Vacation turned into nightmare

Scammers – Avoid at All Costs
I had a terrible experience with DoYouSpain, who provided a car through Goldcar at Rome FCO airport.

Upon arrival, I was met with extremely rude and unhelpful service from the Goldcar representative. She refused to release the car (a Fiat 600, which I had booked for a two-week vacation) simply because my driver’s license was not from the EU. This was despite the fact that I had my valid English-language driver’s license as well as an international driving permit, both of which meet the stated requirements.

I have rented cars all over the world without issues, but this was a complete nightmare. Instead of assisting me, the representative was dismissive and unprofessional.

When I contacted DoYouSpain to resolve the situation, their call center told me to cancel the booking and assured me I would receive a refund. However, after going through the cancellation process, no refund was ever issued.

This feels like an organized scam designed to take customers’ money without providing the promised service. I strongly advise anyone considering DoYouSpain or Goldcar to avoid them.

Double charging

Apparently it is ok to charge customers twice per one booking.
But it’s okay, as they’ll send you two bookings instead of one.
I’ve booked one booking and they charged me twice upon the same click.
500 euros and then another 519 euros. What a joke.
And when you contact them, it’s like you’re talking to robots who cannot make coherent conclusions & put two meaningful sentences together.

Update: they have not refund me a penny. What a shame and pure theft.

Scammers. Shame.

Absolute nightmare. Bunch of scammers.
I booked a car for Rome FCO airport.
The car was supposed to be from goldcar.
I went to goldcar with a horrible treatment by the lady who were supposed to “help” me.
The lady was obviously so triggered and angry just by my existence? I’m not sure what’s going on there with them.
The lady refused to give me the car (fiat 600) which I was supposed to get for my 2 weeks vacation.
She refused to assist me further because my driver’s license was not from EU.
Although, I had my driver’s license with me which is in english, and I also had an international driving permit with me.
I satisfy all the terms & conditions. I have rented cars from almost every country I have travelled to with no problems. This one was a total nightmare.
I then called carjet to tell them what happened. The call centre said “ok just cancel and we’ll refund you” at the end.
I then proceeded with the refund process and unfortunately they did not refund me.
Classic organized gang style scamming.

Update on the merchant reply: that’s false. I had all the documents with me, the rental office probably saw that they can rent it to other tourists for a higher price as the demand was high. It was very very clear from the moment I entered the office they weren’t there to help or provide any sort of service. And you’re complicit in it by playing along with them :)
I’m just not the person to shout and argue. Maybe I should have, because there is no law or rules or justice to be taken. What a shame.

We checked this booking and you did not have your physical driving licence with you, as required. Please note that we did inform you of this requirement in the confirmation email. The rental companies will not accept the licence in an app.
