do try to keep people well informed ahead of each switch and proactively close accounts where contact details seem outdated, such as if an email is not delivered. I'm very sorry for the distress caused in your case."

This just not true Switchcraft (who did not contact at all) had our details from 15/20 years ago and passed bank details BUT when challenged they had not checked as their emails were sent to a company where I worked 15 years and does not exist anymore!!

Won't take responsibility

As other people have said, I would give a 0 if I could.

Switchcraft switched me to another provider even after I had requested that they not proceed.

They have never taken responsibility for the ensuing difficulty I had financially and otherwise getting my energy situation sorted back to my provider.
